We sat outside, which looked like the old village square. Service was attentive and friendly, present, despite a bit of a distance to the main restaurant. Food was prepared fresh and was very tasty. What we really enjoyed was the tranquil, peaceful atmosphere. How pleasant.

Nice place to be in the terrace with good weather. Service was good. Food was nothing special, very regular one, no so tasty. The best we ate was the omelette 1692. Women bathroom was clean and tidy however men bathroom could be cleaner.

Dined in the off-season during our stay at the hotel and we had such a pleasant experience! The three-course prix fixe menu was delicious and a great value. Good wine and port, and kind and attentive service. (Dinner was served inside the Pure Monchique Hotel building)

We had such a wonderful time at dinner here and then breakfast in the morning! The hard working staff really takes good care of you ❤️ Dinner was great. Huge buffet of soup, fresh bread, marinated olives, charcuterie meats and cheeses, bacalau, creamy pork, grilled veggies, and rice. Beautifully laid out, and tasted amazing. Great value. Dessert and coffee was very delish! (Fudge brownies, fruit, and Delta espresso maker.) The jazz pianist was fun and upbeat and was the perfect combo with our Monchique red wine ;) The breaskfast buffet came with our room but didn’t disappoint. Again beautifully laid out, tons of options, tons of juices and drinks also. Thank you for the great experience!

Group of 2 couples. 2 different nibbles of olives, although only black olives and initially disappointed there were no green olives we were pleasantly surprised. All 4 chose Salmon, from a limited menu, no one was disappointed. However, our friend Angela would have preferred vegetables without the garlic. Pudding of Orange and Fig, although sadly shared, was delicious said Angela, the rest of the party agreed! The waitresses were very attentive provided service with a smile. We were pleasantly surprised after reading previous reviews and would certainly recommend.

Wow this was an experience to be avoided. The waiter “Rui” was extremely rude. The wine came after we had finished our meals. At the beginning of the meal, the waiter told us he loved to drink. He proceeded to charge us for a drink we never had - a Courvoisier, then tried to tell us this was the charge for the bread. When asked to remove the charge. He came back with correct charges and a 7 euro difference between the bills. He was a very strange man. He was speaking to several tables in Spanish but became upset when we talked to him in Spanish because he had seen our US passports. Spanish is our first language and we had spoken to everyone in Portugal in Spanish. The food was mediocre. The setting was lovely with music playing. The menu was very limited. Avoid if possible.

It was realy bad. Not any dish was fresh or tasteful. The excuse of the restaurant: we have groups to serve. Don't go here.

They're doing their best. It's a captive market and prices are high for quality but that's how it goes. Nice square to eat in.
