My visit wasn't planned. I was at the castle and happened to come across this restaurant. Since I hadn’t had breakfast, I decided to have lunch here. The food was amazing – the crispy skin and tender meat were perfectly cooked, making it a truly satisfying meal. The portion was huge though, that I couldn't finish it.

Traditional German Restaurant in Nuremberg This charming restaurant is perfectly located next to the famous Nuremberg Castle, adding to its enchanting atmosphere. I tried the local dish Schäufele, a special pork cut cooked for three hours, tender like butter, and paired it with a slightly smoky dark beer. It’s easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Germany. The service was outstanding—friendly and attentive from start to finish. They even offered a beer tasting to help me choose the right one. The architecture is also worth noting, reflecting the traditional Nuremberg style, and there’s a terrace with a view of the castle and city. Though it was too windy and cold to sit outside, the indoor setting was cozy and inviting. Prices are fair, and the location is ideal if you’re visiting the castle and surrounding area. I would return to Nuremberg just to dine here again. 5/5!

We all loved what we ordered. Kiddos ordered schnitzel junior platters and a side of cheese spätzel. Adults ordered bratwurst platters. Sauerkraut and kartoffelsalat were excellent. Danke schön.

This place is awesome! we ducked in from the cold weather after visiting the nearby castle. Despite being right next to a major tourist attraction, the price are normal and its good value for the size of the potion (the roast pork shoulder is MASSIVE!) Genuine , friendly service, great food and a relaxing place to have lunch or dinner.

The staff was very polite. Food was good. We took a soup as a starter and two main dishes. Although the quality was decent, it was very heavy. Prices are also in a good range given the location. Four stars overall

Good local food in a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff, got a bit overwhelmed during busy hour (how to get the bill: just block staff at the till, let them not escape). Good place!

Nice spot in the castle wall. Really cool to dine underneath the gaze of the tower. Good amount of out door seating and importantly almost all of it covered. This spot Was much less busy than the otheside of the castle where the Durer museum is. Enjoyed the famous Nuremberger sausages and a small pretzel with cheese spread. Beer is warm but good. Our server was a super friendly and attentive guy. Like all places around this area prices bit high.

Yelp
This place is an interesting Inn offering many goodies of the Nürnberger/Nuremberg Cuisine and it's easy to reach since the Burgwächter is located right in the center of Old Town Nuremberg on the way uphill the famous castle. The staff is friendly and if the weather is pleasant you can sit outside in the patio, in an arbor surrounded and even roofed by green, where you can enjoy your meal as we did. We had two portions of the famous Nürnberger Rostbratwurst in a roll with mustard together with a local beer. This dish is delicious and super famous and one of the reasons Nuremberg is known for all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland and beyond. Oh, and by the way just in case you don't know it so far, if you are in Nuremberg or in other parts of Franconia don't dare to remind the locals that they are politically a part of Bavaria, since you have to know that the Bavarians and the Franconians are the decendents of different tribes and so many of the Franconians still consider the Bavarians in the south as a sort of occupying power. Anyway, just keep history in mind and its still existing impact on today. From Nuremberg with love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

Yelp
This is the cutest and most quaint place in all of Nuremburg! There isn't much seating but the seating they do have is surrounded by vines and flowers, a view of the city or the Castle. Since I don't love German cuisine I got a salad and the raspberry dessert. Both were lovely as I could tell the dressing was handmade and the dessert was perfectly sweet. Loved coming here and would come again. Just know, it's a little pricey as I paid 11 euro for a salad.

Yelp
The place was fine. The prices were a bit higher than just down the street, which is to be expected given its location. BUT, DO NOT ORDER WATER! They charge 2.50 Euros for TAP WATER! We ordered without realizing it, and we were told that they filter their water. Cool story. How about warning us that you charge? After all, I had a nalgene of water right there in front of me.

Yelp
Bad food, high priced. Waiter asked why we don't want to have a second beer within 15min.

Yelp
Great spot to stop and have some pretzels and beer. We only ordered the pomme frites and pretzels. They have a good beer selection and the place has a ton of character. The staff was friendly and the hot chocolate was good. Sorry we didn't try any of the entree

Yelp
After the climb to the entrance of Kaiserberg, kids decided the were starving. Many restaurants keep dinner hours, so weren't sure if they were open. (Tip) Alot of outdoor menus do not reflect restaurant hours. Pretzels are served as appetizers for €1.20. Who can resist. Familiar with European customs, it's been intresting showing my children that free is not a word used often on the continent :). They speak English here and are very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend the Nurn-burger. I had the Curry wurst and 2 Dunkels. Would def come back for the atmosphere alone.

Yelp
Another great random find, nestled in the shadow of Nürnberg castle. Even though the tables on their nice outdoor patio were marked "reserved" the waitress seated us there immediately, which was really nice on a very pleasant late summer evening. They brought out a basket of pretzels - which I think might have been sitting out for a little while, as they were quite stale. Would probably have been good fresh, but honestly a little hard to tell. I ordered currywurst for me entree, and my coworker a sort of pork shoulder dish. He asked for recommendations from the waitress, who kind of wavered between two options, but I think the pork shoulder was the best choice - he certainly didn't leave any behind. As for my currywurst, it was pretty awesome. Really good sausage, smothered in that kind of sweet stereotypical curry sauce (which I love, don't get me wrong), sprinkled with french fried onions and served with kartoffelecke that were well seasoned with a nice crisp fried outside. Suffice to say that I ate all of it. I also ordered a side of spätzle but was a little disappointed there. There were some of the kind of irreglar blobby pieces that i associate with spätzle, but most of it almost looked like cut up noodles, a little larger in cross section than spaghetti. It tasted fine, but didn't have quite the right consistency for me. It was a huge side order though, be warned. Waitress was very friendly and helpful, and the price was stupidly reasonable - entrees + side + a pretzel or two and a beer was something like 34 Euro. Just seemed incredibly inexpensive given that it was in maybe a little bit of a touristy location. Maybe I'm assuming all of continental Europe is like Scandinavia, and I am apparently wrong.

Yelp
Not the best service or food here. I give it 3 stars for the beer selection. It's the first place before the Nurnberg Castle so we needed a quick drink. Nothing fancy about this place. Prices are reasonable and they have a beer takeaway menu.
