Restaurante Don Juan

First time eating here, and it was a pleasant experience. Beautiful restaurant and sitting upstairs offers great views and a nice breeze coming off the lake. The staff is very friendly and the service was excellent. The menu offers a wide selection of meals that should satisfy everyone. The food quality and flavors were outstanding, which justified slightly higher prices than other local places. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 Star review (which I only rate if everything is perfect) was that a few items were slightly cold. I informed the waiter, and this won't keep me from coming back. Everything else was top notch, and I'll change this review if it improves next time. The wife's breakfast Americano combo was very good. My chilaquilles were also, and the Skirt Steak was an excellent addition and value. I could literally cut it with my fork! Most tender Skirt Steak I've ever had! We'll be back!

Great location and service, good food Set right next to the lake, Restaurante Don Juan's atmosphere is somewhere between a tiki lounge and a contemporary gourmet restaurant, with spectacular views of Lago Chapala. This restaurant's upper floor gives it a definite edge where panoramic views are concerned. Service is warm and attentive, and the food on offer is of a high standard (lunch/dinner more so than breakfasts.) Prices, too, are fair, given the quality of the setting and what's on offer.

I ordered chicken crepes and it was delicious. Green sauce was tasty and flavorful. The server was attentive. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Chapala.

Today I finally tried this place. We ate upstairs with a glorious breeze off the lake and front row table enjoying the view. The staff was very friendly. Food was excellent. I had Chiles en Nogada because it is only available for a short time. Nobody came to check on us while we ate, so I was unable to obtain some lime, which I wanted, but otherwise, we were happy. My friend got chilaquiles with green sauce and had to take some home. They are pretty much only a breakfast place, though open until 2 pm. We were expecting a lunch menu, so just 4 stars because I think they could have a different menu after noon. In fact, it would be very lovely in the evening, but they aren't open. Go figure. This is an excellent place for breakfast or brunch and I will be back.

Find food and wonderful View literally on the edge of Lake Chapala. A treat to have combination

The waiter and waitress were wonderful and attentive to our needs. There were 7 of us and we arrived separately making things a bit difficult. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the gorgeous view. It was our first time there but we will definitely be back soon!!!! The waitress spoke perfect English. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Refills of coffee were offered (and accepted!!!:-)

Very nice! As a party of six for brunch, we got lots of attention from the wait staff. They were eager to please. There was some confusion over which breakfast meats were available, bacon, ham but no sausage, but in the end everyone got exactly what they ordered in a timely manner. Great view of the lake with about 25 small sailboats. Very nice. Looking forward to coming back for lunch or dinner so we can sit on the top floor and really see the expanse if the lake. Plus I've heard that they have a great lunch/dinner menu.

Excellent service, right on the Chapala Lake. Great views of the lake. We had an excellent appetizer of queso fundido with chorizo, marlin tostadas, and shrimp empanadas. Entree's were grilled shrimps, shrimps wrapped with bacon, shrimp cocktails, and stuffed chiles (peppers). Very simple, casual; but good flavors!
