Restaurant Casa do José

A very nice restaurant in Karlsruhe that offers a warm and authentic taste of Portuguese hospitality right in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with rustic touches and a casual charm that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a leisurely meal. The food here is hearty and flavorful, with traditional Portuguese dishes taking center stage. Expect decently sized portions (for the cost, they could be a little bit more generous, as my friend walked away still hungry) of grilled meats, seafood, and rich stews, all prepared with care. Their bacalhau (salted cod) dishes are particularly noteworthy, and the daily specials often include comforting favorites that rotate based on fresh ingredients. Service is friendly and personal, and José himself is often around, greeting guests and making sure everyone feels at home. It’s the kind of place where you’re treated like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Casa do José is a great choice for anyone craving authentic Portuguese cuisine in a laid-back setting, whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch, a group dinner, or a glass of vinho verde with friends.

Very nice local restaurant. The octopus is the best thing we had, absolutely delicious. The sides were a little bit too oily, but still tasted fantastic. The waiters were very friendly and helpful, suggesting some gorgeous wines. Very large portion for starter which is great value, but also good quality. Would definitely return.

Cintia was a great host. We were a big group and some of us had allergy issues but she really took care of us! I would definitely recommend it!

Great food, really authentic and nice flavors. Treated us nicely even though we were late. The octopus in combination with the Wirsing is a must try.

As we are foreigners, we were not familiar with the menu, but the male server guided us very kindly. The food was also very good.
