Yelp
So... you open your fridge... and aside from bread, milk, and Tabasco sauce, there is nothing there. You don't feel like going grocery shopping, and listing all the categories of food you can think of you realize you are sick of everything.
If this sounds like your case, this is the place for you. What you just read is exactly what happened to me, I went here, and left very happy.
This place will keep vegetarians (and I think Vegans) happy, while also pleasing those who eat meat. Their menu is definitely diverse in the sense that they have soups, salads, Asian, Austrian, and so on.
When you look at the menu, the next thing you will see is that the prices are rather high. That tends of inevitably come with locations such as this, that serve natural, more healthy food. Don't let these two things deter you from coming here... Portions are large, and flavors are on point!
I had ordered the sweet potato and ginger soup, and a small lucky salad.
I get the soup, and say "this is a large bowl of soup!" Soup looks uninteresting, but it is neither stuffed with ingredients, nor is it just a salty flavored broth. It is a very simple, pleasant, stomach warming appetizer.
The consistency was excellent, there were tiny bits of sweet potato in the soup, fresh, not glassy as potato becomes in a soup after a day. Ginger added its own dimension of sweetness. Suffice it to say, sweet potato + ginger = awesome!
This soup is a perfect appetizer. Because of its simplicity, I would not order it as a main course... however, it does exactly what the definition of "appetizer" is: food before the main course intended to stimulate the appetite.
My appetite needed that stimulation for the salad. Even the small salad was a big plate of salad! This one definitely ranks as on the better salads I had had in my life.
The leaves in it were crispy, and finally, I found a place that cuts them appropriately, rather than throwing leaves with dressing and requiring you to finish preparing it by shopping (or rather cutting) them.
Rapeseed oil was an excellent dressing. I have eaten salads with olive oil, and sunflower oil, but never with rapeseed. It definitely works without overpowering t the flavors of the other ingredients.
Buckwheat was cooked perfectly. Since I occasionally have buckwheat at home, I know a little bit about its preparation. Not only was it cooked perfectly, but it worked excellently in the salad, adding a whole 'nother dimension of flavor.
Finally, the grilled tofu... I saw these little brown cubes and thought "ooh, croutons" I put one in my mouth, and then realized two things...
1. This isn't a crouton
2. Who needs croutons
The Tofu was grilled so perfectly that it merged the crispness of a crouton on the outside with the softness of tofu on the inside. Superb!
For dessert, I had the chocolate souffle (they call it a different name). Definitely a solid souffle! The chocolate inside stayed melty and hot throughout, the dish was not overly sweet, and the two fruit "jams" were an excellent touch!
Service is polite, fast, attentive, and the location is spotless!
