Restaurant A - Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ

Came in for a simple lunch while in town for work. The staff have been absolutely incredible and so very friendly. They were kind enough to let me do a little work. There is a very nice outside space to sit at with an awning and lots of inside tables. I opted for the blackened chicken salad which was fantastic, well chopped and dressed and every ingredient was delicious. The coffee was very good, the barista even made a fresh batch when I came in and ordered and they kindly provided a refill. I highly recommend stopping in!

This place is SO good! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent — friendly, quick, and attentive without being overbearing. The menu has so many great options, it’s almost impossible to pick because everything looked amazing. We loved the whole vibe — definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Bergen County. Can’t wait to go back soon!

Albert’s is a very good “neighborhood restaurant” with quality food, good service, and a relaxed vibe. Pros: Specials of the day are always excellent… quite literally have never had a bad one, BYOB encouraged, outdoor tables for nice weather where polite dogs are welcomed. Cons: The pizza isn’t the best around, some food prices seem high (but you save on alcohol)

Such an amazing place .. we met some friends up here and it was a great atmosphere.. the owner “Albert” greets you at the door . Such a nice friendly and funny guy! Made sure we were comfortable And gave us recommendations. Everything was so great and tasty . The porkchop and tuna nachos are amazing . Overall can’t wait to go back and thanks for the great dinner !

We dined here on Saturday arriving early for dinner at 445. We were told they could fit us in if we could depart by 6 due to reservations which was fine with us. What wasn’t fine was the feeling of being in a place that hadn’t opened up yet…a table being hauled into the space a few feet from us, our server’s focus on cleaning tables rather than checking on us. He checked on us one time and that was when our main was done. No eye contact as he walked by. No one else checked in. I am surprised by the comments made about friendly service as we both felt like an inconvenience. Our table was closer to the kitchen and the raised voices and chitchat that was occurring as if the restaurant wasn’t open was a total turnoff. Every customer should be made to feel important regardless of their arrival time. We will not visit again.

Came here twice. Food is very average, but service is pretty friendly. We ordered salmon Benedict, avocado toast, and a blacken chicken salad. Salad was very big portion, however chicken was a bit dry. For the price, i think i canr complain. Salmon Benedict and avocado toast both taste very mediocre. We havent try their pasta or omelette so we might give them another try. Since all the staff seemed pretty friendly there.

Arrived and I was greeted by Albert himself . He was so kind and generous. He directed us to our table and provided us with specials of the night with menu . This restaurant is BYOB . Everything was delicious and the space was cozy. My fav were the clams ! The sauce was delicious . I also took a cheesecake to go and it was creamy and tasty. Our waiter was attentive and very kind too . The staff were great and had such a great experience. I will be returning again soon . Thank you for a great experience.

I'm sorry to write this. In this case it was a mistake to not have sent my food back. This is a nice looking pleasent looking place with nice service my friend liked their turkey burger and Brownie. I liked my coconut cake. However I asked for my burger med rare. It was not it was raw and stringy. I think it had just been defrosted. My mistake for not sending it back. My server asked how I liked it and I told him. Good news I did not get ill. Sorry bout this one. I told the friend who recommended this place. I will not return.

Very cute local restaurant! The staff were friendly and food was good. We got the pizza and ink squid linguini which was a big hit. The pepperoni pizza was yummy too and big enough for 2-3 people.

We picked Albert's for a weekend lunch. Very nice restaurant in a very nice town. We were lucky to get a table right away around noon. The staff were super friendly amd welcoming. They have their own bakery at the entrance. The menu has a combination of appetizers, pasta sandwiches and pizzas. We got the mussels which was the best dish we had. Very well cooked and served in a tasty citrus broth. We got the margherita pizza which was not very tasty. I failed to see any mozzarella in it. The pasta was okay. I ordered the special sandwich too, which in the menu said sliced flat iron steak, but in the sandwich they were chunky rectangular pieces. The problem was when I took a bite, the whole chunk came out in one bite and rest of the sandwich became meatless. So I'd have really liked if the steak was actually sliced in thin layers, or be in much smaller cubes. But overall the sandwich had good taste. We were also charged for soup of the day that we never ordered. Lucky I noticed before leaving the restaurant. The staff were flexible to allow me to take some bakery items for the incorrect charge. I actually liked their bakery goods, the coconut macaroon and chocolate lollipops were actually good. Overall a nice restaurant but it's few towns away from us, probably we won't be anytime soon.

Great service. Very attentive staff. Nice and good seating. Clean. Street parking. I like the pizza and mussels. I feel Penne alla Vodka needs a little bit more seasoning. Zucchini is too thin to be fried. All I taste is oil. But overall it's not bad.

One of my absolute favorite spots to eat at! Whether for a quick bite to eat with friends, weekend brunch, or a nice date night Alberts will not leave you disappointed. The food is always phenomenal I have never had a meal I did not enjoy here. I recommend the penne vodka. It is so flavorful and filling youll be happy to have leftovers to bring home. The zucchini fritti appetizer is a must have for a nice snack before your meal. Today I popped in for a quick lunch with a coworker and ordered the broccoli cheddar soup and eggplant Parmesan sandwich with fries. The broccoli cheddar I have never had before and is delicious and perfect for a cold winter day and it wasn't too heavy. The eggplant was delicious and filling as always. I brought home the other half to eat for dinner. The fries are my favorite part as they are crispy, have the perfect amount of sea salt, and still have the skin on. My friend ordered the cheese steak sandwich and could not get over how great it was and how he grew up in the area and never tried Albert's. Safe to say he has a new favorite spot! Service is exceptional here. The staff are friendly and so efficient even when the restaurant is packed. In the warmer months it is great to dine outside here for lunch and brunch on the weekends.

Terrific spot for dinner. We had a number of different dishes and started off with steamers (superb choice) and a beet salad special. I had the chicken scarpeillo with sausages ...average, two of our friends had salmon which looked amazing. Food overall was well prepared and delicious. BYOB which also helps. Very nice setting and friendly ambience. Definitely worth another visit.

Alberts is our go to place and last night's dinner needless to say DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Food great...service great...always a nice greeting and thank you from Albert himself!! We look forward to next time!!

Service was subpar. Food was average. But will not be going back nor recommending. Too bad it's in a very nice town.

Great little gem in downtown Ho-Ho-Kus. This used to be the old Cafe Amici. The restaurant has stayed true to its Italian roots and soul. Our meals were all delicious. Chicken, seafood, vegetables and seafood are all on point. The staff is friendly and attentive. Decor is nice. Outdoor dining available weather permitting. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have lunch here often. The salads are fresh and plentiful. My favorite is the Spicy Thai Salad. My husband gets the Buffalo Chicken Cobb Salad. We also ordered the Zucchini Fritti which was crispy and delicious and enough to take some home. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Love the outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I highly recommend Albert's, it's a great place.

Nice wealth ambience full of character. However the food didn't fully meet our expectation. We order sweet spicy sausage pizza it's not brick oven with fresh dough. 3 out of 5, spaghetti meatballs asking for Dante. The pasta is mediocre but not made from scratch 2 out of 5. We had better meatball at cheesecake factory. Next with their weekly special osso buco with risotto its lack of flavored & the protein, rather chewy then butter soft 2 out of 5. Lastly the dessert cake pop not better than starbucks 3 out 5. Ridgewood & Westwood have much better Italian restaurant. it's just extremely competitive to be good

Went here with a friend on a Friday night--place was slammed! Immediately smelt so yummy as we walked in. We decided to split the Fried Artichoke appetizer, the Margherita Pizza and the Wild Mushroom Truffle Risotto. The artichokes were lightly fried and tender, the pizza was very good as well, slightly sweeter sauce which complimented the crispy crust nicely. The winner of the meal was the risotto...wow. So tasty, not too much truffle and a good amount of mushroom. It was rich but not too heavy, perfect amount of food to share. I would definitely come back here. My only complaints were how loud the place was, but on a busy Friday night, understandable and the service was not amazing. We waited awhile after we were seated for someone to come over and no one checked in while we were eating. But like I said, everything else was great and I'd go back!

An absolutely delicious meal, and I appreciate how the restaurant accommodates kids (we try to head in before 6:30). The specials are incredible, but you can't go wrong with that mushroom risotto. Also, the staff is beyond professional.

1. The Service- The service is absolutely amazing and the staff is extremely kind, attentive and friendly! 2. The Food- The food is absolutely amazing. There is no bad option. I'd recommend trying something new from the menu each time you come. My order always contains lemongrass mussels. My go-to at alberts. 3. The sit down area- I usually always order takeout from here. However the inside sit down is spacious, relaxing vibe and looks very comfortable. One day will come to sit and enjoy a wonderful meal. Overall I'd rate this a 10 if I could. The food, the staff and the entire vibe the restaurant offers is one of a kind and definitely a staple in the town of hohokus. I travel from fair lawn to hohokus specifically for Albert's most of the time. Thanks again!

Always such a great experience. I usually come here for sea food fra diavolo, but has been increasingly more of a lunch place for me too. The salads are great and I had a burger for first time yesterday - I would challenge a JG Melon honestly, it was very good, perfectly salted and perfectly cooked! I am always looking for a nice medium rare burger, usually disappointed but to embarrassed to send back, these guys nailed it!

This was my first time dining at Albert's, and it was delicious. Three of us had dinner and we ordered the following and shared it. Artichoke oregano, Franco Salad, Mission Fig Pizza and Rigatoni Arabiata. They served it to us all at once which was perfect. Being a byob i brought a chilled bite of Chablis which made the meal more enjoyable. Honestly all three of us enjoyed everything. Ambiance, could of been decorated a bit nicer but the food made up for it all. staff as well as the owner were all so kind and gracious. will definitely go back

Albert's is a great place for lunch or dinner. Food is good, service is very good, and the decor works. Seared tuna salad was certainly worth doing again!

Albert is an accommodating host and the food is fabulous, BYOB Do try the the baked clams!

Flawless food and service. This is an outstanding restaurant. Our first visit and we'll be back. Food: Chicken and vegetable dumplings appetizer. Delicous! 6 pieces good for sharing. Dumpling dough was thin and delicate. Stuffing was also delicate. Sauce was flavorful with a tad of heat. Just the right amount. Short Ribs. Delicous! Boneless and served over mashed potatoes with al dente veggies. Meat was so tender with an amazing red wine demi glaze. Melt in your mouth and luscious. Mashed potatoes were creamy and a great compliment to the meat. These Short Ribs were the best I have had in a very long time. Totally beats Cafe Panche in Ramsey. Orecchiette Carmine. Delicous! Great quality sweet sausage with a wonderful flavor. Broccoli rabe was tender with the right amount of bite and not too bitter. They nailed the cook on it. Perfect amount of evoo and roasted garlic in the sauce. Roasted garlic a nice touch. Gave the dish a bit of sweetness to counter the broccoli rabe. IMO, didn't need the tomatoes in the dish. Could have used a few more pieces of sausage. Coconut Cake Delicous! Fresh and fluffy cake with a not too sweet frosting. Large portion for sharing (at least for us). I can't vouch for the rest of the menu, but we are definitely coming back to try more of their menu items. Service: OUTSTANDING! I usually don't comment too much on service because it's all about the food and I am forgiving particularly given the difficulty restaurants are having with service help...BUT...the service here is so outstanding I have to comment. A Thursday night at 7P and they were totally booked. We didn't have a reservation. They apologized and offered us a table in the Bakery area that they could set up for us. Not a usually dining spot. It was set up in minutes. When a table became available in the dining room, they offered to move us. We had only started with bread so the timing was perfect. The servers are so pleasant and accommodating. They were quick to service us and keep track of us during the meal but not overbearing. I haven't had this quality of service in a very long time. They did everything right!!!! Ambience observation: Only thing to consider is the tables are very tight and the restaurant is noisy.

We had a family dinner here. Theres outside dining too. Reservations are a must, for inside dining. We were running late so we missed our reservations but we were able to eat outside. There were heaters which helped because that night was a tad cold. The food was delicious. Everything was great.

Found a new favorite restaurant! Alberts has some outside seating and then inside dining which is very cozy and modern and spacious. The bread and tomato spread they give is delicious...started off the experience right! Then I got the chicken Milanese and wow I could have finished the whole thing. The chicken was crispy and not greasy. The salad was light and tasty - made the perfect match. The coconut cake is a must get. I may have to go back and order a whole cake to bring home. Free parking and it's a BYOB. Go try it out!

The food is great - pizza is nice and light and WOW what can I say about the cannoli the cream is out of this world - I have been twice but the only problem I had when I went the second time I was rushed and told there was another big crowd coming and no one showed up but I will say the atmosphere outside is nice and maybe the server was having a bad day

I came to Albert's to celebrate a friends birthday. I had made a reservation, and I am glad I did because it was busy. Albert's is BYOB, and has an extensive menu as well as a changing list of daily specials. For appetizers we did the mussels and the artichoke and fennel salad. I liked that there was no lettuce in the salad and it still felt very full. The mussels were great, and that broth was delicious. It came with crostini but I wish I had saved the bread that came in the beginning to soak up the broth. For dinner I had the bolognese and my friend had the pork chop caprese. I thought my sauce had a lot of great flavor and was the perfect portion. My friends pork didn't have much flavor and was a bit dry (but tasted great dipped in my sauce). For dessert I had carrot cake and my friend had coconut cake. They had a nice selection of stash tea to end the evening. I would definitely come again to try their brunch or lunch options.

A solid 4. BYOB and good vibes. Great location and a lovely space. Super casual given the menu. The food was good. Meatballs and mussels. Mushroom risotto and chicken scarpariella. The service was pleasant. The bread wasn't soft or warm (but we came at an odd time). Did I enjoy it? Sure. Was it memorable? Not particularly - but the coconut cake was insanely great. Would I return? Probably. If you're unsure - just go - it'll be good.

I was here with some friends for lunch last week. The waiter frowned when he saw a table of women. I guess he expects them to be low tippers and/or high maintenance. The service reflected his disinterest. The menu is wonderful with options for everyone. I ordered the buffalo chicken Cobb. The chicken was great but there was way too much dressing and all the other ingredients were mashed together. One friend did not get her order as requested and he ignored her remark. The other orders were fine. They used to have tablecloths on the tables but no more. I would give this place another try based on all the other reviews.

There is indoor and sidewalk seating. Love that is BYOB. The menu is extensive and we could not decide what to get so we shared three dishes. The flatbread was ok. I would not recommend that chicken milanese, it was pretty flavorless. Zucchini fries were yummy but there's only so many of them that you can eat. was excited to try coconut cake but it was dry and crumbly. looked good though

This is a great local place that's been consistently good whether dining in, dining al fresco or doing takeout (the latter two are all I have done since the pandemic). The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is fresh and delicious. It's BYOB so you're guaranteed to drink your wine of choice! This restaurant adheres to all of the COVID-19 pandemic rules and offers hand sanitizer outside and inside. Oh, and they also have heaters outside if you prefer to dine al fresco like me! In addition to the delicious meals they offer amazing home-made desserts and treats. I highly recommend the cheesecake and key lime pie!

Happened to be in Hohokus and stopped at Albert's for lunch (group of 4) it was a weekday but it was pretty busy. We walked in and there wasn't a hostess, we kind of waited for someone to come out from the back, we were seated and boy was the service not great. We were starving and put in for an appetizer - it came out with our entrees. Defeated the purpose of fried calamari appetizer. Our waitress essentially disappeared so we kept having to stop anyone we could and they all seemed annoyed. Food was mediocre. Sad because it looks so beautiful from the outside.

Passed by this place on our way home and decided to give it a try because it has outdoor dining and heaters. But apparently heaters are only available for parties of four as they are placed by the tables that arrive parties of four. And no, a party of two can not sit there on the off chance a. Party of four shows up. My husband enjoyed his frittata and I had the turkey sandwich with Brie. It was tasty, but the chutney was a bit similar to jam and the chips were over cooked and under salted. Over all a decent lunch. Would have been nice to be offered a refill on our ice tea but hey, they were waiting in those parties of four.

This is my second time back at this location. Couldn't stop fantasizing about the Penne allá vodka ! It's so rich in flavor and creamy. (Side bar : I am super picky with my penne allá vodka!) it is rare for me to enjoy it from anywhere than at home. However albert's offers such an array of food and everything I've tried so far has not disappointed. Also the carrot cake is amazing !

I've known Albert for many years and have been dining at Albert's HoHoKus since he's been open. All I can say is that he, and his restaurant has gotten better every year. It's a smarty decorated room with beautiful art pieces by wonderful local artists decorating the brick walls. The wait staff are incredibly efficient, as is the kitchen. Service is great, without being overbearing. As for the food. The menu is traditionally Italian but not American Italian. They offer wonderful seafood, steak and meat dishes as well. Desserts are sublime. Albert works the room to make all feel that they are appreciated and welcome. Albert's is a must, and staple for those in north west Bergen county and for those looking for a fine dining experience. Cheers Albert and thanks for all our wonderful meals.

Killer neighborhood place. Very welcoming atmosphere and the food is a cut above. From the Balthazar bread on the table to the Dover sole that would embarrass many NYC restaurants, the food is the focus here. A winner and great value. BYO!

Absolutely love this place!! The food is consistently good! We eat here at least twice a month, sometimes more. Their tuna nachos, flat-iron steak and halibut are some of our favorites. The desserts are to die for... a lot of variety ... our favorites are the gelato, tartufo and huge chocolate chip cookie. The service is always great .... the owner Albert and waitstaff are super friendly!

The restaurant was completely booked and yet food and service were wonderful! Delicious homemade tagliatelle with scallops and crab in a wonderful sauce- chicken Milanese spot on , spaghetti and meatballs and black squid pasta with seafood - loved by all

Our absolute favorite, go-to restaurant. The service is great - the owner is welcoming (even once escorted our toddler to the c-store next door to buy some candy) and all the wait staff is great, especially Jason who is incredibly kind. Food is excellent quality and fairly priced for how good it is. Pastas are cooked perfect al dente. Great meat dishes especially the pork chop french cut. The desserts are quite good as well - love the coconut cake. Because it's not huge it isn't quiet but we've never found it to be uncomfortably loud and it has a great ambience.

My wife and I loved our dinner at Albert's, and recommend it highly. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and indeed what we ordered was beautifully prepared and cooked perfectly. The waiters were efficient, friendly, and polite, and sitting outdoors made it all the more special. Thank you... we'll be back!

Wasn't planning on coming to this restaurant, but so glad we did. Great service, so friendly. Food is just as good. Will definitely be coming back to check out other entrees.

We hosted my mother in laws birthday brunch there and it was absolutely wonderful! The food was fantastic, the service was so lovely and they were so kind and accommodating.
