1. The Food – Refined, Memorable, and Almost Spotless
Allegrine delivers on what matters most: flavor, finesse, and attention to detail. Every dish is thoughtfully composed and beautifully plated. The Pulpo Picante stood out as a bold and brilliant starter, deeply flavorful, with a subtle fire that lingers (though not a crowd-pleaser). The frog legs, generously portioned and aromatic, were slightly over-salted and may benefit from a lighter touch next time.
The main courses—the turbot with champagne sauce and the corn-fed chicken with morel and black garlic were both excellent, with sauces so good they deserved to be mopped up with bread (which, surprisingly, had to be requested). A minor bémol: the cheese plate consisted of only one variety (Tête de Moine), well-served but a bit underwhelming for a place of this caliber.
Desserts brought the meal to a strong finish. The theatrical Omelette Norvégienne was visually stunning and satisfying, though slightly on the sweet side perhaps best balanced in future iterations. On the other hand, the lemon sorbet was simplistically great: pure, bright, and refreshing, offering the perfect palate cleanser.
2. The Wine - A Burgundy That Delivered
The meal was complemented by a 2022 Fixin from Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet. A supple, structured Burgundy that paired smoothly across courses. The sommelier’s approach was appreciated: thoughtful, never pushy, and able to adapt to both taste and budget. The wine itself showed elegance, with enough personality to anchor the meal.
3. The Price – Bib Gourmand or Something Else?
Here’s the puzzle: while the food was undoubtedly high quality, the final bill landed at €300 for two with roughly €150 on the meal and €150 on wine, including water and à la carte selections. That level of pricing edges well beyond the spirit of the Michelin Bib Gourmand, which traditionally celebrates approachable excellence typically .
In short, Allegrine is well worth visiting for a refined, flavor-driven meal with polished service and a confident kitchen. Just know: it’s not a quiet spot when full (as it was tonight), and after a full day exploring Stockholm, the noise level did catch up with us. A special meal, yes but one that sits closer to fine dining than the “friendly value” Michelin’s Bib Gourmand usually promises.
