RESTAURANT CHEZ HUGUETTE

The other reviews here range from 1 to 5 stars, so we asked advice from a local bar owner (Café Corsica), who reassured us as to the quality and reputation of the place Local oysters (delicious) for me, poulpe (perfectly lightly cooked) for my partner, followed by 2 x spaghetti Buttarga (absolutely delicious in taste and presentation). Everything was superb, including the service. We were lucky to have a table on the terrace facing the port, which added to the ambiance. I finished off with a homemade lemon tart and coffee with a Cognac. We were still talking about the wonderful meal the next day. Thanks to the owner and staff!

Delicious meal at this excellent restaurant overlooking the old port. Great service, superb local rosé wine, locally caught fresh fish.

My husband and I were enticed by the displayed oysters and their presence on the menu, suggesting a welcoming atmosphere. However, the waiter rudely informed us in French that reservations are mandatory, even though we only wanted wine and oysters at a late hour. Such haughty and dismissive treatment is unacceptable for a high-end restaurant and is frankly humiliating. AVOID

Food was really fantastic, staff lady was kind but the staff men could be more plesant. I know it was very hot weather and it is hard work in it. But i want share not only good food but also service. There is still lot to improve ... but i recommend this place.

We were looking for a nice restaurant at the port of Bastia to get some seafood delicacies. After a while we found this lovely looking restaurant. Sadly enough, we weren’t able to buy any food because the staff expected us to pay a couple of hundred euros for dinner! We were told in a nasty voice: “We are not a bistro, you need to LEAVE NOW!” I wouldn’t recommend anybody to eat there due to very poor behaviour of the restaurant's attitude towards guests.

The food,mostly seafood but they have other food as well, is really nice and refined. The service is ok but more basic and a bit harsh. It was recommended to us by a local taxi driver for seafood, and we can confirm that that was a good recommendation.

BE CAREFUL - I WAS ATTACKED BY THE WAITER BECAUSE I COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR FOOD Went for lunch/aperitifs with my girlfriend. Spoke French with them throughout. The restaurant was 80% empty. We ordered 9 oysters and drinks, tried two oysters, and were concerned about the freshness. When we raised our concerns in a polite manner (of course), I was shouted at, then physically assaulted, and forced to pay with the threat of more violence. Abuse was hurled at me while this was happening ('we don't like your kind', 'go back to your own country')!!! READ THE 1 STAR REVIEWS - these people are not lying. They all describe hostile staff. The restaurant responds to online comments with threats and abuse; they behave online as they do in person.

This restaurant is the purest tourist trap including bad service. We had tuna which was really not good, pre-prepared with lots of ropes. The tables are covered with linoleum. When serving the waiter spilled the juice of the plate on the clothes of my daughter (that why the linoleum), no apology he just continued running and sweating! When I payed I told the lady owner I was disappointed, then the other waiter invited me to a fistfight! Asterisk and Obeliks revisited. To be avoided at all price!
