Yelp
When you think touristy hotel near the railway station with a buffet for dinner, you have a certain expectation. This place exceeded it in every way. A large spread of local cheeses, including the goat, and the brown cheese, was a great start. Another bar with cured meats, smoked fish- cod, salmon, trout, and pickled herring was all really good. Multiple hot items- fish, lamb, and meat. A fruit and salad bar with above average everything. And a whole suite of homemade sweets to top it off. A full international wine list, and a selection of tasty local beer and ciders. I was very pleasantly surprised with the whole dinner. The restaurant is very nice inside, with upscale decor and a friendly staff. Must make reservations.

Yelp
I'm shocked that this restaurant doesn't have much love on Yelp. How, I have heard that they are pretty popular on Travel Advisor. Either way, I feel that this review is necessary. Restaurant Arven has it all. Delicious food. Amazing staff. Beautiful views. Wonderful atmosphere. My rundown: -Kristine (our waitress) was absolutely wonderful. She was patient, kind and accommodating. -The champagne and wine selection was top notch. -The bread was fresh, soft and flavorful. -The vegetarian plate and salad that was prepared for me by the chef was beyond delicious. The vegetables and greens were extremely fresh. -I was told that the cod was cooked to perfection and tasted like it had been caught within hours of being cooked. -The leak and potato soup was light yet flavorful. -The desserts were wonderful. If I had to choose between the white chocolate soup and the creme brûlée, I would pick the white chocolate soup. Overall, I loved this restaurant. If you are in Flam and want to enjoy a nice dinner, stop by at this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 4, 2 days ahead. Was sad to have a party of 2 sat in the last table for 4 just ahead of us when other tables for 2 were available. Only option was a table in the back with no view which really changes the experience particularly for the price. Seems they favor hotel guests over those staying elsewhere. If you really are looking for the best view and assurance of a great table, book closer to the fjord.

Yelp
This restaurant is in the hotel Fretheim, Flåm. Last night we had the buffet, which is world-class. There are many delicious salad-course entries. Many choices for seafood; just about any you could imagine. Mussels, shrimp, salmon, herring, and varieties and fish. I had a beef item for my main course, but there were many other options. Dessert choices too numerous to count. There is at least one other restaurant in the hotel.

Yelp
This restaurant's buffet was absolutely amazing. Abundant choices of fish, seafood, beef, lamb, vegetables, salads, cheeses, breads, desserts, etc. High quality all around. Both cured salmon and smoked salmon, fresh mussels, crab legs, shrimp, whale, and so much more. Best desserts were panna cotta and chocolate mousse. Also great vanilla bean ice cream. It was a veritable Feast for only $60. Service was excellent and attentive. If you like Porter beer then ask for the local one, it was great. You can eat yourself into Oblivion and pay the price later. The buffet is available through High season and they revert to an a la carte menu in October.

Yelp
The Lonely Planet recommended this restaurant and is did not disappoint. Reservations are needed. There is a short menu from which to order, or select from a variety of local Norwegian foods. The food was flavorful, varied, interesting, and delicious. The wait staff was courteous and professional. Want to try a variety of local foods, eat here.
