Came here for food after visiting the fort after being recommended by various locals! The restaurant is crowded and parking is limited so try to come during off peak hours! Lovely quaint atmosphere, attentive service staff! The food is really tasty, we got the stuffed squid which was divine, and the sardines! Our server was lovely and took time to explain the dishes to us. Otherwise really great experience, frequented by many locals

Absolutely had one of the best time of my life! I was in a van trip with my partner in Sagres and we stop by to eat there and it was beyond expectations. The people working there were absolutely the best, always there for us, gentle, available and we had the best fish soup ever! So if you stop there don't ever miss their fish and seafood rice soup. Delicious, fresh, tender fish! THE BEST. Please don't miss out this

Absolutely sensational experience!! We had heard about this place and made sure to stop on night 1! When we asked about wine, our waitress sent out the most knowledgeable and kind waitstaff to help guide our decision. Wine was amazing! Then we ordered the sardines and didn’t know how to eat them, so the waitress helped us patiently with how to eat and even brought bread to show us how it’s done in Portugal. Fantastic! Then we ordered a steak and the waitstaff was so happy to share their expertise, and on to dessert which we chose mousse (and we typically don’t eat mousse )- best dessert ever! We asked about local biking and things to do and they not only took their time, but were so happy to share all the details of where to go. Even took a bottle of wine to go, and got a couple of local shots on the house! Absolutely incredible experience. If you’re in Sagres, you’d be crazy not to come here!!

The fresh and perfectly seasoned king prawns were cooked to perfection, while the tender steak melted in my mouth. The accompanying egg added a creamy touch. The dish was beautifully presented, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We recommend the Golden ale and house white wine. The overall dining experience exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend this Portuguese 🇵🇹 restaurant!

Yelp
Great roadside restaurant right on the way to the Sagres fort. An excellent option for lunch! The restaurant is split into two sides, to the left the proper restaurant and to the right smaller cafe for a quick espresso or sandwich. To walk into the left hand side after they have been cooking is to inhale the richest purest aroma of fish broth. A promising sign of things to come. We started with their appetizer plate (a ubiquitous element to Portuguese meals- offered without ordering, although not free) with tasty cheese, olives, bread, and anchovy paste. For the meal we had Sagres local beers, and the regional algarve specialty of clams in a butter-garlic sauce and then one of A Sagres' famous fish stews. This is a BIG pot of broth with rice at the bottom and many kinds of fish and prawn cooked with it. It is like a magnificent soup version of a paella. With just this starter, small entree, and big soup entree we were completely full. After the meal we took cafe espressos and a slice of almond orange cake. We were deeply satisfied, and the service, while not the fastest, was very friendly.

Yelp
Honestly a bit surprised of the mixed reviews here. My buddy and I, traveling from the US to surf in Sagres, stumbled upon this spot for dinner as it was down the road from where we stayed (and one of the only spots open for dinner during the January off-season) We had the freshest and tastiest dinner bowl of mixed fish, prawns, vegetables, and noodles. I am usually spoiled and critical with fresh seafood as I live near the coastline in NJ, yet this was just incredible. Great local vibes and business, highly recommend.

Yelp
The building that houses a Sagres, on the left, also has a small bar and sandwich/pasta shop on the right. Both are run by the same people, but the hours and menu are different. We never had the chance to eat at the sandwich/pasta side, but what we saw coming out to those tables looked fantastic. As for a Sagres; it was one of our favorite meals of the trip. We got there just before the restaurant was opening for lunch (shoulder-season + later Portuguese mealtimes meant that planning to have lunch before 12:30 or 1:00 was a fool's errand), but the guys in the bar side sat us and got us drinks to hold us over until a Sagres opened. The owner himself was the server, and he was incredibly gregarious and friendly, and like pretty much everyone working in the restaurants in the area, spoke great English. The food did take a little while to come out, but it was worth the wait. The sea bream was fantastically fresh and grilled, and the octopus rice was amazing. I had visions of octopus fried rice, but it was more like a seafood-tomato stew with rice and octopus. The octopus also tasted fresh, and the rice was cooked absolutely perfectly with just the faintest hint of bite to it. I don't normally like octopus, but this was good. Overall a great meal, reasonably priced, and conveniently located at the end of the main road through Sagres. If we're ever back in the area, we will certainly be back here for another meal.

Yelp
Absolutely great restaurant. I highly recommend a stop for lunch or dinner. The restaurant space is simple and the food traditional and well made. No touristy vibe like a lot of the Algarve restaurants. Excellent bottle of wine we enjoyed - 2015 Cortes de Cima.

Yelp
What could be a sensational restaurant with excellent food and friendly service turned out to be a nightmare for our family lunching with 3-year-old twins due to the staff's lack of organizational skills. First off, opening hours... we turned up at noon hoping to have what's considered to be early lunch at 12:30/1:00PM... waited about 45 min outside when the bar next door kept saying "it will be ready to open in 10 min" - Portugal must be in a different time zone somehow. When finally we got to sit, awaited another 15 min to be presented with the menu. Ordered the kids food straight away (spaghetti bolognese) and specifically asked for it to be served before our dishes... it took 45 min... in total, we waited 45 min for the cooking brigade to open the restaurant + 45 min for the kids spaghetti to arrive!! 90min and our food was not served. We are talking high peak season, August! When our calamaris arrived, we were both starving (2:30PM) and indulged in them - quite tasty but the children got to a stage when 3hrs for lunch was just too much to take. Their ice-cream took 20 min... we're talking Magnum and Solero so nothing too hard to bring to the table. Staff was indeed friendly and overall food very appreciable but I can't say it was worth all the waiting time. That supposedly early/quick lunch was longer than our flight time getting to Portugal...
