To set the frame for this review, we have stayed at this hotel over the past 4 years a number of tines. We have booked directly or via Amex Platinum or Hotels.com. Depending on how we book, we get treated differently. And markedly so. That I have always disliked, but I was willing to overlook it.||The rooms are dated but the spa and nice pool make up for the aging hotel rooms. The main reason we come here is because our daughter loved it in the past.||The reason for my 2 Star review is the following: As stated, we have stayed several times and at a resort this should mean something. This time we arrived at 9 pm and paid for an upgrade to a junior suite. We also extended to a two nights stay to be able to use the pool that closes at 8 pm, as we were not able to use any facilities on our first day but paid as if we did.||Given the late check in, we asked for a later check out at 2pm, knowing that the hotel was not fully booked (rooms of same category available online). The front desk was adamant that they were fully booked and could not accommodate the request due to National Holiday. We double checked online and there are several rooms available in every category. The fact that we did not receive the courtesy of checking out at 14h was purely personal and the front desk even had the audacity to tell us they granted an upgrade (which we are paying for!).|| All in all a two night stay will be about $1000 as we paid for expensive pasta dinners, lunch and drinks (overpriced for what it was, even for Swiss standards). Especially for a stay of less than 38 hrs. The only saving point was that the waiter, Ivan, who is a real gem, recognized us from previous stays and made us feel welcome.||There are better hotels in and around Lugano that we will be happy to return to next time. This was our last stay here. |Hotels should treat their returning customers well, if that is not the case, there are plenty of other options.
