Amazing gem of a vegetarian restaurant. Super cheap food with great variety and excellent quality. We spent some 30% more than the average McMeal and we're served excellent, plentiful food. Amazing people and atmosphere as well. Highly recommended, not only for vegans and vegetarians.

Went here for vegetarian food on a recent holiday to Barcelona. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Starter, main, drink and coffee for less than €20. Absolute bargain for the quality, quantity and flavour in just a lovely restaurant.

Wonderful dining experience! The food is excellent, so many choices for vegans and vegetarians. Friendly staff, nice decor and reasonable prices. We will be back regularly and suggest this restaurant when we done with other veg friendly families.

Stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, and it was a pleasant surprise. I had the lunch menu for €13, and the food was tasty. I would recommend this place to vegetarians visiting the area.

The food is nice and everything is homemade. This is a nice address for our vegetarian friends as everything here has been thought for you. The daily menu has a very good price and the staff is friendly. Food was not exceptional but it was still good.

Not bad but not good either. They have a daily menu which seems to be the same every day. Many vegetarian options could easily be veganized. Starters were a bit bland, mains were somewhat better, dessert was good (chocolate carrot cake). Good enough to be there once in a lifetime, not good enough to repeat.

My friend and I walked a long way to get here based on a list of best vegetarian tapas restaurants in Barcelona, and we were not disappointed! Excellent service, the food is absolutely delicious and creative, and you get SO MUCH for so cheap! We couldn't even completely finish. Highly highly recommend making a stop to eat here.

Yelp
Cool place for a vegetarian meal, but barely any choices on the menu. The food is okay, nothing great. You can pick from burritos, falafel, salads. However, biggest surprise is their chocolate carrot cake. Wow. Best carrot cake I have ever had! Even if you're not a vegetarian, it's worth going for the cake.

Yelp
Great vegetarian spot in Barcelona. Although there was a rather good looking buffet spread, I chose two plates off the menú del día. The first was pita, hummus, and a salad. Although the pita was rather thin, and the salad pretty bare, the hummus was to die for. For the second plate I chose croquettes. As a vegetarian, I have always lamented the fact that Spaniards usually throw ham into these balls of fried cheese and potato, but not at Amaltea! These yucca and cheese croquettes came with sweet pineapple jam - what an amazing twist on a Spanish classic! I usually go for coffee, but was tempted by their chocolate and carrot cake for dessert. It was unlike anything I've ever had and highly recommend it! They also had a very nice tea list. Staff was very warm and created a cool, casual atmosphere!

Yelp
As usual in Spain, there is a daily menu between Monday and Friday where you can partake of a starter, a main course, a dessert and coffee for a cost of between ten and fifteen euros (approximately). You can select from a choice of four starters and four main dishes, with several desserts to choose from. Amaltea use organic tofu, seitan, cereals, pulses and some of the vegetables are organic too apparently. All their bread and desserts are home-made. The menu consists of many oriental dishes such as brown rice with vegetables and curry dishes. The food is ok and the service is slow but the staff are pleasant. The desserts are particularly good. Yelp
It was a welcomed vegan (friendly) restaurant in a city by and large unfriendly (presently) to vegetarians (although Barcelona has come a long way in this regard in the 10 years since my last visit). The food was not amazing, but it was very good. The carrot cake was exceptionally delicious however. The prices were fair, but not cheap. I would happily eat there again. This restaurant is indicative of a city slowly learning how to create quality vegan fare.
