Residenza di Ripetta

"How did it strike you on arrival? It’s the private garden, peppered with trees, that catches your eye first—drawing you towards a sleek, modern lobby with high ceilings, manned by smiling staff. The building itself is a former convent, and there are two marble ancient horse statues in the lobby, just to get you in the Roman holiday mood. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Classic Doubles are light-hued and modern, with neutral furnishings, an oak wardrobe and matching drawers. The carpet could be a bit newer, and fabric on the bedhead could do with an update soon. But rooms are clean and comfortable—a rare commodity among some of Rome’s four-star hotels—and for the price it’s definitely good value. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bath products are by Penhaligon’s from the U.K. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free, but sketchy, so you’d be better off using the 3G on your phone. Room service: Worth it?At €13, the grilled turkey with steamed vegetables is a steal; we’d pair it with a side of fennel, orange and olive salad (€12). Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?All the staff are wonderful, especially Vera, who is eternally cheerful and kind, keen to make your stay in Rome the best it can be. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The air conditioning doesn’t always work, and the rooms tend to get quite warm, especially from April onwards. There’s no tea or coffee in the room, which is a shame, because you don’t always want to go down to the front desk for a caffeine fix. And, overall, the rooms could do with an update, especially given the bright new generation of hotels currently opening up around the city. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Residence di Ripetta is a decent four-star property, and while the design and decor is nothing to write home about, it does the job in providing a comfortable and clean place to stay." - Maresa Manara

My wife and I recently returned to the Palazzo Ripetta where we have stayed several times, starting many years ago when it was a rezidencia hotel. It just keeps getting better. Recent renovations/upgrades are evident. The interior patio/garden is lovely, shaded, lemon trees, charming breakfast or afternoon cocktail venue. An excellent restaurant which competes with several neighboring above average restaurants. Well|appointed, comfortable rooms. Great location, not crowded with tourists, easy walking to Borghese Gardens, coliseum area, or Trastevere. ||Finally and most importantly, the staff treat you like family, always welcoming. Thanks particularly to Sara Vona who was extra nice.||David Bacon, MD/Sharon Doyle

Chic & Elegance in the Heart of Rome. We got upgraded to a loft suite which was gorgeous. The design is simply awesome|Especially the upper floor room and the marbled bathrooms. The garden restaurant is the perfect retreat from the clamor of the city and it’s very spacious. We also tried the San Baylon restaurant and it was delicious food @ wine with good service. All staff were friendly and eager to please. Can I please move in ?!

A beautiful hotel close to most historical sites. The staff is helpful, the breakfast is wonderful and worth the price. The room we had was big with a very comfortable bed and wonderful shower. An outside eating area provides the best seating for all meals or just a drink. Highly recommend this hotel.

Rooms were lovely. Courtyard was gorgeous. Enjoyed our time in the bar which had a sumptuous and decadent vibe. But the real stand out is the staff. Matia (who devised a custom craft cocktail just for us based on our preferences) Matteo in the courtyard, the front desk staff, all were simply outstanding. They could not do enough to make sure our needs and desires were met. Look forward to returning.

From the moment we arrived, it felt as if we walked into an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel's staff are genuinely very friendly and cannot do enough for you. They offer discreet and attentive service amidst refined luxury. The courtyard is a very pleasant setting for drinks or outdoor breakfast if the weather allows. |If you are contemplating a stay here, you will not be disappointed. Our stay left us with very content and happy memories.

We love love love the breakfast here. The bread and pastries are some of the best in the city, the ambience is great, strong coffee and friendly staff. It's a real bargain for Rome to have a buffet of this quality at such a good price.

Superb hotel in a superb location. Great amenities including ample 240, 110, and USB outlets. Breakfast buffet had a variety of food choices and the servers were attentive and helpful. Beautiful courtyard with lemon trees. The hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. A++ experience!

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location, with an amazing patio area, but the prices are high for what you get. Our hotel room was small. There was American style air conditioning so this is a plus during the hot summer months. The doormen were helpful as well as the front desk staff.
