Outstanding food and service! The squid ink pasta, was the best pasta dish I have ever eaten. Starters, dessert and wine was also 10/10

Restaurant Calisto, located on the ground floor of Calisto hotel, is a great option for Italian cuisine in Amsterdam. With generous portions, fresh ingredients and simply delicious food, it is a great value especially by Amsterdam standards. Led by the chef Stefano Orofino, Calisto offers high quality dining experience without resorting to fancy techniques or ingredients and just sticking to classics. Their a la carte menu is on the smaller side but there's something for everyone. Along with the food, they serve a wide selection of Italian and French wines, mostly natural/biodynamic producers but also some classics as well. The atmosphere is very cozy, and you have different options to choose from dining at a table, at the bar or by the window. Service is very fast and the staff is friendly and helpful, they know their food and the wines they serve well. Even on the busiest nights, they are very attentive and do their best. If you want to make sure you enjoy your dinner slowly, I recommend going for the 2nd seating. Overall we really enjoyed our meal the last time we were at Calisto, although we overstayed our welcome :) we will definitely be back!

A fantastic spot to celebrate a birthday! We were made to feel incredibly welcome, and the service was faultless throughout. The food is truly exceptional. We chose the Chef’s Selection menu, and it took us on an unforgettable culinary journey. We’ll definitely be coming back. Can’t recommend this place highly enough—such a memorable experience!

The food was okay. It lacked a bit of sauce and there where no truffle slices in the truffle pasta. The atmosphere was okay, it was very noisy and the decor was pretty basic. The waiters where really kind and helpful. The bread alone is a good reason to come here! Fennel butter is delicious!

Interesting Italian menu, we had a wonderful dinner for a special occasion. You must book and advance. They don’t accept cash.

I can only recommend this place! After a short wait at the bar we were able to get to our table - the friendly staff helped us take our drinks and our dog to the table and recommended great drinks and starters. Afterwards we got what was probably the best pasta I've ever eaten with octopus and bone marrow! So delicious!! It was our 2nd visit and we will definitely be back! THANK YOU

We came back for more after first visiting two years ago. So glad we did - food was just as good as we remembered, as was the cosy but very vibey neighbourhood restaurant feel with interesting Italian dishes (for the pasta, think Marcella in Deptford, London). Amazing chicken liver, cavolo nero pasta with black garlic, hamachi, and hare ragu dishes. Great music that is loud enough so you don’t hear the next table very close to you but not so much that you’re shouting to hear your dinner companion. And the service is just so spot on - attentive and friendly, plus they referenced our previous visit and gave us a glass of cava, a very nice touch. Do book in advance if you can. Not much to improve except maybe a little less sweet/more bitter on the negronis. Well done and thank you for another great meal - we’ll be baaaaaack! Ps. Their sister restaurant Cafe Binnenvisser is nice but way too crowded and more of a wine bar - we personally preferred Calisto

Nice food and amazing atmosphere. The service is friendly but they can be a bit more organized. Would still recommend
