This is an absolute banger of a traditional Catalan restaurant. Just the right distance out of town to keep too many tourists from swamping the place out. Though certainly on the radar of any self respect local, so expect to qué for a table (especially on weekends). We got lucky and got a big table up back without any wait but by the time we left we had to.part the season if humans like gastronomical Moses! Order everything, it's all good! We went with the snails, pork cheek, rabbit and a few cold starters. Good wine options also, servers all very knowledgeable and speak multiple languages. For a multi course meal with wine it came to a very reasonable €20-25 each between 6. Great value for money for one of Barcelona's last traditional Catalan eateries. The decor alone is worth a visit! I forgot to photograph the food as I was enjoying the interior too much.. Do yourself a favour when in town and if you only get one decent local meal, try this place! Thanks team Cal Boter!

Lunch at CAL BOTER is a little adventure! The set menu is super cute – a quirky mix of appetizer, main, and dessert. The portions aren’t huge, but honestly, just enough to leave you happily satisfied. Lunchtime is bustling, so expect a short wait; the place is buzzing with people and energy. The staff are all over it though – everyone knows their role perfectly. The barista is rocking the drinks, the counter staff handle orders like pros, and the servers glide between tables like ninjas. It’s busy, it’s lively, and it works like clockwork makes the short wait totally worth it!

A solid experience at Restaurant Cal Boter, although a bit overhyped. My friend and I came here an hour before closing, but there was still a gigantic line on the outside! We waited about 30 minutes before getting in, and we ordered the menu del dia for 16 euros per person. We each ordered two meat dishes, a beer, and a dessert. Overall, everything was solid. The sausage was really tasty with the beans, the fries and steak were good (although the steak was very thin), and the mel i mato for dessert was very good too. I think the portion was a bit small (I don't know if it's because I'm fat or what), but I'd still recommend it for the service and rustic ambiance. They speak English as well!

This place offers Menú del Dia and it is absolutely fantastic. You get so much for an affordable price, a compelte meal and it is so delicious. Also the entire staff is so friendly and makes a great atmosphere. Highly recommend 👌

What a delicious hefty brunch!! It was our very first sit-down meal in Spain. Everything, including the olive oil, was tasty. The staff was warm and the ambiance cozy.

I asked the waitress to make my order for me based on the menu I wasn’t able to read. I told her I liked everything and she did not disappoint. Great experience and great food.

After having watched @Locavore Eats YT vidéo featuring Cal Boter, i went and tried my luck on a Saturday evening of Jan 2025 without a réservation. Unfortunately, it was full and i didnt get in. That added some thrill to the whole experience. ☝️ Call for reservation. Mar 3. Lunch time. i was well taken care of Marta who is fluent english. Isabelle even a non english speaking was nice too. Food is great though its a shame that i made a mistake by having a real heavy breakfast at La Coca Fada so i had no more space for dessert. Lesson learned Surprising to know that one of their chef or the main chef( if im not mistaken) is a Filipino 🇵🇭. Now i know why food is great at Cal Boter!! See you soon Cal Boter. See you soon Kuya Avelino!

We had a wonderful experience at this Catalan restaurant. The menu offered a great selection of traditional Catalan dishes, and everything we tried was both delicious and served hot. The flavors were authentic and truly satisfying. What made our visit even more special was the excellent service. Our waiter was very attentive, kind, and spoke great English, which made everything easy and enjoyable for us. She guided us through the menu and made sure we had a perfect dining experience. Overall, we were very pleased with everything the food, the atmosphere, and especially the service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great restaurant to try Catalan food in barcelona. Tucked away in one of the narrow streets, Cal Boter is definitely something to try when you're in the area- and it seems like a lot of people know this. There was a line when we got there, but we were able to get in even though we didn't have a reservation. Food was excellent. We were able to try ox tail, snails, ibercio ham, manchego cheese and more (don't forget the tinto de verrano). Service was quick and the environment was very nice and cozy. A great experience when visiting the Gracia area with very reasonable prices!

Yelp
Excellent menu del dia for lunch around $14 which includes app, entree, dessert and one drink. Pork cheek was excellent and waiter was patient in translating each dish for us.

Yelp
I really wanted to try authentic Catalan food when I was in Barcelona, and this spot was within walking distance of my Airbnb. We went for breakfast, and was told that they didn't have any eggs for breakfast...which was PERFECT bc I actually wanted to try their regular menu! I had the oxtail dish which came with rice and it was absolutely delicious! The sauce was gravy like and perfectly seasoned. The dish was hearty and filling. (It beats the oxtail I would later have in Madrid...at some place Bourdain ate at....but if you're ever in Portland Oregon, go for the oxtail at Pambiche!) My friend had an octopus dish which she loved as well. The younger guy who worked there was kind enough to use his rusty English to communicate with us, which we appreciated.

Yelp
Traditional Catalunya dinner. We ordered many tapas a bottle of wine and were pleased with everything we ate and drank. The service was good, not the best, but it didn't impact our dinner.

Yelp
We went to Cal Boter for lunch. The menu is written in Catalan but the staff was very nice and translated it for us. They offer a 3 course lunch with wine for 12 euros. What a deal!! The food was good and the restaurant is located in the Gracia neighborhood which was one of our favorites neighborhoods in Barcelona. If you're looking for a good cheap option outside of the super touristy area, I highly recommend Cal Boter!

Yelp
What a culinary experience! My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon. It was a cruise around Europe and we had just ONE port day in Barcelona. We did extensive research to find the most ideal, authentic, charming, and most of all DELICIOUS Catalan cuisine. Even with all the anticipation and high expectations, we were still blown away by Cal Boter. We were introduced to Cal Boter thanks to an episode of Diners, Drive In's, and Dives. This meal was an adventure right from the start. Upon approaching the entrance, we noticed a small crowd at the host stand. There was not an empty table in the house! We waited patiently with the rest of hopefuls for a table. A line even started to form behind us! Fortunately we were the last party the could seat for the day, it was THAT popular. Our appetizer was divine, their signature escargot. The buttery, garlicky, meaty morsels just popped in your mouth and burst with flavor. My husband and I devoured our plate in moments. For our entrée, we both opted for the rabbit. I'd never tried rabbit before and was a little hesitant I wouldn't like it. Was I ever wrong! The rabbit was so moist, so lean, and so flavorful neither of us needed a single condiment. My spouse and I are both condiment-junkies (BBQ especially) but we didn't dare sauce up this already-perfect dish. Finally, as if the experience wasn't already ideal, we had so much fun interacting with the staff. Joan and Gustavo provided excellent service, advice, and recommendations. I really got into fan-girl mode when I got to meet THE Pau Boter from the Triple D episode! Thank goodness for their open kitchen! I was nervous to approach him (he was obviously super busy!!) so Joan and Gustavo were nice enough to ask him if he had a spare moment on my behalf. Thanks everyone for the experience. I am already planning a trip back to Europe - this time with more than 1-day in Barcelona. I can guarantee my husband and I will be back to branch out even further! 10/10!

Yelp

Yelp
One of Gràcia's best-known old restaurants, with great service and an unforgettable baked cod. The lunchtime menu is very good. Book at weekends, as it fills up quickly. Family owned, I strongly recommend it

Yelp
Excellent! The food is delicious. I had daily special wild mushrooms and eggs. My friend had the oxtail and then chocolate mousse. All delicious. The English speaking waitress was very helpful and they have English menus. Great variety of food choices. Great local feel. Excellent!

Yelp

Yelp
We got here early at noon only to realize that they are not open yet. We came back exactly at 1PM and found ourselves a seat easily but not only 30 minutes later, there was a fat line outside and most of those people in line were locals. The staff were really friendly and they were able to explain the menu to us in detail. We had the menu del dia which was only about 12 euros and I must say, it was a lot of food(three courses) with a carafe of wine. One of those Carafes is for one person! There must be at two to three glasses of wine in there. The value for the meal is definitely there and you get to try some authentic Catalan cuisine. I saw some locals eating there for lunch by themselves. I saw one older gentlemen that looked to be in his mid 60s start his lunch with a shot of Jameson and then had a menu del dia on top of that! Would definitely come back here for some local food. I have to add that their steak and fries were subpar compared to the traditional steak and fries. The steak was really thin and really dried out -- a big no no in my book.

Yelp
Simple unpretentious food. Reopened yesterday after their hols. and the locals were lining up at the door !!! All the staff were very friendly and spent time (despite being so busy) explaining the menu to us in English ! Definitely going back to try their dinner menu.
