Yelp
Sunday, nearly evening, on the outskirts of Quebec City. There is very little open near our hotel.
We had just gone dogsledding, and ice skating, and didn't feel like venturing up. We wanted something close, and Chez Victor was really the only option.
I looked at the pictures, and pretty much knew what we were in for: Ok food. Convenient, and nothing special, like an Applebees or Chilis. Not much more.
It was less.
The menu was fine. Various sandwiches with myriad condiments, an extensive drink menu, and some house dishes. They had a vegan cheese option, which I appreciated as I avoid dairy.
The wait staff was nice enough. I ordered a chicken sandwich with garlic/curry mayo. My girlfriend ordered a burger. These came with fries. Both of us just had water.
It arrived in a fairly timely fashion.
Mine was mostly bun and condiments. The chicken was in strips, prepackaged and ready for a sub par school lunch. My girlfriend's burger was similarly underwhelming. The fries were soggy, tasteless, and gross.
The waitress did not return to check on us until about thirty minutes later when through our meals. To be fair, she had a large party to which she had been attending, but a check in would have been nice.
My girlfriend ordered a cup of decaf. It was simply not potable. Like a cup of bitter acid. She would normally just deal, but it was really that bad. We asked that it be removed from the bill, which they kindly did.
To top it all off, she had a stomach ache within an hour, and mine started a few hours later.
Bottom line?
Avoid Chez Victor at all costs.
