This is a lovely little place hidden on a cute quiet street. It is worth finding. The tapas is really quirky and tasty. We had tomato bread, tomato with Spanish cheese, razor clams and jamon with tempura, couldn’t fault anything on the menu. However service was slow and the staff kept forgetting our orders but maybe it was due to the really really hot day. Worth putting up with the service though

The place is far from busy streets, so essentially you have to specifically go there. This makes the place chilled and not overcrowded. The food is great, a bit too fancy though, making it overall a bit pricey. At least the portions are good.

We have a history with this restaurant that goes back to 2014. In those days it was a small, local place about a block over from the current location. There were two extraordinary chefs and an amazing server (owner?), Elena, who charmed us with her willingness to translate the Catalan menu. The meal blew us away, and we decided to do whatever it would take to return to Barcelona. We went back to this place two other times (I think the name changed to “La Panxolina”) and were delighted with each experience. In 2018 our trip to the new Panxa del Bisbe was less inspiring. We were so happy we had made the effort again in 2023. Yes, it was more expensive than some other places we tried, and the crowd was a bit upscale for us, but our food was delicious and innovative. We relished every dish, especially the surprisingly delicious pear with celery ice cream. Great option near Güell Park if you are ready for a splurge.

We came here for lunch and ordered a variety of plates to try out. The food is all a bit fancy and pretty. My family enjoyed some dishes more than others. They liked the oxtail cannelloni and grilled octopus, the latter of which was very tender. For myself, I got the vegetable “mille-feuille” (not layered with pastry but thin slices of cheese) which was very tasty. The service was decent. Prices a bit higher than some other restaurants.

I spent a year in Barcelona and discovered many great places to eat but La Panxa del Bisbe is undoubtedly my favourite! The menu is innovative with exciting pairings of flavours. For the quality of food, presentation and service, the price is quite reasonable. They also have an excellent wine selection, a particularly good place to try some of locally produced wine. The cherry on the cake was 2 free shots (one anise based and the other I couldn't really tell) as compliments of the house. If you are in Barcelona, treat yourself to a meal here - you will not regret it! (Fairly near Park Guell so you can couple the meal with a visit to the park. Note: they are only open Tuesday to Saturday and have limited dining hours.

I came to this place because of Yelp and it did not disappoint! We didnt have reservations, we came in the afternoon, I imagine at night it's even busier and they were pretty busy, full at one point!. I tried to make reservations online but they dont have that feature you have to call...I couldn't. Okay the food, there was nothing nothing bad on the menu! I kept on waiting for something to taste not good but that wasnt the case. Some may view it as pricey others might think it's ok. So we had tomato bread, it is delicious, this is a must try. We had the tartare de tomate with small toast, it had tomatoes, avocado, cucumber and other great things, yes great as well. We had the mussels with fries in a delicious sauce. We had the garbanzo- Gaxpasto soup which was good, cold soup. Cannoli, there was some pasta with oxtail, so tender and delicious! We had croquettes, they had chicken filling inside and they come 2 per serving. I had a beer with like lemon juice, it was good. Then came the brownie with ice cream and white chocolate! Do yourself a favor when in Barcelona, go try it, you wont regret it! It was like 64 euros for all and a soda. We walked so I'm not sure about parking situation. Enjoy the pics!

Google
Superb food. 33 euro tasting menu was amazing. We discovered the taste we had never tasted before. Friendly service with a smile every time. Most of the customers seem like locals.

We found this restaurant after going to another place that we found closed upon arriving. The chef of the closed restaurant came out and recommended us to head to La Panxa del Bisbe instead. Everything was super delicious and the service was fantastic. The patio in the back is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful meal. Would highly recommend the gnocchi with chanterelles.

Phil P.

Yelp
Yum, yum! Such tasty and creative dishes. The oysters were sublime and the Salmon Snomomo (?) was scrumptious. Wonderful croquettes

Alicia C.

Yelp
GO HERE NOW. And LATER! Yes, that's what happened to us. We went once, so damn good, we made it twice. The place is a local gem, that takes tapas and puts an imaginative and tasty spin on all the dishes. The chicken croquettes were some of the best tasting I've ever had. They were like the most chicken pot pie in a bite. Loved! The paella was slamming. The grilled squid was tenderAF. So many fantastic dishes! You need to go, let the locals guide you through the menu as you sip back a fabulous bottle of rioja. A perfect night is in store!

Barbara V.

Yelp
The restaurant we wanted to go to was closed for dinner. We went to Yelp and found this hidden gem! Delicious. Creative. Affordable and fun. You will love it! We did!

Gregory B.

Yelp
La Panxa is off the beaten track, so much so that we almost walked right by it. But once we entered we were greeted by a very nice host who seated us very quickly. We ordered some bread with tomatoes and water. The Bonito and the Shrimp Tempura were both unique in flavor. Also the Bread with truffles, chocolate and salt was one of our favorites. So glad we tried it!

Eric F.

Yelp
Excellent service. Waiter paired an excellent wine. The The highlight of day 1: La Panxa del Bisbe's grilled leeks in a cream sauce and reduction, topped with jamon and dressed with bean sprouts

Matt R.

Yelp
After an afternoon of getting punished by the sun at Park Guell, we found this exquisite Catalan place. It opens at 1:30 and I'd recommend being there right at open because it's very popular. We got the Croquettes and the Tomato Salad as well as the Grilled Zucchini. The food was lovely and they were even patient with our Spanish. Give them a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Emi B.

Yelp
Whoa, not the typical tapas you have anywhere else, I guess it's a little on the innovative side. Was a but skeptical about it but what we had was truly delicious. We were lucky to get seated without reservation, 30 min later the restaurant was full at 11pm. Pig Trotter & Eel - the Trotter was crispy and soft in a not "too fatty" texture. Eel just tasted so fresh. Squid Ink Paella, perfect size, not like tourist area asking you to order two (stupid) simple but flavorful. We had Cava and red by the glass recommended by the waitress and loved both! So lucky my random found found this hidden treasure away from the centre.

Nanyi L.

Yelp
Wonderful foods and service. Great stop to take a snack when you visit Parc Güell. Outdoor seating is relaxing.

Rachael O.

Yelp
Amazing experience after a long day at at the park. We stumbled across the restaurant, with the help of Yelp and were not disappointed.

Sahar S.

Yelp
What a lovely place. This was a great exposure to Catalan food, and the service was also friendly and helpful.

Cameron M.

Yelp
Truly incredible. We were lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar for lunch as the place was fully reserved for the day. Service was so friendly and happy to assist us with picking the perfect items. It's easy to taste that the chefs really care about the flavors of their food. Each and every dish was fantastic. If I had to pick a few to recommend they would be the fish carpaccio with fresh guac, the oxtail cannelloni, and the scallops. The carpaccio was bursting with freshness, the cannelloni was a bold flavor experience, and the scallops were cooked to perfection. Really, every item we ordered was a foodie's dream. We are so happy to have stumbled upon this place and highly recommend for an amazing tapas experience in Barcelona.

Natalie R.

Yelp
An absolute must when you are in Barcelona! Food is absolutely amazing and every single bite is delicious! This is a perfect restaurant to visit after your visit to Park Guell as it is only about a 10 minute walk from park. We arrived at 1:20 just before they opened for lunch and we were lucky to get a table without a reservation. However, I recommend calling and making a reservation as it is a very popular spot among tourists and locals and it fills up quickly. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious: ceviche, scallop shashimi, gazpacho, oxtail, and lemon sorbet. Service was also very friendly and great. "La Panxa del Bisbe" translates to "the Bishops stomach" which is in reference to a mountain named Bisbe that appears like a stomach (per the owner/chef)

Yelp
A special place for my 200th review!!! This cute and excellent restaurant was walking distance from our AirBnb in Gracia, and was found via recommendation from our Gracia tour guide from our eating tour earlier. We went here for dinner at the beginning of our week in Barcelona, and it was so good, and service so excellent, and prices so reasonable, we returned for our last dinner in the city before leaving. Each and every course, and every wine pairing, was excellent. There is also a bottle shop with reasonable bottles of a wine that you may have had with dinner and may want to take home. Every item was expertly prepared and perfectly seasoned. The standout for the first meal was a perfectly charred octopus tentacle. I usually shy away from tentacles because they tend to be rubbery, but this was so tender and beautifully charred that I wished there was more! We also had a dish that was gnocchi, morels (never had before), and a perfectly poached egg. Heavenly!! The braised lamb that followed was also done to perfection, along with carefully executed accompaniments. For dessert, we had little bites of melted chocolate rolled in toast and topped with very funky and interesting olive oil beads! They popped in your mouth and were quite a taste and texture sensation along with the chocolate. Innovative! For our second meal there, we ordered off the menu instead of getting the tasting menu. We ordered with abandon, knowing everything would be spectacular and also affordable. We began with the shrimp special, incredibly fresh but something I'm not good at disassembling. We moved on to a deliciously done vegetable side, mixed veggies that somehow were each perfectly cooked and prepared and seasoned. Oddly, a pretty magnificent feat for most restaurants! We then had grouper with calcots and romesco sauce, like a gourmet version of the seasonal calcots so traditional to Catalonia. Lastly, we had a bunch of the desserts listed for the day, along with perfectly done espresso to finish a lovely meal and then waddle back to our place. It was truly a memorable feast!

Yelp
Delicious last dinner in Barcelona. Would definitely go back next time I'm in Spain. Every dish not only looked beautiful, but was amazingly tasty as well. And though it seemed the portions might lean towards the small side, the food was so rich and tasty my family left satisfied and full (also we ordered maybe one too many dishes, but there was such a great selection we wanted to try as much as we could). The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food came out one by one, well paced--enough to enjoy the present plate without wondering when the next dish would come out. There is a prefix menu, but we opted to choose our own dishes. I highly recommend eating here, especially if you are in visiting Park Guell the same day. I came right when the restaurant opened and got a table right away without a reservation, but if you come later in the evening I suggest making a reservation. Very inviting interior, definitely a place to leisurely enjoy a meal. Would have gotten dessert as well, but sadly we were a bit pressed for time.

Victoria R.

Yelp
La Panxa del Bisbe is hidden away on a side street, but I strongly suggest that you seek it out, as it's a total gem of a restaurant! The food is primarily Catalonian tapas. Everything is made with the best quality ingredients, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the regional wine they serve is every bit as good as their food :-) Service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. When we dined here, the restaurant was extremely busy, but the staff didn't hurry us in any way. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Pierre B.

Yelp
Very tasty and fresh element served in an original manner. The kitchen is open to the restaurant so no lies and no microwaves, just proper cooking the way it should be. Wine selection could be better Count €30 per person

Kilsis J.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying Thank You Yelp and Yelpers!!! I came to this place because of Yelpers and it did not disappoint! We didnt have reservations, we came in the afternoon, I imagine at night it's even busier and they were pretty busy, full at one point!. I tried to make reservations online but they dont have that feature you have to call...I couldn't. Okay the food, there was nothing nothing bad on the menu! Yelp
This place is a fabulous spot for uniquely crafted tapas dishes at a reasonable price. We came 1 hour before it opened (12:30pm) to reserve a spot for 6 and they were able to accommodate us for 1:30pm. I suggest making a reservation as this place fills up fast. Recommended dishes: - Gnocchi with mushrooms, romanesco broccoli and duck fois: The sauce in this dish wasn't too heavy for a gnocchi dish. I especially loved the mushrooms. - Foie terrine on toasted bread, sweet almond cream, pear and green apple: The foie gras was incredibly creamy, and I really enjoyed it in a sweet dish. - Picana with eggplant, hollandaise sauce and chimichurry: Quite a fatty cut of beef, cooked medium rare and tender to perfection. - Squid with romesco sauce and vegetables: While I didn't try this personally, everyone else thought this was fabulous. - Bread with tomato: is this even a question? La Panxa is also located in the quaint neighbourhood of Gracia not far from Park Guell. Make sure to take a stroll around for potential souvenirs or window shopping as there are many tiny shops adorning the streets.

Marc D.

Yelp
Really good lunch place slightly of the beaten path but perfect for after a visit to parc guell and the gaudi museum. Get a glass of wine with the food and don't forget the desert

Zishu W.

Yelp
I really don't know why there is 5 stars here. I do not recommend this restaurant because of its bad attitude to tourists. We made the reservation first for a special table for 3 people, but when we arrived there, they asked us to change the table after we already sat down to a two people table. We argued at first but they don't care their customer. Finally we decided to leave and they make laugh and very happy to see us leaving. It's really a terrible experience in Barcenola, Spain. I DO NOT recommend any tourist to have dinner at this place.

Kirsten L.

Yelp
We showed up right when they opened at 1:30pm and got a table for two without reservations. We ordered the tomato bread, the tomato tartare, the cheese and eggplant, the croquets, and the oxtail cannelloni. All were good, but the tomato dish and the cannelloni were outstanding. We also enjoyed our desserts - the brownie and the tiramisu, but especially the brownie - yum! Great service and artsy-elegant atmosphere. Just 2 options for vegetarians, but they were tasty.

Jaycen R.

Yelp
I have no words...okay, few words. This place is simply amazing. We're still sitting at the table, and I am struggling to figure out how to describe what we just experienced. I desire to experience it again! We ordered 4 tapas and a bottle of their cheapest red wine. The wine was really good; you can't really go wrong with wine in this region. The tapas were an oxtail cannelloni, octopus with watermelon, mushroom carpaccio, and fried sea anemone. Every plate got better and better. We are just awed by the flavor, freshness and expert creativity shown through their food. The octopus is probably in the top few things I've eaten in my entire life. No exaggeration. If you come to Barcelona, make lunch or dinner here an absolute priority. They're open for lunch 1:30-3:30pm or dinner 8:30-11:30pm (midnight on weekends).

Alan S.

Yelp
Visited La Panxa del Bisbe after a long Gaudi walking tour that ended at Park Guell. Was relatively close to the park and had good reviews so we figured we would give it a try. Glad we did. The hostess/waitress was very nice and helpful and the food was very good. They had a very good craft beer. Would definitely recommend.

Diana T.

Yelp
The octopus, creamy potato, and watermelon dish is a must if you like seafood. The watermelon is grilled because it's bursting with flavour. (10.80€) Oxtail cannelloni is packed with flavor, very rich. I definitely recommend to share this one. Chicken croquettes is very good. (5.90€) This place is really busy with reservations, so if you want a table..book a reso. Otherwise, I the bar is first come first serve. (Get there at 8:30-8:45pm sharp if you don't have reso!)

Brenda L.

Yelp
This restaurant is great!! Great location, atmosphere, and food! We shared a bunch of tapas and all were great ... gnocchi, blue fish ceviche, scallops, and oxtail cannelloni. Pannacotta was delicious! Service was slow but friendly for the most part. We arrived at 2115 and was told it was a 30 min wait though there were 3 tables open. After 15 minutes we were seated at one of the same empty tables. Overall, the best meal we've had in Barcelona.

Stacie W.

Yelp
Yummy yummy food in Barcelona. A special find located just a short walk from Park Guell. Menus in English. Very reasonably priced delicious tapas. You must order the Pork Ribs and Oxtail.

Husni Z.

Yelp
An absolute mouth pleasure tapas menu. You can basically close your eyes and randomly choose any tapas and you won't be disappointed. Oh, and please treat yourself with any of the dessert, surprisingly delightful.

Leon S.

Yelp
I was a bit worried that the place might be full of tourists and I go to great lengths to sniff out off-the-beaten-path neighborhood gems. But we were AirBnB'ing it a few blocks away, so my wife and I gave it a shot. WOW! I am pretty sure that we were the only tourists there on a Wednesday night. We reserved a table for 10 in the evening and the place was hopping when we arrived. So here's the breakdown: Quality Catalan cuisine. We had the pica pica fixed price for two menu. We both loved every bite. Wine tip: Order the Tocat, it is a local favorite (the server seemed impressed that an obvious non-local would know to order it, but I cheated by spotting the bottle at some other table with locals that seemed like they would know a good wine) The atmosphere! Bustling, locals having a good time feel. Also the artwork and overall vibe is of a place that really cares about what they are doing with personality. We will absolutely return on our next visit to BCN.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Do yourself a favor when you come to Barcelona and visit this place, especially if you're close to Parc Güell! We walked through some clean but rather deserted streets to get there, but once you're inside it's BUSTLING. We ordered a total of seven different tapas from their menu, some bread, and dessert. Service was great and our food came relatively quickly. The food was so amazing I was weeping with joy at every bite. My favorites were the croquettes, the quesadillas with zucchini flower, the duck, and that oh-so-yummy mousse with lemon ice cream for dessert. Cannot recommend enough!

Megan M.

Yelp
This place was a little off our beaten path. However, being our first time to Barcelona, we aren't fully oriented. Our entire meal was amazing. We were the only non-locals when we went for lunch after going to Parc Guell. Highly recommend it. They were so so nice and the food was such great quality. Would recommend to anyone.

Steven S.

Yelp
Great and unique tapas; plus they make their own pale ale. Short walk after exploring Parc Güell.

Bianca M.

Yelp
One of, if not the best restaurants I visited in Spain. The tapas are delicious and original. The octopus with watermelon...wow! The croquettes were perfect. This is an inventive team of chefs that whips up tapas you won't forget! It's close to Park Güell, so it's a perfect pre or post trip bite.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Of the 4 meals I had in Barcelona this was the best. Food ranged from good to spectacular. Service was good. Wine was excellent and cheap. They open 8:30 for dinner. Strong recommend. 3 people about $140 including drinks, desert and tip. I've had better but only at twice the price.

Rochelle R.

Yelp
The best food we had in all of Spain. Splurge here and get the €36 meal, you won't regret it! Everything was so excellent and so different from the previous dish. My favorites were the ox tail canneloni, the Passion fruit dessert, and the salad with green apple ice cream. It was an experience, not just a meal. I wish we had found it sooner. It is suggested to make a reservation, but we were able to sit at the bar with just 2 people.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Tapas here were really tasty, but the wait was very long. We ordered the combo for 2 but shared it amongst 3 people and it was absolutely delicious. Normally not a lamb fan but it was cooked to tender perfection with a sauce and couscous. Paella was tasty, and loved the light, crispy croquettes.

C W.

Yelp
You know when the two of you are eating and not saying a word, but looking at each other with giant eyes and the sounds of "yummmmm" emerging from your mouths? Yes, it's that place. I offered to tongue kiss the chef, sadly he declined. Standing Ovation. Get the sampling menu , worth every penny.

Steven W.

Yelp
The food and people were amazing! Asparagus creme was very special and unique. Service was very good

Sean B.

Yelp
My best food experience in Barcelona! Authentic Catalonian, expertly prepared in an unpretentious environment.

Anna L.

Yelp
This place has one of the best tapas I have ever had! We ordered pretty much everything on the menu. The staff were shocked. Razor clam paella was tasty , but didn't eat to much of rice. Beef stew in pasta was amazing. Foie gras on a toast was mouth watering. Squab was one of the best I have had, perfectly cooked! Gazpacho with octopus I believe it was , was very tasty. Chicken croquettes were crispy on the outside soft and delicious on the inside. Scallops were a little salty for my taste, but ate them anyways. Oysters were perfected with the foamy lemon something rather. Ceviche was the best I have ever had!! We ordered a few deserts as well. their passion fruit something had a crunch on the bottom layer, passion fruit goodness layer, after that there was some kind of either cream or something whipped with a green crunch like ice or something. Omg!! This restaurant is amazing! We walked almost 4 kilometers just to eat here. I would go back any day!!

Randi T.

Yelp
Discovered this place on our way down from Park Güell. You Must Eat Here. We had the fixed price menu of tapas. Everything was outstanding from scallops, mushrooms, salad with figs and goat cheese to 2 desserts. One of my top 5 meals of all times (I'm a foodie). This will not disappoint plus the staff was friendly and fun.

Brian H.

Yelp
Oh my are you in for a tapas treat. A gem of a stop with a mix of locals and tourists. Affordable, high end cuisine Can be a bit crowded even on Tuesday for lunch, reservations recommended.

John B.

Yelp
Had a late (regular time for Barcelona) lunch here after visiting Parc Guell. The restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the park. It's a little hard to find, and I was glad I had looked it up and marked it on our map rather than just wandering around that otherwise sterile neighborhood looking for something good. Largely local crowd on a Thursday afternoon in April, and everyone seemed to know what an amazing meal they were going to have. Mellow vibe. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Bonus: A small, but interesting (and delicious) local beer selection. Recommended: Forget what they called it, but basically grilled sardines, french fries and poached egg placed on top. We had over 15 meals, across lunch and dinner, while in Barcelona. Just about every one of them was amazing - this was among the Top 3.

Irina B.

Yelp
Very enjoyable tapas dinner in Barcelona. We called around 7:30 pm on Wednesday and had no trouble reserving the table for 2. We arrived at 8:30 and were seated immediately. The waiter brought some olives and a bottle of tap water (a rarity in Spain, where they attempt to sell you bottled water at every restaurant). We ordered octopus salad, squid with romesco sauce and vegetables, duck foie, and gnocchi. All dishes were delicious though small. We considered ordering a 5th dish, but decided against it. Overall, the meal turned out slightly pricier than our average dinner in Spain, though tasted amazing.

G. M.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! We arrived for dinner around and the place was bustling with lively conversation and energy! Everything (and I mean everything) we tried had us rolling our eyes in bliss. I believe the menu changes but were over the moon for their seared scallop, cuttlefish with beans, and the giant prawns. Definitely worth a go if you're staying in or feel like checking out Gracia area in Barcelona.

Kanpai S.

Yelp
One of the best tapas restaurant in Barcelona. Look for a server 'sara'. She is awesome!!! She made my family's trip extra special. Spanish tapas with little American flair and they serve free water!!!!

Katelyn S.

Yelp
This restaurant did NOT meet our expectations at all. We were told we cannot order the tasting menus or any of the other menu items unless every single person (6 of us) shared them. We were not even allowed to order the tasting menu with 4 people sharing, even though the menu says 2 people. The waitress was very rude to us and rushed us consistently when deciding and ordering, as well as kicking us out of the table while we were finishing our coffee, even though there were two empty tables and no one waiting to be seated. While our food was good, I would not recommend this place due to the poor service and difficulty in ordering.

Sam P.

Yelp
After a long morning at Gaudi Parc, we were tired and hungry for lunch. We came in and were worried when we looked at the menu, but when the tapas plates started coming out, each one was better then the one before. Our favorite were croquettes, scallops, tiradite and eggplant, fried anemones and the bread.

Aaron N.

Yelp
Super delicious food. The place was staffed with young, cool, beautiful women who were very helpful and steered my culinary decisions in the right direction. If you are at Park Guell then I would recommend eating here.

Ahmed H.

Yelp
Excellent food. Don't let the relaxed atmosphere and casual look fool you. A thoughtful gastronomic experience awaits you and it's one that you will remember! One of my favourite restaurants in Barcelona.
