Restaurante Bajo Guía en Sevilla!

Food is amazing. Fresh fish. This is a kind of à la crate restaurant that you’ll find in the States in a very local area. We were a bit nervous at first to what to expect. The waiter was firm with us, he is bald and bold, he is no joke. They menu is a large variety of sea food and maybe two platters of meat. I did not notice chicken anywhere. The price was a bit higher than average for what we have seen in the area. A sea Bas for 3 people was around a kilo and a half for around 105 euros. The waiter presented us with the kinds of fish they have on a tray, when we chose the kind, he recommended the best ways it is cooked. We went with his one of his recommendations. Eating fried or grilled fish is very messy, BUT, when the food was served on the table, the presentation was a five star dine in. The sea Bas was cleaned from bone, cut into fillets, two pieces on a plate with potatoes served to each person. The rest of the fish was on a large tray set on the table and the heads,tails, and rest of the bones were on another platter. I think they do this to make sure we know they did not cheat us. I usually have pictures posted but we were very curious to try it and did not have time to take pictures.

As italian expert on seafoods,Bajo Guja is a very good choice for drink a very good white wine and shrimps and red prawns.The price its a little bit (very bit!) over but the fish you eat here is very fresh.

Upgraded to 5 stars after second visit, not a common evaluation with me :) I liked the waiters in white livery, the old fashion atmosphere (although it's not such an old place), the nice choice of wines by the glass, the super chilled Barbiana Manzanilla...kitchen and products quality seem solid based on the few tapas I had. Will return for a larger sampling (media racion of alcachofas y langostinas was memorable) Two reservations though : 1) the tapas selection does not appear on their menu (not sure what a non Spanish speaker experience would be but otherwise pro waiters will tell you what can be ordered as a tapa, many things indeed...fried fresh anchovies at 4€ fantastic value, for instance) 2) did not understand the wheeling and dealing with my credit card, trying it on 2 different machines when they obviously knew it would work on the 3rd one...wanted me to give up and pay in cash (no more headache on 2nd visit) ?

Brilliant, food is fantastic. Yes, they don't speak much English but we don't speak much Spanish and we had a right hoot!! One of the best meals we have had in Seville! One not to miss!

Very expensive and bad food quality. What’s worse, based on feedbacks from local people, they seem to recommend particularly overpriced lower quality seafood to tourists and local people often get much better deal. I never had expected such from a long time establishment - usually those kind of restaurants can be expensive but food quality would justify for the high prices - not the case here. It felt entirely like a tourist trap.

WARNING: Do not eat here if you speak English, they dislike it very much, read below! After leaving the bathroom I asked where my party was sitting the waiter from hell sent me to the elevator and pressed basement. When I returned to the main floor an opened the elevator door he was laughing with his friends. He then pressed the correct floor and I went to our table where he overheard me telling our party how he had treated me. We ordered our dinner and asked for some butter for our bread and were told no butter only olive oil. Half way through my salad the entrees came and the others were served. I was handed my entree even though I hadn’t finished so I gave him my plate. Then he left us and we never saw him again. Never poured the wine and handed us off to another waiter who was very nice. A really hurtful and bad experience for everybody at the table. We have concluded that they are prejudice against those who speak English and become very frustrated!

The food was great. The restaurant clean. However the service wasn’t extremely friendly and the English knowledge of the servers was non existent.
