Restaurante Casa Calá

Very nice restaurant in the heart of LA Fortuna. The welcome is very nice, the servers are very efficient and helpful and take the time to explain the menu options and specials. We both had beef tenderloin which was one of the best meals I had while in Costa Rica, done to perfection. My wife had a sangria, which they make themselves which was excellent..a dessert in itself! We skipped dessert as we were full but enjoyed a nice relaxing coffee after the meal with no pressure to leave despite the restaurant being full and a very steady stream of new customers. There is a very pleasant feel about the restaurant. I stopped by past the kitchen to thank the staff and was given a very warm acknowledgement back. My wife wanted to return there the next night, but in the end we went elsewhere and tried somewhere new (not nearly as good!)

The location is located in the main area of town near the square. There is plenty of street parking. The area felt safe. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We enjoyed the outside seating area. They had inside seating that seemed nicer, but the outside was relaxing with great weather. There were swings and patio lights. Our server was friendly and spoke some English. We could pay with our credit card. The place must have changed owners or management because the menu and name in the reviews are different than the actual restaurant. The food was good, with large portions. I had a pineapple basil smoothie with rum added to it. You must try it! The chicken fried rice tasted good.

Excellent food and service! Patacones were well made. The calamari was crunchy and spicy. The steak sandwich was very hearty. The tomahawk steak was one of the best I have ever tried, and was topped with a basil garlic sauce; grilled to perfection and juicy flavor. Thank you for the wonderful service.

Great place for a date night , food taste delicious I order Tam Hawk steak . Drinks were good too .. might be pricey but its center of liberia . Has indoor and outdoor area , I had the sweetest experience with the server he was always there making sure we were served well . We had all the attention from server maybe becuase it wasn’t busy but the atomsphere was very friendly

We ate here with a group of 13. Ricardo, our van driver, made a reservation. The food for that large of a group came out fast and was delicious. Many of us had grilled Mahi Mahi. The portions were very large and fulfilling, and the service was outstanding. We will definitely eat their again in March.

Beef wrap was excellent and large portions. Mango drink was delicious. Frappuccino was amazing.

I took a look at the menu prices out front in colones and decided to go in. Got inside and got a menu in dollars with the prices jacked up 15 - 20%. At least be a bit more discreet about ripping people off. Waited a long time to get served. Then the waitress takes my drink away with still 1/4 of it left. However the steak soup was good.

The pineapple basil smoothie is the perfect treat for the heat in Liberia! Great setting with indoor, street and back porch seating. Food was very good and probably the best grilled chicken I've had in Costa Rica so far.
