Nice calm place. Went there at 6 because I was starving after a long day travelling. There were great plate size to eat. I had the trout and it was delicious, although very hot. Very good service too

Very nice, homemade food. I love the design, not so posh - just place to eat good food for reasonable price. First time in Norway I am leaving restaurant happy 😊

Went to try traditional Norwegian food ,mediocre at best. Meatball bland.Cabbage as mushy as the peas .

The food was so flavorful, the cod was so fresh and juicy, and the meatballs and sauce were so delicious, that I am running out of compliments. Just come, order and enjoy!

The food tasted decent (the reindeer meat was pretty tasty) but had no texture. The waiter looked like it was an inconvenience to serve us, and I don't believe any of the staff smiled even once during our 40-minute visit to the restaurant. The restaurant had a pretty chaotic appearance, and an old lady with sunglasses was chewing very loudly and staring at us during the whole 40-minute visit.

This was just a wow experience. It is a very authentic local Norwegian restaurant where I had one of the best burgers ever! The place looks very vintage and it’s packed with local people that probably dined there since they were kids, since the restaurant has been opened a long long time ago. It’s amazing that they kept it like this to continue the tradition. They don’t have English menus, but the host speaks very good English and it’s anyways quite easy to google translate the menu. However, you will have to actually enjoy the food without distractions, since they don’t have wifi. We had soup and burger. The burger was somehow I think grilled and fried, but it was just wow! One of the best I ever had! The meat is also wow in Scandinavia, so maybe that’s also one of the reasons for the taste. If you’re in the are you need to try it. A+

Very old school diner environment serving Norwegian classics. The food was pretty good. Expect to wait much longer if you get a fish dish. Service was good definitely filled our bellies. Prices are very reasonable for expensive Oslo.

We came her so my wife could have an old school Norwegian experience. This place had the goods. Ordinary food. Stale ambience. Beer (not Ringnes think it was Frydenlund). Not many people but slow service. It was crazy expensive for what we actually ate but for Oslo standards it was like a food bank. We don't visit Norway often but even if we did this would not be a place we would even consider returning too. Probably even not if we were intoxicated and just thinking of dumb things we did in the past and how cool it would be to do it again for a joke.

We three had great meals at a reasonable price. But, wanted to return the next night and they weren't open inexplicably. Google said they would be open. Recommend the fish pudding. Also liked the reindeer dinner.

Best bang for your buck (err, krone) in Oslo if you want to try some traditional Norwegian food! I got the Reinsdyrkarbonader (which is also the Wednesday special, so you save 10 NOK getting the daily) for 139 NOK, which is an astounding deal in the pricey eating world of Norway's capital. Two big medallions of minced reindeer meat, very well-seasoned and it goes well with the onion and fruit sauce. Sides are hefty: big dollop of mashed peas, two potatoes, and a lake of pickled cabbage. The peas were a little dry for my taste, but a good contrast to everything else. Waitresses are a little surly, but it somehow works. Beers on tap, and all in a lovely bar setting. Perfect for a long summer day.

Quaint atmosphere and very good food and drink. The prices are VERY good compared to many other restaurants in Oslo. I had the minced reindeer cakes and my wife had minced chicken cakes... Both are awesome! I would highly recommend!

It's cheap and filling. But the food quality (and ambiance) was more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Like reviewer Kevin L, I ordered the Reinsdyrkarbonader, and it's two big patties with two potatos, gravy, picked cabbage and peas. My wife ordered the regular karbonader, which is the same thing but with beef instead of reindeer. They both arrived at the table about 5 minutes after we ordered. The patties were bland, the potatos, well just two potatoes sitting there staring at you. The cabbage was tasty, and the mashed peas tasted like a very thick split pea soup. So I'm giving this two stars because two stars means "Meh. I've experienced better". And that's for sure. I would try Smallhans around the corner instead. But if low price and speed of dinner are goals, give it a try.

Schroeders is a great place for a beer and a traditional Norwegian meal. It has been made famous by the Jo Nesbo crime fiction novels and certainly lives up to the description. It's a really good spot if you want a 'local' experience and a proper Norwegian meal that won't break you. Main meals range in price from around 12 - 20 euro (89-150 NOK) and are simple, tasty and come in pretty big serves. The food is not fancy, very homestyle cooking. Have the apple pie with ice-cream to finish and you've treated yourself to an authentic Norwegian dining experience. The service is friendly and pretty quick, too. Starting from October they introduce their Christmas menu and it gets very busy here so book in advance!

Overpriced and the service was not very good. I don't have high standards when it comes to service, but we were pretty much ignored the whole time. Fries were just normal fries and the burger was not really that special.

Divey and surprisingly good. We had the roast bacon and mashed turnips in cream sauce and the french onion soup. Both were very good and the beers were cheaper than average for Norway. We stopped through primarily as tourists (we had read a decent number of Jo Nesbo books) but this place is worth visiting regardless of your affection for Harry Hole.
