If you're staying at Byaku Narai absolutely choose the 'with meal' option to have your dinners & breakfast here. If you're just passing through, make a point to have lunch here because no doubt this will be the best meal you're going to have in Nakasendo. The ambience, attention to detail, the service, will blow you away. I appreciated they had a non-alcoholic pairing with either juice of teas (I preferred the teas) and it was so great to see an extensive list of Japanese & regional wines. Pro-tip: if you're exhausted after a long day of hiking and not keen for a long dinner, feel free to gently let them know you wish to have a quicker dinner
