What a culinary experience! My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon. It was a cruise around Europe and we had just ONE port day in Barcelona. We did extensive research to find the most ideal, authentic, charming, and most of all DELICIOUS Catalan cuisine. Even with all the anticipation and high expectations, we were still blown away by Cal Boter. We were introduced to Cal Boter thanks to an episode of Diners, Drive In's, and Dives. This meal was an adventure right from the start. Upon approaching the entrance, we noticed a small crowd at the host stand. There was not an empty table in the house! We waited patiently with the rest of hopefuls for a table. A line even started to form behind us! Fortunately we were the last party the could seat for the day, it was THAT popular. Our appetizer was divine, their signature escargot. The buttery, garlicky, meaty morsels just popped in your mouth and burst with flavor. My husband and I devoured our plate in moments. For our entrée, we both opted for the rabbit. I'd never tried rabbit before and was a little hesitant I wouldn't like it. Was I ever wrong! The rabbit was so moist, so lean, and so flavorful neither of us needed a single condiment. My spouse and I are both condiment-junkies (BBQ especially) but we didn't dare sauce up this already-perfect dish. Finally, as if the experience wasn't already ideal, we had so much fun interacting with the staff. Joan and Gustavo provided excellent service, advice, and recommendations. I really got into fan-girl mode when I got to meet THE Pau Boter from the Triple D episode! Thank goodness for their open kitchen! I was nervous to approach him (he was obviously super busy!!) so Joan and Gustavo were nice enough to ask him if he had a spare moment on my behalf. Thanks everyone for the experience. I am already planning a trip back to Europe - this time with more than 1-day in Barcelona. I can guarantee my husband and I will be back to branch out even further! 10/10!
