Highlights

Casa Paco serves up hearty Madrid classics like tender steaks and tripe in a nostalgic 1930s tavern, where rustic charm mingles with local history.

The restaurant was welcoming and easily accommodated our group. Our server—the owner's grandson—was patient and friendly. I had la paella, which was smaller than expected but full of flavor.

How can there be no ratings? This is a very old and wonderful restaurant. My wife came her as a child 52 years ago. Steaks, chops, and other meat, veggies and traditional Spanish fare simply but brilliantly done. Highly recommended.

Expensive. Just one menu option not worth the price. We ordered 2 main course and the main dish in the menu was broken eggs(fried eggs with French fries) and ratatouille(hardly any vegetables tasted mainly sweet onions). Pic attached.

The service was good, the food was pretty good though not stellar. A little pricy, €40-50 per person. I ordered a half bottle of Rioja wine, and a steak, which is Galician, the best beef in Spain. The steak is cooked to medium and served on a hot plate, so that you can cook it more to your liking. It was an interesting experience.

Came here 20 years ago, possibly the best steak have ever had. Was so looking forward to returning. To be fair the steak was still good however the place has deteriorated very badly. It was dirty, cold, very quiet, the owner, apparently the Grandson of the founder, disinterested, unwelcoming and dressed in filthy clothes. All in all a sad example of a once great institution now just a shadow of its former self. Such a shame.

Paying 72 euros to be yelled at by a Spanish man for ordering tapas at lunch is not exactly what I planned for my trip to Madrid. Try handing us a different menu when we sit down then mate.

To repeat Great service, best food, fun atmosphere! An excellent choice for a different and enjoyable dinner. Good value for money.waiters could give better service

The restaurant is shadow of its former self. A dozen years ago it was vibrant and full of life. They made a deserved big deal of their beef solomillo, which was available in different sizes, and then served rare on a special super-heated thick ceramic plate with their logo and “Cuidado ¡Plato Caliente!” where you would finish cooking your meat to perfection. The place was always buzzing with waiters eager to serve. But not anymore. “This” isn’t available, “that“ isn’t available, we don’t do “that“ anymore, “that” is only available in the morning. And the waiter, while not rude, was no fountain of conversation and projected boredom at every opportunity. And btw, this was not some cultural disconnect between tourist and native; I’m Spanish. I’ll content myself with the fond memories of the past and never return.

Yelp
Fuimos tres parejas a cenar.

Yelp
Haven't been here in 25 years. Just like I remember. Solomillo is the way to go. 25 years ago if there was a Yelp it would have rated 5 stars and today it still is 5 stars.

Yelp
Casa Paco is known for their steaks. Having just eaten at Botin (http://www.yelp.com/biz/botin-madrid-2#hrid:yfSdOj4X_3Qr--D3OcWtmQ), we didn't partake and just hung out at the bar. Very upbeat atmosphere and friendly bartenders. When I asked about what he was pouring for another group he gave us a shot to try. Free booze to increase your tips? Hey, it worked on us.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience there. Customer service was amazing and the food was just as amazing. Everything came out in a timely manner hot and fresh. Highly recommend if someone is looking for a good Filipino restaurant.

Yelp
Old, traditional and Rustic Castilian "tavern". Serving the best of Madrid's local meat (ox) steaks since the 1950's, Casa Paco is the place to go if you are a steak lover. There is a traditional bar with drinks and tapas but if you dine, try and get a table upstairs especially if you want a more intimate setting. Disregard the outdated decor and admire the walls covered with lots of pictures of spanish and international celebrities alike- you may be surprised to see some familiar faces. We ordered a wonderful bottle of Rioja, some white herring tapas and cheese plate for appetizers, and ordered the Ox by the kilo! Steaks come out cooked to perfection on sizzling plates (seriously) so be careful, don't touch! Papas Fritas on the side- thick cut steak house fries perfectly golden and crispy on the outside. Waitstaff a bit stern and aloof but eventually warmed up come time for the apertivo shots! For an authentic Spanish steakhouse experience that you're sure not going to get in the US and dine on local ox, Casa Paco is the place to go!

Yelp
I love it. Been going there since the sixties. kilo steaks on finger burning plates. Roast potatoes. Fresh tomato's. Strawberries smothered with yellow whipped cream. And in season baby eels. Not elegant but real including the dignified daughter of the founder.

Yelp
A disappointment. The gazpacho almost certainly came out of a cardboard box and lacked the guarnición one would expect from an establishment of this repute. Moreover, the tortilla was hard and tasteless. An expensive mistake, should be avoided.

Yelp
do it if you can.... It offers very gooood quality meat; like the one you can in the States . But From local cows. Not so much in Spain. Ok to go at least once . Check!

Yelp
We also read about this place in our Spain guidebook. It took us a while to find it, but we finally did and were seated in a nice little dining area where other Spaniards and foreigners were enjoying dinner. The buey had been recommended (you order it by the kilo, half kilo is what my husband got) and I ordered a fish dish. The size was good on both items (obviously half a kilo is a lot), but my fish lacked in creativity and flavor - it was bland and plain. It didn't help that my side was an iceberg lettuce 'salad' (a personal pet peeve of mine is to call iceberg lettuce 'green salad') and a baked potato that was tasty, but plain. The buey he ordered was delicious, perfectly cooked and I did have to sneak a few bites from his because it was more interesting than mine. In short, perhaps overpriced for bland food and bland service... but the restaurant is nice inside, lots of bullfighting pictures and such.

Yelp
It's not a charming restaurant at all. We were disappointed. The waiters are not friendly. The food was not good but we finished the plates. I missed the art part of cooking. Never again.

Yelp
Amazing steaks in a traditional rustic setting. Not the cheapest place to eat but paying a bit more is worth it. Even the house Rioja was a 6 year old Reserva! Excellent!

Yelp
We tried this restaurant based on our 'New Europe' tour guide's recommendation. She told us a story of her grandfather taking her to the nearby market every week as a child, walking past Casa Paco and pointing it out telling her when she was older she needed to go there, cause they had the best meat from happy cows (those raised in the countryside). We ordered a variety of meats - suckling lamb (falling off the bone - yum!), ox steak (delicious) and veal (so tender). Overall a very good meal at a decent price.
