How to Plan a Food-focused Train Trip Through Europe

"A contemporary spot that showcases hyperlocal produce—microgreens from urban farms top roasted beets paired with smoked ricotta and are complemented by biodynamic Swiss wines—resulting in composed, vegetable-forward dishes that reflect a close connection between urban agriculture and restaurant plates." - Hannah Howard

We received a “private” dinner at Restaurant Freilager as a gift for my birthday. It was absolutely fantastic. The wait staff is very attentive and the chef is simply great. He is passionate about giving all of his guests a memorable experience and he certainly succeeded with us! I highly recommend trying out this restaurant. If you are looking for a more relaxed experience, there is a casual restaurant attached as well. So good!!!

Casual dining served by my favorite chef. Simple dishes, prepared to perfection. The fresh white truffle made my day.

In a dinner for two in the Trattoria, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the very friendly service from the first moment. Our high expectations were exceeded - exquisite, creative dishes in generous portions, combined with an excellent wine recommendation. Coming back!

Really manipulative staff and dishonest restaurant. This place was a recommendation from a friend (chosen as she lived in the neighborhood and has small kids so wanted a place that was easy to get) but was a total disaster. Felt completely ripped off. We were a group of 16 celebrating our visiting guests. We were offered water and subsequently hounded at the table to keep our glasses filled. The water kept coming without asking and when we said we did not want any more (well after the meal when we were still chatting) they simply said sorry they had opened it. At 10 franks a bottle we ended up with 16 bottles apparently being served. I am so disappointed by the lack of honesty and expected better of a Swiss neighborhood restaurant.

Yelp
Food - I had a Dorade - was delicious - service was efficient and very discreet - we had a business lunch. The ambiance on the terrasse is nice - it was a sunny spring day. Prices are typically high for Zurich although the restaurant is far from the center.
