"Restaurant Rosso offers a hip dining experience with set course menus. It is owned by the same people who run Bar Basso and Osso."

Very nice place for having lunch. The best item on the menu are the pizza. Very thin and crispy crust. The pizza's ingredients are very tasty too. The atmosphere is also quite special. It is simple, modest, old-fashioned. The main focus is on tasty, mouthwatering dishes. Staff is friendly. Staff's dress code is relaxed 😎.

Very nice restaurant near Hardbrucke station. Does not really look like a restaurant from the outside. In fact we had some trouble finding the entrance. But do not let that discourage you. The food is really nice and the staff is friendly. Do try the carpaccio as starter as it is very delicious and really something different. Pizza and tiramisu were also very good

Great spot for lunch and dinner - while off the city centre grid - the journey is rewarded by great stone oven pizza and a delicious selection of stables and unusual Italian inspired dishes. Dont expect a formal italian diner or pizzeria, this place combines industrial heritage, cosy quirkiness with tasty food and an amazing crew.

Great pizzas, friendly staff. The kitchen was closed on a Wednesday around 22:00 as many restaurants in the area, pizza cook still tossing dough, though. They seem to become patio nightclubs more than restaurants. A glass was placed at my table, after reading other reviews, it seems water is either self service where the carafes are on the wall, or they want you to order bottled. Afterwards, an older man arrived, and didn’t like the table they suggested, and he sat at the other end of mine. He ordered something in German. They brought him bread, subsequently a plate of something arrived (I guess it was cold requiring no preparation). While I ate my pizza he didn’t touch his food except for bread. Several veg pizza choices including one without cheese. Complete wine/beer/bar list. Several outdoor dining patios on various levels, the occasional train screeching by reminds you of the industrial origins of West Zürich. Inside I could imagine it very busy on weekends. Chill upbeat music, football table. Bathrooms are downstairs so not easily accessible. Funky graffiti and stickers give it a bit of an underground vibe. I would return earlier to try some of the other menu items.

Cool italian place right beside the station. Pizza was flavorful and the thin crust was great. Pistachio gelato was also very good 😋. It took too long to serve the gelato though, one of the waiters probably forgot but otherwise I had great service from them (I arrived before peak dinner time)

Google
The food and vibe here is very nice my only complaint is the service and how long it takes for the food to come out. The waitresses/waiters are very friendly but the food just takes ages to come out even if it’s not busy. I ordered fish and by the time it came out I wasn’t even hungry anymore. I think it took nearly an hour for everyone to get their dishes. My colleagues unfortunately did not like their food as much as I did. I personally would not come back here again.

Google
Very nice atmosphere, nice location and nice food. Food was ok. Pizza was not really the best I have very eat, the price is higher than in other place for the quantity. But it was good. The fire in the middle of the room was very nice.

The food was excellent! service should smile a bit more, but the more we ordered, the better the waiter was in a good mood :D a fabulous restaurant to enjoy a nice evening out

Yelp
ROSSO is an "different" Italian restaurant and food is great. Location looks like an old factory Menu is comprehensive and prices are OK ( for Zurich) Small issue is the noise as this restaurant is crowded.

Yelp
This is in a cool old industrial building with tons of windows and views of the rail yard. Don't let that dissuade you. It's cozy and romantic with cool jazz music and a disco ball lit with red lighting, again, don't let that dissuade you. Pizza looked good from the many ordering it. The ravioli pasta with spinach and pine nuts was enjoyed by my husband. Fresh and obviously hand-made pasta. I had lamb with grape tomato and purple potato. The lamb was med rare and the light use of fresh herbs was perfect. Service was very friendly (despite a little struggle with our common language, English). The only downside was a 30-minute wait for food to arrive. Order pizza if you are starving or needing to rush. Otherwise check this place out!!

Yelp
Nice folks. Can make reservations online which are necessary on weekends and busy times. Nice terrace for these warm nights. Industrial chic atmosphere with friendly servers. I really do like the pizza.

Yelp
July 2019 -- interesting place ... great service and great pizza. The location is industrial in nature and a bit difficult to find. It's at the rear of an old run down warehouse looking building. But the food is good. .... and most importantly. The beer is cold. Try it, you're like it.

Yelp
Cool ambiance. You can come here in suite, dress or casual jean. Many people get pizza here but I personally don't think pizza is the best as many said.. It's good but had better ones or similar ones. Service is good and fast. You find reasonably priced wine list (Zurich standard). Good for the group dinner. One of a few places you feel less nervous about the bill by dining here :)

Stephen S.

Yelp
Quite hard to find, but I was attending a group dinner, so I didn't give up. Good wine list. The food was pre-ordered by our host, but the burrata and the beef were great. Group seating on a long table. No A/C and it was extremely hot that evening! If it were me alone, I'd try elsewhere instead.

Yelp
Hidden pizzeria in Kreis 5 !! I found that place after living 3 years in Zurich (and being 600m from this place). It is a cool place. Really, the interior look like an old garage - workshop thing. The food is great and the staff is friendly. It is actually right next to the station Hardbrücke in the same building as Bogen 33 (second hand store). The food is really great. The pizza's are good, real italian pizza's. I know you can find better. But I am very pleased with place. But pay attention, it is not a cheap pizza place :) Yep, I will come back here !

Yelp
The restaurant gets very loud and to my taste too loud for eating. However, the pizza is very tasty (had gorgonzola and tasted diavola). In terms of drinks, I have only tried Aperol Spritz and it was fine- not spectacular. I would give it a try during the day possibly too, to try something else but a pizza. However from experience, this restaurant is extremely crowded for lunch (usually with bigger groups).

Yelp
Very cool place in an even cooler location, definitely a go-to spot for great pizzas or a special dinner.. You won't find the usual selection of the same pizzas on the menu here for once - thank god - but rather simplistic ones that feature mostly "gourmet" ingredients like buffalo mozzarella, special salamis or parma / crudo hams. The margharita with buffalo mozzarella has great flavor despite being so simplistic. Tap water is available, as they have a little fountain with glass pitchers in one corner of the restaurant. Once you have found the place (not as easy as it sounds as I have yet to find a sign / logo / etc. outside) you will come back and back and back and back...

Yelp
There are some things I really like about this place: the food, the location, it's style and atmosphere. But my score is always brought down by the level of service. Even for what I describe as European-style service (non-rushed, yet attentive), this place misses the bar. On our most recent visit, the food again was delicious (two pizzas and two pasta dishes among our group), but we told our server upon arrival that we had show tickets in 2 hours. Now normally 2 hours is enough time, especially with a friendly conversation up front about it. But this information only seemed to slow the process down. We were one of the first tables to be seated, so the kitchen wasn't yet busy. It just seemed like a complete disregard for our time. The server rarely came by, and we kept seeing later orders come out before our's. We ended up with less than 15 minutes to enjoy our food. Which we still did (because it's that good) but wish we could have had more time to enjoy it. 4 stars for the food. 3 stars for the slow, inattentive service.

Yelp
I feel like I'm breaking an unspoken rule by writing a review in English for Rosso; hopefully I'll be forgiven. Rosso is tucked away in an old factory near the Hardbrücke station. The Freitag tower looms down the block. There's an industrial/urban vibe to the area and makes it a place to find cool bars and clubs, along with some unique restaurants. Rosso is one of these. Little has been done to the exterior of the building, so as you approach on a cold winter night for the first time, you'll likely wonder if you're in the right place. But there is definitely something cool about the location and style that is worth checking out. As to the restaurant, the interior is loud and dark, as befits an old factory turned pizza place. The pizzas are the specialty and are, in fact, quite good. Extremely thin crust with Mediterranean style toppings. Are they "the best pizzas in Zürich"? Well - that I'm not so sure. Good, yes. Excellent? Eh. As some of the reviews in German have pointed out, when expectations are this high you are likely to be a bit disappointed. Two cool things to add: You fill up your own water carafe at an open sink. A nice touch for those of us who are happy with Hahnenwasser (tap water). And second, if you order an "open" bottle of wine, your waiter will measure how much you drink after you finish the meal. Just pour as you see fit and pay at the end. Prices are typical for Zürich: 20-25 chf for a pizza. 5-7 chf per dl wine. Make a reservation! Often (always?) closed on Saturdays!

Yelp
Pizza was really good - thin crust, great taste. If you want a glass of wine, though, you better buy a whole bottle and pour your own. The Swiss have a bad habit of over-engineering the amount of fluid that is allowed in a glass of wine to such strict "standards " that the result would be considered a "taste" anywhere else !

Yelp
The Rosso is one of the most hyped and trendy restaurants in Zurich. It is located adjacent to the station Hardbrücke and next to the Friday Flagship Store in Kreis 5. It offers trendy Italian cuisine, but also - according to the insiders - the best pizza in Zurich. The industrial design and surrounding of Rosso's is not appreciated by everyone. The furniture looks like it was purchased right next door at Bogen 33. Easy and simple. The prices are ok, though one would think because of the setting of the restaurant, the prices should be low. But the quality of the food is very good. Reservation is absolutely necessary, because it tends to be very crowded. The service is not excellent, but the good food helps you overcome the lame service.

Roger W.

Yelp
Rosso is a nice and cozy place with a very special atmosphere. This is largely due to the fact that the restaurant is a remodeled warehouse. The staff is uber friendly and the food delicious. I can only write about the pizza but it is clear that they do everything by themselves: from the dough over the tomato sauce to some toppings. I was not blown away by the restrooms but that's about the only thing to complain.

Yelp
I love it. The best rissoto that I've never tasted!

jason v.

Yelp
So-so. We bypassed the grungy interior atmosphere to sit on the back patio at a large, shared table. Pizza looked great as it went by but have to stretch to give it a second star on taste. Sauce overpowers the other ingredients, the crust was too thin (and crisp rather than chewy), the prosciutto crudo was cooked on the pizza (rather than topped after the firing), and the eggplant was bland. Beer selection among the worst I've come across anywhere in Europe, and the red wine was at least +10 degrees (F) too warm. Server was inattentive at best. Reco you find another place to spend your CHF

Yelp
I like this pizzeria in Zürich: very alternative, locatef at a place that will be probably soon replaced by a big building. Thinnest pizza in Zürich!

Emilie E.

Yelp
By far the best Pizza in Zurich! I have been to this restaurant three times in the last four years and my pizzas have been impeccable and absolutely fantastic. Before finding this restaurant, I was worried that the only good pizza in Switzerland would be the one we made at home. Until I found this place... the thin home made pizza dough is then wood stove fired to perfection. The only negative is that wait staff has on all three occasions been less than pleasant. However, the crack pizza makes up for it 100 times over! And the location is quite cool to boot!

Yelp
I am one of the people that does not appreciate the decor. Perhaps in Zürichit is considered trendy, but in my point of view, for the money you are paying, you should have a better designed restaurant and better service. Trendy does not have to mean ugly. If they really cared for the design, they could have done it more like Les Halles. Plus the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. There is nothing trendy in an old, ugly and dirty toilet. Food, not bad at all, but for the money you pay, it is not worth it. But then again why should they care because they are almost always full!

Ellen K.

Yelp
Worst service I've ever had in my life. After my pizza arrived with a stink bug in it, had to argue with the manager for 5 minutes before they brought a new pizza. I don't care if your greens are organic -- they shouldn't come with insects. AND I had to pay full price. What a rip off. Do not eat here!!!

Jaz M.

Yelp
In my years in zurich this is the most TERRIBLE terrible terrible restaurant! ALL THE BAD COMMENTS OF THIS PLACE ARE BEING DISMISSED. I usually put good comments for restaurants. This time I have to warn people. Worst service in Zurich I haven't seen. Arrogance and more arrogance. Plus PRICES ARE TOO HIGH! Even my Italian friends were pissed at this place. I have heard bad comments on this place from more than 5 people now.

Eva K.

Yelp
This place is ok. It wouldn't be amazing pizza in a big city but in Zurich it's the best of what there is. But the staff are horrific -- literally the only rude people I've met in Zurich so far. If you park your restaurant in an industrial estate and don't put a sign on the door, don't get so angry when people come in through the back door! and if you want to look like a chill hipster brooklyn restaurant, don't be a passive aggressive a****** who's getting paid about $30 an hour to refuse to seat people because they came in the wrong door. Honestly it's a nice place and I'd like to come back because the food is good by Zurich standards, but the man with the ear separators is the most bad-mannered person I have met in a long time and his ears are also so disgusting that I wanted to barf whenever i looked at him. So hospitality, 0 points, staff hotness 0, and pizza a solid 6 out of ten... well done.
