The place was quite empty after lunch hours. Food were served hot and fresh after ordering. I was impressed with the tomato rice; the Portuguese sausage, however, was quite salty and I have a feeling that not every one is going to love its texture. Fries were mediocre too.

Delicious! If you are looking for a spot to eat lunch after your tour of the Belem sites, this is the place. Located on the main street, there is an ample outdoor patio and a very nice interior. We ordered the Codfish cakes with Tomato Rice, and the Pork Sausage with veggies and chips. Both were extremely delicious! Cod seems to be a specialty here and it shows. The tomato rice was delicious and full of flavor. The real highlight was the pork sausage- just a note that it comes deep fried and coated in a crispy batter which is unique. Such smokies! The veggies were cooked well, and the fries, although not that crispy, were surprisingly satisfying. Recommended!

We reserved a table here for an early dinner and sat outside. The service was very professional but it did get cold later in evening. In terms of food I had a salad to start and then the vegetarian curry , both delicious. My son had soup which was a little cold for his liking and then the Portuguese steak. The real disappointment for him was that the steak was served with crisps and not potatoes or French fries. Overall a very enjoyable good value meal.

Pleasant lunch stop in Belem. The restaurant was busy, so we received an outside table. The waiter took a long time to take our orders, and even longer to bring food out. The food was delicious, and the taste was on point. Downside was that we didn't actually see a lot of seafood, there were like 2 pieces of cuttlefish only in our stew!

The food at this restaurant was quite good, and both the presentation and service were satisfactory. However, attention to detail could use improvement. Unfortunately, the dishes weren’t rinsed properly, and half of my meal had a noticeable taste of soap or detergent. This really impacted my overall experience, and I hope they address this issue to enhance their guests’ dining experience in the future.

Exceptional cuisine marred by disappointing service. The food was truly outstanding, with masterful flavours and beautiful presentation. However, the service was woefully inadequate. When I asked the waiter for couvert recommendations, he merely stared at me with a confused expression, offering no assistance whatsoever. Such a shame that brilliant culinary skills are undermined by such poor customer care. Worth visiting for the food alone, but be prepared for frustrating service.

Food is amazing. Codfish custard the best! 🩷

This is definitely a must visit restaurant! My favourite dish was the Prawns sautéed with Chilli and Coriander (with Basmati Rice) which pairs well with the Vinho Verde (green wine). The outside dining was stunning and the staff were very friendly. Service was pretty quick and we didn’t have to wait long.

Yelp
Omg this is a must stop for their traditional codfish shrimp and clams dish. It was so delicious that it was eaten before I could snap a picture. Its right on the main drag where there Is plenty of people watching while you dine.

Yelp
Great food, amazing service and ran into the President of Portugal here! Overall, highly recommend dining during your visit to the Belem neighborhood. I ordered a bottle of white wine (Cacada Real 16.90 euros) to share upon recommendation from the waitress and it was great and went perfectly with the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the Portuguese Codfish Cakes with Tomato Rice and it was delicious! Our table all had the tomato rice as a part of our meals so they brought a large pot (serves 3 but more than enough) to the table. The codfish cakes were delicious but the tomato rice was soooo good. They also offer vegetarian options and the vegetarian pies (basically quinoa and vegetable empanadas) were good! The waitress and manager were super friendly and pointed out the president as he was walking by and waving to us since we were just visiting and didn't recognize him. This was a great last stop on our tour of the Belem area and I would recommend to everyone!

Yelp
We were in Belem visiting the Belem Tower and seeing the area and came across Belem 2 a 8 and decided to try it for lunch. Nice menu, Tapas like and seating outside , great for people watching. My wife ordered the Chicken Salad, mixed Nuts with a Fruit dressing, she enjoyed it. I opted for Garlic & Soft Chilli Prawns, very good. Definitely a nice restaurant to try.

Yelp
Chris and I dined here for a late lunch at 2pm today. The restaurant is an easy walk from the Geronimo Monastery and away from the worst of the crowds. The restaurant is inside a charming historic building and features patio and indoor dining. Both are clean beautiful and cozy. This is a small restaurant. It was a tad cold so we chose to dine inside. It's somewhat cramped but we lucked into the ability to keep a table for four to ourselves. Mid meal the staff tried to sit a single woman at our small table which we were open to however she decided it was too tight and she left. Service was friendly and staff speaks functional English. Prices are mid price and in line with the area. Chris ordered the Portuguese stone soup which actually had a real stone in the hotpot. I ordered the baked cod crusted with cornbread and served over sautéed greens with roasted potatoes and onions on the side. We also ordered the olive plate and bread basket. We ordered the recommended wine from Douro Portugal and it was amazing. Portions were large and each is generous to feed two people. Total bill was 49 euro and then a tip. A good value for a nice restaurant and quality food. We recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
Went to several Michelin rated restaurants (Blecanto, Feitoria and Loco) in Lisbon prior to encountering Belem 2a8 and it held up quite well. The prices were so incredible compared the quality of food and level of service we came back a 2nd night. Please stop by and enjoy the sangria! Wait staff was amazing, food was well thought out and inventive and we ordered a LOT of items to try it all.

Yelp
This place is beyond fabulous. I did not expect to find such a fresh, delicious place on the touristy area of Belém! About three or so blocks before the Jerónimos monastery, outdoor and indoor seating are both available. Note: most of their "snacks" are actually quite large. Three snacks/tapas should be plenty for two people. Shrimp salad with pineapple- 4/5 fresh lettuce, tomato, pineapple, and shrimp! Sounds crazy, and it is a little... Comes with a mustard-based vinaigrette which is isn't too overwhelming. Not my dressing of preference, but everything tastes great together! Steak with onion and mushroom- 4/5 this is actually a sandwich! Each element tastes great separately. The bread is a little flimsy for this sandwich though. The steak is a tougher cut but flavorful. Octopus salad- 5/5 yum! Mixed with green peppers and lots of other fresh, tasty things. A smalllll portion though, which the waiter will warn you of. Prosciutto and melon- 5/5 OMG. I just wanted to drown myself in this melon. Some of the best melon I've had in my life. Juicy, sweet, AND fragrant. Served cold with prosciutto on top! Service was great. Very nice guy. The freshest meal we have had in Lisbon so far!

Yelp
I discovered this restaurant from a Lonely Planet Lisbon recommendation. It's a quaint, small restaurant with seating both indoors and outdoors. They offer traditional Portuguese cuisine at a reasonable price. By reasonable, I mean affordable for American standards, yet a little high for Portugal. Belém is a touristic area, so this is to be expected. With that said, the food was amazing. The service is slow, but in my short experience with Lisbon this is normal. The decor was quaint and coastal providing a comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the Seafood Rice dish and it was delicious. I didn't expect a wet and somewhat soupy rice, which is something I usually do not enjoy. However, the flavor more than made up for it. My husband ordered a typical Sardine platter with a salad and potatoes. It was simple, fresh, and healthy. We enjoyed the wine and our entrees. If I ever find myself in Lisbon again, I would definitely return to try other Portuguese dishes on the patio.

Yelp
Wonderful entrees and courteous service right in the middle of everything. Our favorite spot

Yelp
I dined at Belém 2 a 8 two days ago. It was early evening. Service was excellent and attentive. I had classic cod croquettes and they were excellent - hot and very tasty. I also had sea bass with roasted potatoes and veggies and fish was cooked very well. I enjoyed my dinner! Thank you Belém 2 a 8

Yelp
They served the best meal throughout our Portugal trip. We had codfish cake, octopus salad, and pasta for two people which was just right size for the dinner. Definitely recommend and will come back if we have any chance. ジェロニモス修道院に行く途中、たまたま入ったお店でしたが大当たりでした。お店は落ち着いており、店員さんのサービスは温かく、何よりも今回の旅行で1番美味しい食事を頂く事が出来ました。 おススメのレストランです!

Yelp
Had lunch here yesterday with a friend before continuing through Portugal and am currently doubled over with a painful case of food poisoning. I rarely am confident enough to pinpoint a specific restaurant when this happens, but when she too called complaining of illness, I was sure, considering that this was the only meal we shared together. Belem is a small city with mainly tourist traps, each offering up various seafood dishes. 2 a 8 seemed the most authentic, and I took out waiter's recommendation for the fisherman's stew. I wish I had just had lunch beforehand in central Lisbon, where the prices are more reasonable and servers don't "catcall" visitors to attract more business. That being said, it's a shame that something was off in their food handling, as the actual dishes were both delicious and the reviews from our guide book had good things to say--take your chances eating here.

Seanan A.

Yelp
Food is okay. Nothing special. Too expensive for the quality. The server asked for tip. Unusual in Portugal.

Yelp
Colour me shocked, but the best meal I had in Lisbon was in the tourist haven of Belem! This spot was recommended in our guidebook and I was quickly approaching critical levels of hanger during our tour of the Monastery, so we tried our luck here for lunch. My expectations were not high but I was so pleasantly surprised. I ordered the grilled fish of the day, which was a sea bass served whole, and it. was. INCREDIBLE. I devoured everything on the plate. The mix of baby potatoes and veggies under the fish were insanely good and a welcome addition of roughage after 5 days of light-on-the-vedge Portuguese food. The fish was cooked to perfection and everything was super well-seasoned. I normally don't like to have to work that hard for my food, but I happily picked through pin bones and skin to get every last morsel. Everyone else was pleased with their choices, and the vino verde was served ice cold. I'd skip the tomato salad I ordered, but to be fair tomato season hasn't quite begun and it had cilantro which I hate. The prices were super reasonable, especially considering the location. I think my plate of grilled fish (which was really substantial) was only 12 Euro. We had no complaints about the service. *** Americans, for the love of God stop complaining about being charged for the bread and olives. This is normal in Europe and you can ask them to take it away if you don't want it. But seriously it's never more than 2 or 3 Euro for everything, live a little. ***

Yelp
This was a great restaurant! Very friendly, the owner/chef came to our table and told us about the dishes. Being so close to all the tourist attach ions I was surprised that it was NOT a tourist trap. The sitting was lovely and very comfortable . The dishes were presented so nicely and traditional Portuguese but with some twists. I got a rice dish with cod tongue, I was like why not! ah haha It was a bit salty for me but that's the way Portugal seems to like their dishes with a lot of salt! I did like it and ate all the cod tongues out of the rice, once I was full. A lovely meal and very friendly service! Would go back again.

Yelp
Great food and even better service! Excellent cold beer on a hot summer afternoon followed by delicious food that included alheira, bife à portuguesa, and Masada de peixe. The house made curry butter was a wonderful. Despite it being in the heart of Belem, this restaurant proved to be nothing close to what you might typically find in a touristy area. Fantastic find!

Yelp
What a delicious treat for our first meal in Portugal!! After all day of traveling, we ended up in Belem area of the city and searching for food. We randomly walked into this charming restaurant because it serves traditional Portuguese dishes. We ordered the Bacalhau a Bras and a seafood stew dish (can't remember the name). The stew is tomato based similar to Cioppino, with different flavor profile and less acidity. I really enjoy the stew. Seafood was as fresh as it could be. Noticed something that looks like bay leaf (but much larger in size) that gives out amazing fragrant...I couldn't resist but pick it up and sucking the juice off the leaf. We highly recommend the Bacalhau a Bras. We had this dish almost every meal at different restaurants and love them all. However the version here is head and shoulder above them all. The texture and flavor of potato, onion, and fish are so well blended together that I couldn't distinguish the individual ingredient...Also, instead of scrambled, the egg is almost like a thick runny yolk that coats every ingredient....oh so creamy and delicious!! The service was great too. Our server was friendly and very polite. He was also very patient explaining the dishes to us.....who were eating traditional Portuguese cuisine for the first time. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Belem area. And after your meal, walk down the street to get the famous egg custard tarts from Pastéis de Belém.

Yelp
I had entrecote with black truffles and it was one of those experiences that is probably the same as when I've been with women who cried when they had monumental orgasms. It was inexpensive and amazing. Eat there.

Yelp
This was sooo good and tasted so authentic like someone was cooking for you at their house. Loved every morsel and clean my plate and fish down to the bones

Yelp
The restaurant is on the Main Street in Belém, which made it very convenient. There is outdoor and indoor seating (we sat by the window upstairs which was lovely). We had the vino verde --which was excellent-- the starter bread and cheese, mango curry shrimp, and baked cod with cornbread and vegetables. I loved the mango curry shrimp; the raisins and mango added a nice touch of sweetness to the savory dish. I was not a huge fan of the cod, but my friend loved it. Overall a great restaurant with an incredibly kind staff.

Yelp
Totally disappointed! The waiter asked us to stand up from the table and wait for him to clean the table, standing up next to it almost for 10 minutes. He also did the same to all the clients who wanted to eat. Then he bring the menu and didn't come to take the order, 10 more minutes later. We just walked away. A complete disaster.

Yelp
I'm not usually one to complain about the service, but service was incredibly slow. Almost 20 minutes to get the menus and 15 minutes wait for a slice of watermelon after asking again. The food was bland and not particularly well executed either. There was no fish available. It was a total disappointment.

Yelp
When we looked on Tripadvisor for recommendations on restaurants we saw raving reviews for Belém 2A8, so we knew we wanted to come here for dinner. The food was delicious but we are upset with the service of the restaurant. Upon arriving we were told we had to sit outside because the dining room opened at a certain time, and for reservations only. Minutes after we sat down, other people were coming off the street and were seated inside the dining room. The sun was going down and we literally ate dinner in the cold. Another server came out to help us toward the end of the meal and we asked why we were asked to sit outside, he explained to us that the dining room did not open until 1800, however, we came in at 1900 - The server honestly didn't know what to say to us because in reality there was no reasonable explanation. We found out later on that the man who had told us, that we needed to sit outside was the manager. Yet - No where between us expressing our concerns until we left, did the manager come to our table to explain or apologize for the confusion or inconvenience.

Yelp
The food is good but the service is horrible . We waited outside for 20 mins no one serve us and we have gone inside . Finally the chef served . Everytime when we finish a course , he is doing something else . Ignoring us , i have to physically go there to ask him for help . The bill as well , he is there counting coins for like 10 mins . Finally the bill came , and there are extra charges like latte coffee , i have ordered but he never served us ! Bad grumpy attitute as well.

Yelp
Very good meals, credit card accepted ! The terrace is on the road but inside it's ok a bit noisy but the quality of the food worth it!

Yelp
This is almost a 4.5! My companion and I ate lunch there i the busiest tourist area and season.Location was fantastic. It was very crowded and we shared a room with a big party. So, service was slow. But the food was EXCELLENT and the service friendly, if just coping. I had the Tuesday special of the day: cod and white beans. My companion had the stewed chicken and loved it. The mains were enormous servings and could easily have been shared. Maybe head over early at lunch or dinner to avoid the crowds.
