20 Best Tapas Bars in Barcelona, From Old-School Dives to the Avant Garde | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tucked off the newly refurbished Grand Central Hotel lobby and resplendent in Mediterranean deep blues and terracotta, this restaurant from chef Oliver Peña (with Lorenzo Cavazzoni) serves tapas staples and surprises made from top-quality, locally sourced seasonal produce: gildas ranked among the best, an indulgently buttery brioche stuffed with tender octopus, a perfectly grilled Iberian "pluma" steak, and a creamy flan for dessert." - Isabelle Kliger

That’s How We Feast

Restaurante Can Bo – Stylish Space with Flavourful Dishes 🐙🍅🍤 We stayed at the hotel and were curious to try out Restaurante Can Bo, which always seemed to be buzzing during dinner time—and for good reason! The interior is absolutely beautiful—thoughtfully designed and atmospheric, creating the perfect vibe for an enjoyable evening. The food didn’t disappoint either. We loved the octopus brioche (a real highlight!), and the tomato salad was fresh and full of flavour. The prawn rice was tasty as well, though slightly on the oily side for our preference. The only downside was some confusion around dog policies, as we received mixed messages from different staff members about whether dogs were allowed or not. A bit more clarity would have made the experience smoother. All in all, a lovely dining experience in a stunning setting. Would definitely recommend—especially for the octopus brioche! 🐶❓✨

Wonderful upscale setting with very attentive service. The flavours of our tapas dishes were exceptional. The tomatoes were so fresh and the romesco sauce with the braised leeks was a show stopper. The Iberian pork was simply seasoned to allow for its flavour and tenderness to really shine. The Chocolate, chocolate & chocolate dessert was as advertised and perfect for sharing. A wonderful dining experience in Barcelona!

We ate here because it was handy, just downstairs in the hotel and we had travelled all day. We had no idea what a fantastic food adventure lay ahead! The Braised Chicken Croquettes sounded like a commonplace option but they were perhaps the tastiest surprise of the evening. Everything we ate was exceptionally good but the Salt Cod Salad, Basil Pil Pil Sauce, and Olives was our joint favourite course. And in my imagine I can still taste that Orange Sauce, in which the Ebro Delta Eel bathed, a day later. It was glorious! The whole meal was. And it was all served by lovely, helpful staff in a comfortable and elegant space. Wholeheartedly recommend! We shall have to go back and try a different selection of their excellent tapas.

After a long day of exploring Barcelona we decided have our evening dinner at the hotel restaurant - CanBo. Every dish was great starting with the Amberjack carpaccio. The fish was delicate and went well with the lemon sauce. Patatas Bravas - perfectly crispy and topped with a sauce with just the right amount of heat. White asparagus in a carbonara sauce which is one of my favorites. The asparagus was tender and almost melted in your mouth. Tagliatelle pasta with oxtail ragu. Fresh pasta with a nice sauce. Grilled Portobello mushroom with Cafe de Paris sauce. Surprisingly, this was the star of the show. The sauce was to die for and if I didn't know, I wouldn't have guessed I was eating a mushroom. Our server (Andrea) topped off the experience with great service and a cheerful demeanor.

Amazing food, up there with the best food we’ve had all week! Andrea was fantastic and recommended delicious food and was very helpful all evening. The smoked mackerel and the octopus brioche were particular highlights! As well as the creme caramel - the photos don’t do it justice!
