Monkey See, Monkey Eat

Google
I was looking for an authentic Czech place for my last day in Prague. Got the fried pork neck cutlet for my main course and mini buns with vanilla sauce for dessert. Both were excellent. The Irish coffee was good and strong. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. They even accommodated my request to substitute fries for the potato salad that usually comes with the pork cutlet. I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a decent place to eat if in the area. Might try to squeeze in another visit to try their goulash with bread dumplings for dinner. 🤭

Food and beer was good here. Would recommend the tartare. Place was packed on a Wednesday night. Even though waitress was seemed eager to send you to away, tables turned pretty fast so wait wasn't long. Bartender had better service.

Delicious czech cuisine. You can have daily menus with better price between 11-15. I had hovezi vyvar and false svickova.

Foods are really good. I tried the beef soup and grilled sausages. They both are better than what I had elsewhere. Sausages really fresh and not salty! Beer is excellent (even I did the non alcohol version!) The service is not that good. You have to try really hard to get attention. The waiter only smiled after I paid a tip. Very slow service too.

Kind Service, Great Czech Food, super fast, typical Czech Ambient. Thanks for having US as your guests! We really enjoyed it!

Google
many people on reddit had recommended this restaurant, and I agree with them. Definitely a more local restaurant, although there were some tourists there. We all tried different foods and highly recommend. Took the tram from Old Town. Very easy to get to.

Google
The food was okay. The schnitzel wasn’t good. There was noise. The beer is definitely good. The dark beer is the best. 🍻

Pilsner from tank here is surely amazing, the best beer I had in life

Yelp
Very good food and very friendly service! We had pickled Camembert cheese and pork knuckle. Not sure if they are still in the menu, but both were so good.

Yelp
We stayed at an airport hotel for one night in Prague to be close to the airport for our early morning flight. Not wanting to travel all the way back to the city for dinner, we took public transit from the airport to this area to have dinner. It was really easy until we got out of the metro station on the wrong side of the traffic circle. Once inside, we were seated between the outside seating area and the bar which was a good location to watch people coming in and out. We ordered from one of the waiters, the friendlier one, and enjoyed the free wifi and people watching until our food came. We ordered the full rack of ribs, the pork schnitzel and a few sides to share between three people. I liked the mashed potatoes with green onion and the green beans with bacon. The ribs weren't as great as others I've had. I thought the sauce was too salty. It did come with a great blue cheese sauce though that went nicely with my mashed potatoes. The best part of the night was the dessert. Hot raspberries on vanilla ice cream is my new favorite :)

Yelp
For the area and the prices, this place is awesome. Right near the University too. Good sized portions and a good selection. Had lunch here twice and here's the verdict: Lemonade or limonade with ginger--- not even sure if this on the menu or not. I asked for it anyways and they brought it out. Soooo good. Refreshing!! So good that the lady next to me who was Czech pointed to it and ordered it too!! Why drink water when lemonade is there?! Salmon and gnocchi - good cream sauce and the good bit of salmon. The gnocchi was be ur good. Good texture and consistency. The portions is a good size too. Seasoned perfectly. The goose cream soup- pretty good and filling. Lots of different but of goose in the soup. Reminded me of ham and lea soup in the US. The pork neck was seasoned a little on the sweet side. Not my favorite. But it came with potatoes au gratin that was really good. Crispy and good flavor. Good lunch stop and pretty quick!

Yelp
My favorite place to eat when I come to Prague. Parking isn't too bad and its right on top of the metro.

Yelp
Good czech food. I had"Goose liver pate with blackberry reduction", it tastes very good. Environment is good too, quite and chill.

Yelp
Nice environment and decent service. The servers smiled upon entry which seems to be a rarity in Prague. Ordered the Unfiltered special draft which was awesome. The beef ghoulash with dumpling was delicious but a bit on the cold side. Sauce was amazing and paired well with the draft beer. Very filling. Highly recommend this place for the food, beers and decent service!

Yelp
This place is literally a 45 second walk from the Intercont'l Hotel. After all of the walking you will doing all day, every day, this is a real treat. I ate here a few times. Once I even had a burger and fries (I got burned out on Czech food). The burger was actually great. My favorite was the pork knuckle and the duck is also very good. Just grab a seat and someone will get to you. It is a real Czech restaurant, with loud tourists and locals alike. The menu is translated in English, which is convenient but does take away from the thrill of guessing foods. There are even some pictures on the laminated card (THAT was cheesy). The service was good, but my first visit the waitress did not seem to understand English well (which is very unusual here). Portions are HUGE. They are so large everything I ordered filled me up 1/4 into the meal. Prices are amazing. A meal with a pilsner will set you back 12-15UDS. They do take ccs, euros and krona.

Yelp
OK, so this is a tough review to write... I have to be honest and say I don't really remember all that much about the food, having taken full advantage of the fact that I was sitting in the restaurant of one of the best breweries in Europe! But that said, I do remember one peculiar thing, and that was the attitude of the wait staff. Normally, and no slam on Europe in general, people that work in pubs and similar establishments don't seem to do a lot of smiling. I don't know why. You often get the feeling that they are only working there because they have to or it was the only job they could find. Not here though. Everyone was friendly, prompt, courteous and chaty. As we closed down he place, the manager helped walk us back to our hotel (DAP). Now that is service!!!! Top notch visit!

Yelp
Went here for dinner and I must say what a surprise. The staff was very friendly, not always speaking a lot of english but joking with us nonetheless. We were feeling hungry and adventerous so we ordered a czech meat meal with dumplings, pumpkin soup, mushroom gnocchi and steak fries. Pumpkin soup was the best I have ever had in my life. I also have to say these steak fries were so good, they were like US quality and taste, not sure where they got them, but delicious. Mushroom gnocchi could be passed on - not the best combination for sauce and pasta, but if you love italian food like I do then just stay away from it. The czech food was typical, okay meat, sauce and dumplings but I wouldn't come back for that. The ambiance here is nice, simple, hardwood floors, black and white colors everywhere. Tables are spaced just far enough apart to feel like you are not on top of the next table. Although super easy to start an international conversation here as there are many random expats or czechs wandering in at any given time. Only real downfall here is smoking is allowed inside. Should be illegal but sadly not here. If you come at a good time it will be almost empty and this won't affect your meal. However come for a late dinner and everyone including your neighbor will be lighting up. Something to consider.

Yelp
Gotta go for a strong 4! They found a table for us on a packed night, everyone loved the food, great service and reasonable prices. We had a group of 5 and everyone felt their food was a 4 or a 4.5 star. We had eveything from steak, to the pork knuckle to the pork shanks to the goulash. I really enjoyed my pork shank. Lots of bone to make up the 400g, but the meat I did have was wonderfully tender and tasty. I stole some of the horseradish from the pork knuckle platter and that added a nice kick. The server did a great job looking after us. He kept the beers coming and was always there when we needed him. Don't be disappointed and be sure to make a reservation. If you use their online form make sure you get a follow-up email. I didn't get one so when we got there I was not in the system. I knew better but didn't follow up with a phone call.

Yelp
We had our wedding lunch there with company of 16 people and the waiters were very polite, professional and friendly, the food and beers were amazing, and prices very reasonable, I recommend this place for lunch or beer

Yelp
Very good brasserie. I really enjoyed my beer and the goulash. Very good price (less than 10€) I would just prefer that only one waiter will take care of me and not 4. I will recommend this place.

Yelp
Very rude to foreigners, purposely took over an hour for the food to come. Rude waiters, subpar food, and a below average experience.

Yelp
Four stars for the service and food. Minus one star because the lights were way way way too bright! First, there are smoking and non-smoking sections of this restaurant. The smoking section is in the front, so you have to make your way through that section to get to the non-smoking section but, I have to say, it wasn't too smokey when we blazed through at about 5pm after an all-day walking tour of Prague. Second, menus are in English and Czech, so no problems there if you don't speak or can't read Czech. Also, the servers speak English. Awesome. Third, this place is super easy to get to via the green line, last stop, Dejvicka. Then walk halfway around the roundabout (toward and then past the KFC) and look for the yellow cow out front. Couldn't be easier to find. I ordered the goulash and it was a giant portion served with five thick bread dumplings. I couldn't finish it all even though I had not eaten all day and was starving by the time we arrived. Beer was cold but I also could not finish my beer because I was so full from the goulash!

Yelp
It's been over a year since I've been in Prague and I miss it terribly. I studied abroad at Czech Technical University for a semester and this was always our go-to place for dinner. It is by far the best food in the area, if not one of the best restaurants in Prague. The service was always fast and the servers were very friendly. I can't remember exactly everything that we tried there but we probably had the entire menu by the time I left Prague. The one dish I will always remember is a pasta dish that had duck in it. I think the menu switches from time to time because I had this dish once and went back to have it again a few weeks later and it was no longer offered. Made me so sad! Bottom line. This isn't a touristy part of Prague but if you're in the area, you absolutely have to try this place.

Yelp
Three stars because it was just ok. The rabbit was a over cooked. The tagliatelle was good, but very rich. Staff were friendly, but not very attentive. Nothing spectacular about the food. Just ok.

Yelp
This restaurant is not made for a traveler. Walked in on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:00pm and was told that the reservations for 5:30pm makes us not able to eat there. The staff was very less than friendly with us and gave us no other suggestions for restaurant options. On a vacation to Prague? Don't eat here.

Yelp
Great food and usually excellent service! Friendly to non-czech speakers. The wings are excellent and plentiful

Vickie W.

Yelp
We have been there twice, everything we ordered are very tasty, and the portion is very big. It is good local food and the price is not very expensive. We like goulash the best.
