Had a nice dinner here. Their carabinero carpaccio stands out and we loved the red currant with it. The grilled white prawn and the stuffed crab were on par with the quality in San Sebastián. The clams in parsley sauce were a bit disappointing as the sauce was not what we expected. Their champagne list is impressive with great champagnes decently priced. Jerry, our waiter was super efficient and attentive. The local version of lava cake was very good. Overall, a good place for dinner in a nice ambiance.

Superb in every way. The staff is exceptional and the food amazing. Monkfish grilled was so good. The squid appetizer may be the best thing I’ve eaten in Spain. Loved it and want to go again.

A classic spot in Donostia. The lobster is better than anywhere else. And they really know how to serve up a prime fillet steak. Even the desserts are worth it, the apple pastry is to die for.

If you want to have a fresh and tasty food with a good spot, here it is! Very calm atmosphere so you can enjoy your meal after busy day or after face the cloud in the city

Absolute shocking and disgraceful; CRAYFISH / LANGOUSTINE was cited like this on the menu. We were waiting for the crayfish only to be given desert menus; I questioned where is the crayfish! Apparently crayfish is langoustine in San Sebastián - ridiculous when there was: Lobster, crayfish, spider crab and langoustine in the tank. €144 including wine for two starters, four prawns and a bottle of wine at €40. AVOID as they clearly don't know shellfish and unpleasant last night in San Sebastián. Unhappy understatement.

Unpretentious and spot on execution, with efficient wait staff that leaves you plenty of space, just the way we like it. We are grateful they offer plenty of half portion options. We get to try a variety of things and they are all wonderful, and oh-so-fresh. I have heard a lot about San Sebastian food, and after visiting this place, I now comprehend.

We were in San Sebastián for one complete and two half days and Bernardo Etxea was one of the highlights of the trip. It is not a flashy place in terms of decoration, mostly elegant in the sober side but it shines with the food and the service. Dey, our waiter, who reminded me of Richie, the character of the series The Bear, helped us, not only navigate the menu, but also to choose the right dishes and portions according to our needs and not the restaurants interests. Among others we had the fish soup that was a marvel and a seafood platter with a wonderful selection of species that made a nice discovery for my 13 year old daughter. We like dry white wine and Dey’s selection was not the most expensive bottle but perfect for our preference. When we arrived we were surprised that such an fine place was empty but it was just that we booked early for my kids and the place was full, as it happens in Spain, until almost 22:00. Fortunately it was low season in San Sebastián so I was able to book one day in advance but don’t try the trick in summer when is high season as I’m sure is fully booked weeks in advance. Bon appetite !

Great restaurant - recommend the seafood! We had hake, Galician pulpo and a leg of lamb. We were stuffed, but still ordered the chocolate coulant for dessert. It was like a chocolate souffle with a molten chocolate center and a scoop of chocolate ice cream! It's probably one of the top three desserts I've had in my lifetime! Go just for that.
