AN ENGLISH CUSTOMER
We had a nice fish dinner, but there was no wine list and were told it is "just white or red", but there was no pricing to be seen or offered. We were not asked if we wanted any desserts or coffee (we didn't anyway), and we had to ask for the bill (that's OK).
When we came to pay they then told us that they did not accept any kind of card payment, only cash, for which I did not have enough with me. I went to the bank to get cash using a Cashpassport card and was charged 7euros commission for 50 euros cash! Our bill was 59 euros and after an argument we settled for 50.
There is no sign outside, or forewarning at the table, that it was a cash-only restaurant. I assume it was Pedro whom I was talking to (he seemed to be the boss) but he had no reasonable excuse for not accepting cards, in fact he was trying to suggest that there was no web access for card transactions in the vicinity, which was absolute rubbish since we had used cards in adjacent restaurants already over the past week or so.
Other people in the restaurant at the same time had the same issue about cash.
From what we have experienced, and from most of the reviews on this site complaining about the same issues, this guy is a shyster and I would recommend avoiding the establishment.
A very poor attitude to business in our view.
