We have been to Conviva every time we have visited Munich. It has never failed us.
The food on this trip was wonderful and provided us with simply mouthgasm moments.
The avocado mousse was delightfully creamy, hints of lemon and the smoothness of avocado. This came with a rocket salad and a light Waldorf like salad.
The duck liver pâté was textural (not grainy), with a beautiful blackcurrant jelly wrapping it. The watercress salad was peppery and gave the little bite to tingle the tastebuds.
The pumpkin, ginger and coconut soup with a pumpkin seed oil was delightful. The oil raising the flavour profile beautifully.
Whilst the Charolais was not available, the replacement veal steak was juicy, a light blush of pink when cut, and so soft and tender with a caramelised crust to just give that extra texture. The savoury donuts and the vegetables with a jus to wrap it into a delight of a mouthful.
The braised veal with vegetables cooked in stock with a horseradish sauce, provided a slight switch in that whilst the veal was flavoursome it was the vegetables that took the plate to the next level by providing the palate with excitement and joy.
The dessert was a gingerbread panna cotta with white wine braised pear and redcurrants. Oh my gawd! This, for me, was a mouthgasm. The gingerbread flavour was a hit on the tongue, the texture, whilst not smooth and creamy as per a traditional panna cotta, was both creamy and textural at the same time. The red currants and the pears gave that texture offset and sharpness that brought out the flavour even more.
Such a wonderful night, with wait staff who were attentive and relaxed.
The atmosphere at Conviva is always relaxed and, whilst sometimes a little noisy, you never feel that you are fighting the other dinner guests to be heard.
Overall, it had to be 5/5.
