Wear a big smile and a lot of patience
Drawn in by the beautiful location and positive reviews, we decided to give this place a try. The atmosphere is genuinely lovely — you can tell real attention has gone into crafting an inviting, warm environment. Friendly staff, a nice setting. So far, so good.
The food, however, is all over the place — in every sense. The steak was just amazing. But the desserts — especially a sad piece of cake and a sweet bread with cream — were a letdown. Many dishes feel like refined twists on Austrian cuisine, but they don't fully land. The overall quality simply doesn't reach the level the setting suggests.
The service is the real weak point. Everyone seems well-meaning, but well-meaning only goes so far. You're largely left to your own devices — not angry, not offended, just quietly puzzled. They brought the wrong bottle of wine three times before finally delivering the one we'd ordered. At another point I had to walk into the staff area myself because cutelry was missing — and eventually I fetched it by myself. Friendly chaos sums it up well: well-intentioned, but disorganized and unsure.
There's also some confusion around how dishes are served — portions and sharing arrangements were unclear, which added to the muddled feeling.
The bill, ultimately, feels too high for what's delivered.
I'd recommend this to someone who isn't in a rush, doesn't mind a bit of disorder, and is happy to focus more on the company than the food. Go in with lowered expectations and you may leave pleasantly surprised. Go in expecting a polished night out and you'll likely leave a little underwhelmed.
