I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tradition in Stockholm's charming Gamla Stan district, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an exceptional evening. The quality of the ingredients used in their dishes is outstanding. Each bite reflects the freshness and authenticity of traditional Swedish cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the ox cheek stew, which was incredibly tender and rich in flavor, served with a deliciously smooth potato purée. Another standout was the potato dumplings filled with mushrooms, a perfectly balanced dish that highlighted the depth of Nordic flavors. The staff at Tradition are not only friendly and attentive but also fluent in English, making the dining experience seamless for international guests. They took the time to explain each dish in detail, enhancing my appreciation for the meal. Their professionalism and warmth truly stood out. As it was my birthday, I was touched by the thoughtful gesture of the staff who surprised me with a candle on my dessert. This personal touch made the evening even more special and memorable. The restaurant's location near the Royal Palace adds to its appeal, offering a cozy ambiance away from the usual tourist spots. The interior is modern yet retains a traditional Swedish charm, creating a comfortable setting for any occasion. Pleasant spot with a limited but good variety of food. Great selection of Aquavit and good service. There is a community table for walk ins in case no reservations were made.

Nice food. Our first meal in Stockholm. Meatball should be the most famous in this restaurant. It is good 👍🏻. The beef Tata is good too but a bit salty. It should be come with more bread. The Salmon fin is relatively normal, we thought it’s hot and bbq, but actually it’s not. It’s cold dish. The price is fare.

Wonderful place. You are advised to reserve a table but they have a community table you can eat at if they have a spot. The pork dumplings had a strong flavor but the mushroom ones were great. A bit on a pricier side but a very nice dinner

Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. They really capture the traditional aspect of the region, especially with the local "snaps" which were very impressive. The caviar spread was delicious, the main courses were prepared to perfection and the deserts really hit the spot. All in all a perfect meal. The servers were very polite and friendly, they gave great explanations of all the traditional aspects of the menu that I, a tourist, didn't understand. The atmosphere was more mature, still cozy and friendly, but I would recommend it for dates.

We visited this restaurant back in September and while our experience was pleasant overall, it was a bit underwhelming compared to what we had expected. Unlike the other reviews we’ve seen on here, the service we received was exceptional. Our server was friendly, attentive and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. We went during the day on a weekday so it was quite quiet, which made for a relaxed dining atmosphere. As for the food, it was decent but didn’t leave a lasting impression. We had the cured salmon and potato dumplings. I really wish I could say we loved it. :(

Delicious Swedish food. The dumplings were an experience with many layers of flavor like savory of meet, cranberry sweetness and exotic spices all brought together by melted butter. The staff was really friendly and dedicated. Would come back!

Jeepers, this place actually makes me question the other 5-stars I have given recently…it was so good. Had smoked salmon fins as a starter, which I didn’t even realise was a thing until I had them here and now I’m hooked. I could eat these things all day! We had pork dumplings and the meatballs and mash for main and it was fantastic. Great service, awesome food, and a really cozy atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable meal.
