Restaurant Tradition

Great food and a great experience overall. I tried the Toast Skagen as a starter and the traditional Swedish meatballs (köttbullar) as the main dish, and I really enjoyed both. Everything was very tasty and fresh, and the flavors felt very authentic. The lingonberries with the meatballs were a really nice touch and balanced the dish perfectly. I also had a local Swedish beer (Melleruds), which paired very well with the meal. Definitely a great place to try traditional Swedish food in Stockholm.

First, we had an appetizer called SOS and it was amazing!!! Then, we had swedish meatballs and the salmon pudding, with swedish wine. The meatballs were very delicious and a must if you want to try one of the traditional dishes in Sweden. Finally, we had a fondant with berries sauce as a dessert and it was the best dessert I had in my whole trip! Highly recommended 😍

We recently tried Restaurant Tradition for lunch and had the meatballs and schnitzel. Both were absolutely delicious! The service was also very good, we were recommended some nice wine to go with our meals and managed to get a seat without reservation, however I think it's better to reserve during busier seasons as you wouldn't want to miss this place when in Gamla Stan!

Atmosphere was excellent, and not busy on a January Tuesday night. Free bread and dips given to start, which was delicious. For mains I had the mushroom dumplings, never had anything like it and not sure if I enjoyed them. Dessert was Swedish chocolate cake which was divine. Service was excellent.

From the food to the atmosphere, everything was amazing. We had the S.O.S. to start (three types of herring), salmon pudding and potato dumplings with pork for our mains, and apple crumble for dessert. Everything was fantastic; we especially found the herring and potato dumplings quite delicious. I believe there is a lunch menu, so if you are looking for an à la carte menu, Restaurant Tradition is a perfect place for dinner.

The place and ambiance are very nice, not noisy. I tried the venison here and absolutely loved it, but the lax pudding didn't offer a very different experience; it felt like I was eating regular salmon with potatoes. However, the taste of the venison still lingers in my mouth. You can choose this place for a pleasant dinner. The service is fast, pleasant, and attentive.

A big thank you to the waitor Minna who served me and my friend on Wednesday evening (26/11/2025). She was very helpful, kind and pleasant to have as a server. The food was top-notch. Every dish was exceptional, very fresh and extra tasty. The atmosphere was great. It would be nice for a restaurant of this kind to give towels instead of napkins but this is just a small detail-recommendation. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to my friends.

I had a great experience at Restaurant Tradition. It was my first time trying herring and Swedish meatballs, and neither dish disappointed. I especially loved the berries served with the meatballs. They added such a nice sweet touch to the savory dish. The mashed potatoes were incredibly smooth and full of flavor, which made everything even better. The herring prepared three different ways was also so creative and a fun way to try something new. It was the perfect introduction to traditional Swedish cuisine.
