We stayed here 5 nights and loved it. The well-appointed bungalows are right at the beach with great air conditioning which you need in the rainy season with the high humidity. There is a small sandy beach from which you can launch kayaks to paddle out in the lagoon for good snorkelling. For us, the highlight was the restaurant, truly gourmet. The chef, who is Jean-Jacque's wife, is amazing--she makes everything herself, including the ice cream and sorbets. We worked our way through all the fish dishes which were outstanding. The breakfasts are huge, and include homemade vanilla yogurt like you're never tasted before. One suggestion I passed on to J-J was the addition of comfortable chairs in the restaurant area where you can read or use the internet (no internet in the bungalows) and he told me he's already ordered them. ||The one caveat is that you really need a car here unless you are only staying for one or two nights and don't want to explore the island. The hotel is 23 kilometres from Uturoa and it costs about $60 Cdn just for a taxi. You can rent cars in Uturoa or from J-J whose will give you a reduced rate if you rent for a few days.
