I was fortunate enough to try what seems like a local favorite during my time in Prague.
I walked in with my party (mind you, we were a pretty big party of about 12 people), and sure enough it was already pretty packed. We were about half an hour early for our reservation, and sure enough, we were told to come back when it was actually time for our reservation.
Thankfully for us, there was a cafe/bar just a few doors down and we entertained ourselves by having of course, a pint! :) Beer really is cheaper than most other things you could get on the menu.
The menu is quite extensive (full of Czech favorites) and you will be spoiled for choice as you try to determine what you would devour. They have a pretty good bread that they serve up while you figure out what you wanna eat too. Due to our large party, I was able to sample the pickle cheese thing (never figured out the name of it) and jellied pork. The cheese is AWESOME. A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Get it, you will not regret it! The jellied pork requires time for you to really be OK with it, so pass if you're not the type to like that kind of textures in your food. The flavor wasn't bad though, imo.
I personally got the Roast Pork Knee for dinner and it was by far one of the highlights of my trip there (foodwise anyway). I really liked how well it was done, the skin was nice and crisp without making the meat underneath dry and flavorless. It was a very well-done piece of meat and definitely one you should not leave Prague without trying. You will quickly realize that meats in Czech republic are served with mustard and horseradish; surprisingly I really enjoy the pairing and gives a little kick to every bite of meat you have. Definitely try it if you haven't. I'm sure you won't regret it.
The service was pretty good, but they do get busy. So, don't be shy to hail your waiter if you need something. Clearly, a local favorite and the crowd shows it.
