Restaurante Casa Do Ouvidor

For me this place is so underrated, we had a good dinner here. We were attracted by the pictures first and decided to visit. The are plenty of meat options here. We were shocked by how big the portions are when the dishes were served. And later discovered that they are both delicious! Highly recommend it.

I'm a visiting American who saw this restaurant recommended in Lonely Planet and am so glad I stopped - not only was the service friendly, the food was delicious. In particular, they had one clearly labeled vegetarian option and one vegan option. To get to try the vegetarian version of a Minas classic - feijao - was a treat. Fair warning: I did not confirm what the pork rind-looking things on top were actually made of; I skipped them in favor of what I think were yellow plantains cooked in their skin. And I still left a lot of food on the plate - could have easily split the dish between two hungry people. Terrific, affordable meal. I went in around 2:30pm on Sunday; no wait for a table but plenty busy. It then emptied out around 3pm.

I went there for dinner and asked for the vegetarian side dishes. They brought me me okra cooked and served in bacon and charged me for it. Very disappointing. Not recommended for vegetarians.

Excellent traditional Food from Minas Gerais, finely cooked. Very nice service : thank you Chris ! I strongly recommend !

The service was without a smile and quite rude and dismissive. The portions were small and the worst food I have had yet in in Minas and far overpriced for it. I would not recommend which is a shame due to its history.

Great Food and Great Service a few steps away from Ouro Preto Main Square.
