Refined Brazilian cuisine in a charming colonial setting. Nestled in the historic center, the restaurant blends rustic charm with a refined, welcoming atmosphere. 🇧🇷✨ The food was outstanding — fresh, creative, and beautifully presented. We tried a dish made with 30-day aged fish, an octopus carpaccio, and a baked octopus dish that was truly the best we’ve ever had. 🐙 Every bite was memorable, with flavors that celebrated Brazilian ingredients in a sophisticated way. Service was warm and attentive, if you’re in Paraty and looking for a standout meal, Banana da Terra is a must. It is a bit pricey but it is definitely top notch.

Incredible experience! Every dish at Banana da Terra was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The atmosphere is warm and charming, and the service was excellent. We loved every bite and can’t wait to come back. A must-visit in Paraty!

We had the filled squid with creamy rice and the fish with heart of palm risotto (apparently the most ordered dish). The squid was bland, the filling inside wasn’t tasty and it came with a bland creamy rice. Very disappointing. The fish with risotto was ok, but missing that “punch” flavour. Dessert was amazing (banana pie with cinnamon ice cream), saved the day as the other dishes need a LOT of improvement. Drinks were good. Overall too expensive for what they offer, there are much better restaurants in the area with fair price (others same price, but outstanding dishes).

Banana da Terra completely exceeded my expectations. Out of all the places I’ve been to so far in Rio and Paraty, this was hands down the best customer service. Everyone was incredibly attentive and welcoming. It made the whole experience even better. And the food? Absolutely to die for. The octopus was my favorite, beautifully cooked, full of flavor, and plated with such a vibrant mix of colors. I loved it so much I had it twice during my 3-day trip. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Paraty.

Food is delicious - we had the octopus, the filled squid with rice and iced coconut cake. Everything was full of taste, with good portions and fresh ingredients. Service is really professional too and decor is of higher standards than the rest of restaurants in Paraty. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is a must if you’re in Paraty! It was our favorite meal out. The NYT wrote about it and did not overhype the food. Every dish was delicious and creative in its own way without being overly rich or dramatic. The wine list is pleasant. Only feedback would be that the staff be a bit friendlier and more welcoming. They were efficient and not unpleasant but just dry and cold.

We are on a 2 week honeymoon in Brazil and this may have been our best meal. The bread is spectacular, and they brought out some free appetizers including smoked fish, pumpkin soup, and a croquette that was amazing. We then had some cheese balls as another appetizer, and then the crusted fish and squid risotto for dinner all of which was excellent. The service was top notch and we felt that it was a meal that merited a tip beyond the usual 10%. Highly creative and delicious meal that we strongly recommend.

Such a really nice surprise for me, amazing meal since appetizer to dessert. I am really demanding about food and I have to say I was leaving very satisfied. We had to wait little bit long time for the octopus but it was worth it. Nice environment and decoration in the restaurant. If I am in Paraty again I will definitely come again!

Yelp
Had fun, good food, relaxed! Seared tuna was quite good. Drinks and wine just fine nothing extraordinary. But hey this Paraty! Here for a week and will try the other good ones.

Yelp
This place was awesome! The food, the ambiance, the service, they've got it all right. We didn't make reservations. The place was full and we sat in the lounge for drinks until our table was ready which took around 30 minutes. Food: There was 2 of us and we ordered a few dishes to share. Appetizers: we got the little shrimp burgers which was excellent! It was a mini burger with a breaded shrimp patty, sweet potato chips and a cream based sauce on the side. We also got the marinated fish with mango cubes which came with whipped cream and was a new flavour combination altogether for us. For our main we got the fish steak which came with rice, pirao and a cooked banana and was really excellent. Finally for dessert we got the bananas cooked in sugar which was truly absolutely incredible. Crushed peanuts, dulce de leche, caramelized banana, ice cream... Truly decadent and would come back just for this. Overall, amazing experience and would definitely go back.

Yelp
I could have easily eaten here every night! During my week in Brazil, this was my BEST MEAL, hands down. Plus, just checked my cc bill... Two entrees, appetizer things, bread, three drinks. Walked out fat & happy... $46 USD!! Wow!

Yelp
Pricey but outstanding food and service. You must eat at least one meal at this restaurant. It will cost around US$100 for two with no appetizers and no dessert. Count in US$150 to get all courses.

Yelp
We had multiple people recommend this place, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Both the service and ambience were very nice. The fish with the heart of palm risotto was fabulous. Others had the fillet mignon that they thought was great as well. Then we finished with a wonderful banana cake with cinnamon ice cream drizzled with port that I would totally recommend. The prices are somewhat steep, but well worth it.

Yelp
excellent restaurant located in the charming centre of paraty. It looks nice from outside and inside. We read about it in our lonely planet guidebook and it was also recommended by our pousada. They make local fine dishes with banana. It sounds a bit surprising but it was delicious. We really loved our food and the settings. What shocked us a bit was the price. 152 real for a bottle of wine and a total bill of over 600 real for 4 people for just 2 starters that we shared and each a main course. Because of that, I wouldn't go back but trying it once is definitely a must!
