"While Krakow excels in traditional Polish offerings, a growing number of restaurants are serving modern European cuisine with a Polish twist. These new upmarket restaurants are offering a dining experience that would sit easily alongside the fancy restaurants of London or Paris, yet carry a fraction of the price tag. One good option for high-end, contemporary Polish food is the iconic Wierzynek—the restaurant itself has been around since 1364, but the kitchen hasn't lagged behind modern gastronomic trends. It even offers a slow-food menu with a popular caramelized honey porcini mushroom ice cream for dessert."

Very Disappointing Experience Despite the Hype We visited without a reservation, hoping to experience the historic restaurant we had read about.. especially since it’s been visited by royalty. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be quite disappointing. As vegetarians, we were dismayed to find there were almost no options available for us. Wanting to at least enjoy the ambiance, we decided to stay just for drinks and desserts. We preferred the upstairs seating area, which felt more like a proper restaurant setting, but the staff insisted it was fully reserved. When we checked upstairs ourselves, it was nearly empty. After some discussion, they allowed us to sit there since we were only staying briefly. The service, however, was unwelcoming. We started with drinks, but the waiter brought the wrong one. When we pointed this out, his response was rude and dismissive. It felt like we were being treated differently, perhaps because we weren’t ordering full meals - though we would have, had there been vegetarian options. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving after just our drinks, skipping the desserts entirely. This visit was a classic case of a place resting on its reputation rather than delivering quality service or hospitality. Not recommended for vegetarians or for anyone expecting a warm, welcoming dining experience.

I had the beef tenderloin and it was absolutely delicious. My husband chose the duck breast and he loved it as well. We were both very satisfied with our meals. A special thanks to Caroline, who was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the service. Her kindness and professionalism truly made our evening even more enjoyable. Thanks🙏🏼🌸

Google
Truly DELICIOUS meal in the square of old Krakow. Possibly I had low expectations with all of the touristy spots around - but this was really delicious and beautifully presented. What a lovely find! I had the vegetable soup (sounds boring - but was so yum) and am amazing truffle chicken. Highly recommend!

Google
Friendly and nice location. Great place to watch people in the main square while enjoying Polish beer…which is very nice btw. Check the photo for that I can’t pronounce it. Ok had to come back after finishing everything. You know there are places that have a great location and can be underwhelming…well this is not one of them. The food is honestly incredible. Location and food perfection all in one location.

Nice restaurant in an old, venerable building with a lot of history. Very good food and pleasant service.

Had a great meal on my last night in Krakow...my waiter Woytek was outstanding...took the time for great recommendations and loved talking about Poland and his visits to America...the Polish cream cake was awesome! Check them out...right on the square!

Google
Excellent food and service in a beautiful historic setting. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and offered a choice of tables. We selected a table on the second floor with an incredible view of the main square. Our server Dymitr was charming and entertaining. He told us the history of the building and of the furnishings in the dining room. He also provided excellent recommendations for the wine and the dessert.

Yelp
We went there for Friday evening in December. They have outdoor seating with and warm blankets. Watching the Christmas tree and the town hall while sipping on mulled wine is amazing. The food is amazing, as well as the service. It's romantic and a good place for date night. I love their mulled wine. Price is cheap compared to US.

Yelp
Turned out to be an excellent choice for us. My wife was skeptical because some reviews and no Michelin mention but since I dined there before on my previous Poland trip I convinced her. She loved it. We had tasting menu which was excellent. We highly recommend. Great quality food served to the highest standard. Our waiter was very good and knew his stuff. Professionally explained all the dishes. Food came not to quickly and not to slow. His wine recommendations were right on the spot. Wearing white gloves was nice touch The portions were HUGE like in normal meal not tasting menu. We did not expected that from tasting menu so it was a delight. However if you are having tasting menu sure you go there hungry, which is hard to do in Krakow. Food was super delicious but we just could not finish each dish. Smoked tartar with actual real smoke and mushroom ice cream were very amusing and tasted great. Not cheap for Poland basically priced like any good quality US restaurant in Chicago or LA but well worth your money and we are definitely coming back next time in Poland. Hopefully they will change their tasting menu for a different experience.

Yelp
Wierzynek is a restaurant located at the Krakow Old Town Main Square. It occupies four floors and has a capacity of 200 guests. There are eight separate dining rooms including the Italian Pompeii Rooms, the Tatra Room, The Clock Room, the Knights Room and the Chamber of Imagination. I enjoyed my dinner with my family of eleven in the smaller private Pompeian room. We reserved the entire Pompeian room for ourselves. My dinner was my best dinner I enjoyed here in Krakow. Wierzynek dates back to the medieval times. It is famous for the great wedding celebration of 1364, when the wedding of King Casimir III the Great's 's granddaughter Princess Elizabeth of Pomerania to Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor took place here. The celebration was attended by numerous European monarchs and the nobility. Many world leaders and celebrities have visited the restaurant including Charles de Gaulle, Fidel Castro, Sophie Marceau and Kate Moss. This is a classic 5-star well served dinner. Check out all of my pics to visually enjoy my dinner with me. I enjoyed my first appetizer of goose liver brioche with fresh red currant, foie gras ice cream, foie gras powder, and dog rose jam. Then I equally enjoyed my crayfish soup with sous vide egg yolk and compressed cucumber. My main course of venison saddle with nettle, sunroot, arabica, and rhubarb was spectacular. I have enjoyed venison at other restaurants. My deer saddle was the best I ever enjoyed in my life. It was like a medium rare filet mignon. I ended my dinner with the halva cheesecake with mascarpone, apple sorbet, Poland's classic bison grass vodka called Zubrowka. I loved the variety of these exotic ingredients from all over the world. I felt like I was the King of Poland! The views from this historic restaurant of the Old Town main square were equally impressive. I look forward to returning here again for another great meal and experience. Dziękuję Ci bardzo

Yelp
One of our BEST dinners in Krakow & certainly one of the BEST restaurants in Krakow. DELICIOUS FLAVOURFUL, OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD FOOD & CREATIVELY ARRANGED FOOD, Old World WHITE GLOVE IMPECCABLE SERVICE, Specialty meats not often seen at most restaurants, romantic settings/ historic rooms, gorgeous views of main square. Who knew there were so many excellent restaurants in Krakow. Eat like Polish royalty surrounded by sumptuous surroundings and feel specially treated by the highly trained staff. ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$$$ (once converted it was inexpensive in USD). yes it's expensive (in zloty) but it's also a once in a lifetime meal to try. Ingredients are top notch. We thought it was worthwhile. Live a little and experience this. ***DÉCOR: Wonderful views of old town main square from the banquette tables by the windows. Historical Romantic Lush, look at the gilded room or cordovan leather wallpaper, everything was thought through and exuded luxury and upper crust. Saw a couple here celebrating their anniversary, in the other room saw a large party celebrating a birthday, romantic dinner for another couple by the window seat. Perfect evening. ***SERVICE: White gloved coordinated service, think Downton Abbey, waiters lifting the silver trayed cloches all at once and clanging them as if announcing your grand feast has begun. WOW! So cool and so entertaining. Was not expecting that. Old world white gloved and Black & White suited waiters WOW so impressive. They cleared our plates and replaced with fresh dishes after every course, swept crumbs off the table and silverware replaced with every course and with the correct silverware for next course. Classy and correct etiquette. Chef provided us a complimentary amuse bouche. Soup poured tableside (another AHMAZING display of service). Loved every minute of our dining EXPERIENCE here. ***RECOMMEND: HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place and would DEFINITELY GO BACK if we are ever back in Krakow. ***MEAL: Everything was beautifully plated as well and the flavours were so creative. I meant EVERYTHING was so delicious. The steak tartare was AHHHMAZING. It came inside a smoke filled glass cloche and when they lifted the cloche the smoke wafted upwards. It was all so fantastical, such a great display, and so entertaining. Loved the service. It truly made you feel special. Had the Smoked beef tartare (superb & entertaining display). Trout (very good, cooked perfectly), Pierogi dumplings stuffed with goose meat (OMG so so good), Cream of crayfish (Loved it so much, loved how they poured the soup tableside), Duck Breast (delish & tender & perfectly cooked), Venison (OMG melt in your mouth tender, one of the best we've ever had), Sea Bass (good), Polish special Bison vodka (ok), Honey carmelized mushroom ice cream (mushroom flavoured & shaped ice cream)- different not sure if I liked the taste but it was good to try. yes the portions are smaller but we prefer quality over quantity. Besides we were able to order more items and taste a wide variety of dishes as a result. Overall we loved this place. The food was just excellent & so memorable, the service made you feel like royalty & the surroundings ambience was rich and so luxe.

Yelp
This was by far the best best dining experience in all of Poland. The robust meal was full of flavor, prepared perfectly, and presented with elegance. The atmosphere is historic with spacious interiors, detailed furnishings, period art, and unmatched romance. The chef prepares specialities not on the menu at the start and finish and perhaps throughout, seasonly. The service was attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable, and delivered with a flair for elegance and care. Do not miss this dining experience -- join 600+ years of diners!! Dress was very accommodating to a wide range of attire.

Yelp
Chopin concert followers by a 2.5hr long leisurely dinner in a private room overlooking the main square makes for a beautiful first night in Kraków! Service was excellent, timely and coordinated to our pace. The white glove service for the main course presentation was impressive. Any questions or lessons in learning words in Polish were pleasantly answered by our friendly waiter. He even got "Harry Potter" waiter out of the main dining room to come say hello:-) All dishes were beautifully plated and presented. My favorite were the duck carpaccio and my duck entrée. Don't miss the mushroom ice cream! We got a nice bottle of Austrian Pinot Noir and our glasses were kept full with sparkling water. One guest has food allergies but the kitchen accommodated his dietary needs, and were extra careful especially as most dishes have pre-made sauces and prep'ed ahead ingredients. Before we leave Kraków, I've already asked hubby to come back at least once, and enjoy more mushroom ice cream tête-à-tête at one of the table for 2 overlooking the main square!

Yelp
This is for the downstairs restaurant Tradyci in the bar area. Tradyci soup with fava beans was almost a meal by itself. Wild boar pierogi with sauces were delicious!! I went back and had dinner upstairs, in the fancy part, ordered similar things and regretted not eating downstairs again. The soup was not near as flavorful, and the pierogies weren't either.

Yelp
Holy history! First opened in the 1300's this historical landmark has been around longer than any other restaurant I have ever been to. The rich decor, white glove service and exquisite cuisine couldd make even the most ordinary rainy day feel like it was a holiday. I was SO impressed by everything this restaurant had to offer and I can not wait to come back!

Yelp
Good food, but a bit smaller portions - normal for places in the same league. Our waiter was great and spoke perfect English. Knocked off one star since the hostess was a bit rude when I arrived and mentioned my reservation, though we were seated immediately. Would recommend if you're in town looking for something above and beyond beyond the typical and have the cash to accommodate.

Yelp
Their desserts are memorable and tasty. I guarantee that there aren't many places where you can try a mushroom flavored and shaped ice cream (I had no idea you could create such dessert) or tahini (Chalva) fluffy cheesecakes. I also tried their almond mousse which was out of this world. Highly recommend for any dessert connoisseur!

Yelp
This restaurant has been around for a long long long time. Great service. They prepared a dish for my daughter that was not on the menu. All the food was fantastic. Pricy, yes. But it's worth having that treat. This was the only excellent restaurant in Kraków during the communist times and it only got better. Brava.

Yelp
Scam with muschroom Icecream I was traveling 7 hours there and 7 back to have their mushroom shape Icecream. I asked twice if they have it and they confirmed. Instead I hot two little scoops of average Icecream for 32 zl. They still have the shape mentioned in the menu. When I told them that it's not what I ordered they explained that someone broke the stencil for the ice cream shape and it's very expensive so they are not gonna buy other. I feel huge dissapointment and I'm sure this is not how the luxurious restaurant should behave to customers. I also wasted 2 hours of my time as they told me today they are opening from 14 because of some party but then they sat me down anyway and the down part was open even when I was there the first time! Shame on that place and don't go!

Yelp
To be fair we did not eat here. Walked in , the restaurant was empty, we asked to be seated and have dinner by the window. We were told that was not possible, only coffee and tea served by the window, lol! OK, great, spent our $200 elsewhere. They need to change their old fashioned attitude or else the only business they will get are the tourist buses....

Yelp
We had a dinner date here this past Sunday right before the World Youth Day madness. There were definitely people there, but it was stand still packed like it was during the week sometimes. You could still walk freely. We had just gotten to Kraków a couple of hours earlier, so this was a nice introduction to Polish food. Our server was amazing! He reminded me of Oaken from Frozen, the guy that owned the trading post and sauna. He gave great food and wine recommendations. We started off with a half bottle of champagne and some pierogies. I ordered the kid/lamb dish and my boyfriend ordered the beef tenderloin. My kid dish was UHmazing. So tender and flavorful. My boyfriend said he really enjoyed his dish too. We had respective wines paired with our dishes. We ended up spending about $80 USD for the entire dinner, was was amazing because it's usually upwards of $100+ for our dinner dates. It's not a causal dining place, even though they have outside seating next to other casual places. We ended sitting outside to get into the ambience and feel the city/main square. Would 100% recommend this place if you're looking for something a little more upscale.

Yelp
I think history of the place bringing here many people...I am aware that is not considered as top one- but for me it is- due to I left there many memories...I think the service is really good, standard too and for the historical bit you paying tiny bit more...views from the windows are beautiful and you can feel the vibe of old times- like imagine- having Sunday early dinner where kings were eating :)

Yelp
When in Krakow it is of utmost importance to visit this marvelous ,unique Restaurant. It is an experience that it is not often available to-day. The food is excellent and the service most professional but friendly and helpful. Highly recommended
