From the excellent food, the wine pairing by a connoisseur and beautiful decoration, this place is my favourite restaurant in Portugal. I had delicious croquettes with pine nuts and chorizo rice in the oven, my partner had pork rolled in glazed bacon, everything on point and very well prepared. The desert didn’t disappoint, homemade and traditional.

A true Gastronomic Monument, good food well served and very interesting decor. Coming to the desserts, it makes you want to eat one of each…😋 Very good thank you

Lovely restaurant with a rich local history, worth checking out before going or asking the staff to tell you about it. The food is great, without much fuzz to it - simple, homemade, well-served. At the end, they bring you a platter of all the local sweet delicacies and you’ll have a hard time choosing just one. The house decor is beautiful and very cozy. Gotta go back for the Sunday lamb. On note: if you have mobility issues (like someone in our party did) make sure to ask to be seated in the main room and remember that there’s quite a few stairs to the WC.

The food is out of this world !! You can carefully see the amount of love and dedication they put in each plate !! We tried most of the dishes, from meat to fish and all of them were outstanding!! 9/10 ... Staff are really polite and helpful and the dining room is cosy and beautiful. We will come back 100%. If you are in a big group I advise you to book first .

Google
Fantastic food. Exceptional service. Very authentic place with very good prices. Loved it!! Not possible to book for the same day from google, so consider booking in advance or try to come to opening as we did and succeeded.

Very nice place! Nice service. We had a starter platter - very delicious 😋 For main course we did a mistake, we ordered two separate dishes while we should have shared a one dish as portions are really big. We had codfish in special bread/egg souse $ pork with apples. Pork was so delicious that me, who hates pork, actually couldn’t stop stealing from my partner’s plate :D fish unfortunate was not of my liking. They have a great variety of desert and explain it super nicely. We tried a local cake made out of almonds - it was ok. Nothing overwhelming. Great experience overall. I would def comeback.

Yelp
The place is excellent in every aspect. The location: just a minute walk from the famous monastery. The place: small, cozy and cute (check the downstairs!) The service: quick, friendly, helpful (excellent English!). The food: UNBELIEVABLE! We've had a small lunch sharing two entrees among four people. We added baked vegetables, creamed spinach and salad. The entrees were: partridge in a pot and black pork loin wrapped in bacon with a pear. It was wonderful! Only after we departed, have we noticed two Michelin rated signs on the wall! I recommend this place with all my heart

Yelp
Just had lunch here based on the reviews. I probably ordered the wrong dish. I ordered the chicken in the clay pot and it was so boiled/dried out and couldn't swallow it. The mashed potatoes that came with it were excellent. My husband had the empanadas and the rice and fish dish and he liked it.

Yelp
Exceptional meal and service at a reasonable price. The partridge was moist and the sauce so savory. The pork was well cooked with bacon and delicious. The shrimp with mashed bread was i teresting and good. The pie was amazing. Must eat here in charminf Alcobaca.

Yelp
Excellent Portuguese restaurant in the heart of Alcobaça. This is one of the best places to eat in this area of the country (according to locals). They've been there since 1938 and continue to deliver a quality meal. We eat at Antonio Padiero every year we visit Alcobaça. My favorite is the black pig (porco preto) but everything we've had has been good.

Yelp
Restaurante António Padeiro is a small charming restaurant located a block and half from Mosteiro de Alcobaça. The dining room decor is warm and inviting. Additional seating is available outside at the front of the restaurant. I started my meal with Sopa de Carne (Meat Soup), which actually also had vegetables and noodles. It was a nice light appetizer. For my main course, I ordered Perdiz Na Púcara (Partridge Cooked in Púcara), a dish typical of Alcobaça, prepared in a clay pot. It was served with mashed potatoes, and it was an interesting culinary experience. A beautiful dessert tray with all restaurant offering is brought to the table at the end of the meal; it is really difficult to resist such a tempting offer. Service is friendly. Street parking is available at Praça 25 de Abril (April 25th Square), as well as along Rua Miguel Bombarda (Miguel Bombarda Street).

Yelp
5 stars! Amazing flavors. People were very friendly. Best hidden jewel among locals. You will not regret.

Yelp
We had a great family dinner in restaurant Antonio Padeiro. At first it looks strange to be seated in the basement but when you walk down the stairs and look at the cute family pictures on the wall, you know that you're very welcome! The starters are a big recommendation: lots of different cheese and meats, combined with lovely spreads and bread. A special notice for the main course! It was basically the best steak I ever had! (Tenderloin Peppersteak) They serve lots of different deserts (be aware of all the sugar and eggs ;-)) To sum it all up: this is a five star restaurant, only because you can't give it six stars!!

Yelp
They seem to have two floor levels. We were on the ground floor which looked more like a family room which created a nice atmosphere. The other one is much bigger. The service is very affectionate and attentive. The meals are very delicious, especially the sea bass that I had. Great restaurant.

Yelp
I didn't expect such an incredible restaurant. I had a local dish of chicken in a clay pot. It came with rice and French fries. Delicious and the wait staff was extremely attentive.

Yelp
The restaurant is down one floor from the street level and has a very pleasant atmosphere. There was a mix of locals and tourists with the locals winning out as it seemed to be a favorite place for the locals. The food is traditional Portuguese. I had the chicken in a clay pot since it sounded like a traditional dish. It was a good dish but it is difficult to make chicken boiled in a pot into a great dish. My wife had the beef tenderloin medallions which were quite tasty. The waiters bring around an assortment of appetizers and we picked several which were all good. We each had an excellent soup and a main course plus two glasses of wine each and one dessert for 43 euros which we thought was very reasonable for the quality of the meal. The service was excellent. The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we were very pleased with the choice.
