If you're in a mood for traditional German cuisine, this is a place to get it! The restaurant is a little out of the way from all the touristy places in Mitte, and you'll get a glimpse of a residential part of the city, Friedrichshain, that most tourists don't get to see.
The building has an interesting history which used to be an electric power transformer station, and depending on the evening, it offers entertainment venues as well. The restaurant is renovated impeccably with a beautiful open space. We had a great table right next to the window on the balcony and had a great view of the restaurant.
The food was as good as expected. We ordered Schweineschnitzel, Argentinian rump steak, and duck, and everything was cooked to perfection. The only disappointing thing was the quality of the steak which was subpar, and for such a nice restaurant, I expected they would serve better quality meats.
The service was excellent ... the best we've had in Berlin during this trip, and although we were the only table with a child, I appreciated that the waitress was interacting with our son and treated him like a patron instead of ignoring him as in other restaurants.
Overall, it was a great dining experience!
