Large Portions, but tired Ambiance
My visit to Restaurant Austria this evening left me with rather mixed impressions.
On the positive side, we were seated without a reservation on a busy Advent evening, which was appreciated. The service was quick both in taking our order and bringing the food.
We ordered goulash, a schnitzel, a couple of beers, dessert, and coffee. The goulash was not bad, the schnitzel was notably large in portion, and the dessert was generous as well.
However, the overall experience felt incomplete and somewhat lacking. Perhaps Austrian cuisine is simply not to my personal taste, but I also felt the atmosphere was not particularly comfortable. While many praise this restaurant, I found the prices to be somewhat inflated for what was offered.
The main drawback, in my opinion, is the interior. To put it mildly, it feels tired. One specific detail that caught my eye: a picture had been removed from the wall, but the lonely nails were left in plain sight, staring blankly at the guests. Such a small, neglected detail unfortunately contributes to a feeling of inattentiveness and diminishes the overall ambiance.
In conclusion: decent portions and efficient service, but the value for money and the worn-out atmosphere didn’t live up to the hype for me.
