First off, I want to say that the woman who served us and I spoke with about this issue was amazing and I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. She took the time to listen and didn’t just brush off our concerns. I’m sure if you bring this up with the staff she’ll immediately remember.
Second, the food itself was amazing, and if it hadn’t been for this issue I would be writing a 5.
Now, the issue. I myself use cast iron frequently, so it is very easy for me to recognize. Most of what I use is also enameled, so it’s also easy to recognize that. I know as well that part of using enameled cast iron is to stop using it immediately for food when it starts to chip as the enamel is a type of glass coating and once it starts to chip, the glass is able to transfer into the food. When I asked the woman who served us white the dish was specifically, she was not sure but said she would ask, which she did. When she informed me the answer she was told it was simply iron, which is impossibly because there wouldn’t be the type of coating there was on this dish if it was simply cast iron. It is more than slightly concerning that the restaurant is using dishes that could be putting pieces of glass into the customers food and is no longer food safe. It is also concerning that the person that was asked did not know the proper answer, because it’s impossible the dish could’ve simply been cast iron without a coating.
