Resort Hof Weissbad

We had a fantastic time! The atmosphere and the food was just excellent and we were treated with much care throughout the entire stay. As we were traveling with the family we much appreciated the unique combination of the adult-only-wellness areas and the very kid-friendly staff and fun activities in and around the hotel as well as great family rooms offerings.

First, the good: great location for hiking, convenient to transportation, large parking area. Our room was on a high floor, had a balcony, and additional seating. We did not utilize the “wellness spa”. It was a very quiet location. ||We had the lovely surprise of being in the area when the festival of cows returning from high pasture, with bells. Musical performances were a highlight. ||The interesting: most guests at this hotel seemed to be present for the medical wellness aspect of the hotel. As a geriatric healthcare provider, I am very curious about the model of this hotel: saw roomful of ambulatory equipment. ||The bad: our upgraded balcony room had views of the roof. The room was very hot. The common areas did not smell clean. ||The location is great. We will not stay here again anytime soon.

Pros|A beautifully located hotel.|The staff was all very helpful and extremely nice.|Breakfast, as well as dinner, were delicious.|The room was spacious and very comfortable.|Very comfortable parking lot beneath the hotel with an elevator from there to all floors.|Not a cheap hotel but relative to prices in Switzerland very high value for money.||Cons|If I have to pick one thing so the interior design was a bit too modern with colors that do not fit the ambiance of the hotel and its surroundings. Nothing significant and surely I'll be very glad to stay there again.

This is the vibrating heart of the Appenzell region. Local tradition in a very pleasant way all over, lots of charming details like a backpack in the room. Very friendly and professional staff all over, surprisingly lots of locals which is great! We enjoed dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both perfect. Service was fast and very professional, even the place was packed. Great wine recommendation! Best spot to explore the area, highly recommended!

Very professional and welcoming staff. A welcome drink is offered to you at check-in. Very quiet room (330) and beautiful bathroom. On each floor there are drinks (mineral water, orange juice, tea etc.) offered free of charge. The breakfast buffet is impressive: dozens of cheeses, pastries, croissants, several different types of bread, fruits, a wide choice of yogurt and real fresh orange juice. Electric bicycles available free of charge. If you stay overnight you will receive a card that allows you to use the trains, buses and cable cars of the region free of charge. Very nice stay in this hotel that I recommend without estimation.

When the cab driver said that Hof Weissbad is the best hotel in Appenzell, I wasn’t too sure. All I knew was they had a glam gala and great facilities. We were rather late for the gala dinner. Upon reaching there, the reception was waiting with a very well-dressed concierge. She whisked us to the powder room to get comfortable and even made arrangements for everything piece of our luggage to be brought to our room. The dinner was excellent, praises for the Chef who cooked a fantastic veal equivalent to a Michelin standard. Good flow of quality wine, with a surprise concert. 2 violinists & 2 pianists who played silent night with great fervour and synchrony. The room, with its door all wrapped up like a parcel shouted More Surprise. I enjoyed the raw walnuts, an excellent snack. To TOP it off, we were offered post dinner reception with locale liquor, macarons and praline. Quite amazingly, Leonie from concierge helped arrange a lunch trip to Hohen Kasten where we enjoyed a revolving 360-degrees view of Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. The grilled fish was superb. To top it off, Leonie got a private guide for us who showed us appenzell where we enjoyed the cheese fondue with Chardonnay. It was pleasure at its best.

An outstanding wellness hotel. All staff are exceptionally friendly, professional, and accommodating. The food is excellent and all freshly made from local ingredients. The rooms are modern-rustic and very quiet. Great starting place for wellness or hikes in the nearby mountains.

I have been coming here since for 18 years once in two years. The staff are very attentive and nice and the cuisine is exquisite. I would not recommend this hotel for younger guests who are looking for a party, however, it is perfect for wellness or rehabilitation. The location is perfect for people who like to hike or do other outdoor activities.
