Restaurant Goldie hotel Nautilus

It’s clear that the restaurant’s best days are behind it. We didn’t have the tasting menu, just a regular soup and main course from the daily offer. The soup was supposed to be kulajda — it somewhat resembled it. The main course was worse. The steak was cold, served on a cold plate with pickled broccoli. Unfortunately, neither the meat nor the broccoli was very edible.

We have been travelling through Europe for the past three weeks and this place has been by far the best place we have eaten in! The food and service were both exceptional! The chef is a true craftsman. This restaurant is one to go out of your way for.

I visited this restaurant a couple of times, which is part of the Hotel Nautilus. Some great options in their menu. I tried frog legs and different types of steaks. Venison & Rosehip was my favourite.

We enjoyed the six course tasting menu with wine pairings. A very thoughtful and creative menu, several very nice surprises in the wine pairings. Service was a little slow in the beginning, with a lengthy delay before receiving water and first plate. Pace after the beginning was fine. Six courses is a lot of food, bring an appetite or go with the four course tasting menu.

Despite a large noisy party of Americans taking over most of the restaurant we had exemplary service and delicious food in a quiet atmosphere. Thank you - a great birthday treat!

If you want to spend some time in heaven go to Restaurant Goldie / Hotel Nautilus in Tabor. I've eaten here a year ago and was impressed by Martin's menu and dishes. 2017 was again amazing. I could describe the food but it will not fit in the allowed maximum characters. See the photos, it tastes even better than it looks. And it looks stunning. Than there is the staff, I don't know where they find those but they are perfect and compliment your whole experience by making you feel welcome. English language is no problem for the staff. This place is just a little bit of heaven in a lovely environment. A MUST visit if you are in the region.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in the Czech Republic. If you are in the area visiting is an absolute must.

This restaurant is incredible; a true gem right on the square. The food is full of unique tastes and creativity yet still holds onto the traditional Czech flavors and cuisine. The freshly baked, golden, and incredibly fluffy mazanec reminded me of home and the salted tvaroh and butter were a delicious addition. I had the chicken and although it was a little on the heavier side, it was cooked perfectly. The croquette was perfectly crunchy on the outside with a warm and soft center, practically melting in your mouth. Sadly, I didn't make it to dessert because there was no more room but I can only imagine how good they are.

It's rare that I take stars off for service because our waiter could be having a bad day, so I'm charitable. But multiple servers were so cold and thoughtless that I have to take off stars this time. They lost out on a nice tip and revenue for the restaurant. They didn't ask us for our beverage order. We sat nearly two hours without even something like an offer of water. Only one of our party of nine ordered an appetizer but they made everyone wait for their entrees until that individual was done. They didn't check on us or clear plates for a long time after we were finished. If we had enjoyed our meal with pleasant service, the restaurant would've gotten revenue from a wine order and dessert. My advice with the food is don't be adventurous. I made a big mistake with the awful steak tartare that comes pre-mixed with garlic cloves on the side. Really? I'm going to mince my own garlic at the table to add to my tartare? It can't come minced to the table? In any case, I couldn't get past two forkfuls. The chanterelle mushroom soup was good and I heard the chicken and (very boney) local trout was good as well as the fried chicken. But none of those was outstanding. If I had to eat here again, I'd get the classic recipes like the grandmother's dish. As far as kids, they did make a plain penne for a toddler and they had a kids menu with 3-4 little dishes. It was hilarious when one of the kids asked for no dill on his pasta and the waiter nearly refused saying it tasted better with dill. Hello?! Free wifi and nice view of the main square. It's the most expensive restaurant in town.

My first evening in Tábor I was walking around and happened upon Goldie. They have a lovely patio on the main square with beautiful views of the architecture. I had the duck with purple cabbage and a dumpling and it was scrumptious. Plenty of food for one. I had a small bottle of sparkling water and a glass of wine for a total of $485 koruna--not bad at all. Service was lovely and the waiter spoke enough English for me to feel comfortable. Would definitely return.

Our tour bus stopped here on the way to Prague. This was an outstanding place to have lunch. We ordered the chicken main entree and it was outstanding. Others have complained about the service but ours was very punctual, even at lunch. Highly recommended and very, very affordable.

Had a great lunch here. The duck was great and my wife had excellent soup. The dumplings on my dish were epic and unlike other dumplings I have had. The bread they serve is also fantastic. Only complaint was the duck was over cooked. I eat a lot of wild game and duck should be cooked like a steak. The center should be red and warm, maybe this scares some people but that is the correct way to prepare duck. It was nice and tender but was well done, so one star off for that.

As I live part time in Tabor I have gone on several occasions to Goldie's. It is for sure an upscale ambience and depending on what you order, the food can be good. The duck was yummy. But yes the service was lacking and one of the nights we went their credit card machine wasn't working. It was quite embarrassing for me to have to scrounge from everyone at the table to pay the bill rather than treat using my credit card as planned. The bathrooms are clean. The bar attractive. Yes it is expensive. In the final analysis I say not worth the price.
