It’s a local place to experience. Overlooks the water. It’s simple, but has a character and historical significance of this area. I left feeling happy.

This is the Brazilian style grill it yourself steak. This restaurant has a quiet and serene view of the bay.

The views are better than the food itself. Moqueca and pastels were just okay, shrimp could have been fresher and cleaner.

Was staying in Urca … so called in as I was staying close by. My girlfriend and I had steak and chicken stroganoff. I like my food … but I have to say the portion sizes were large and then a little bit more. Staff were professional and the meal was very reasonably priced. Call in and give it a try if you’re feeling hungry.

Amazing location in Urca, on Av. João Luiz Alves. This restaurant is situated a stones throw away from the small Praia da Urca beach. A safe area with in a friendly, helpful atmosphere. Service great! Food ordered here was sizzling steak with broccoli rice, onion salad and breaded plantain to share. The sizzling steak was the showpiece and the food was overall filling and tasty for an unplanned or unreserved lunch.

How shall I describe this exotic combination of flavors exploding in my mouth? First we have the amazingly tart caipirinha, then the picanha shows up on a sizzling plate and then the rice, deep-fried plantains and fries show up. Finally a picture of what it looks like on your plate, steak is topped with farofa, a tapioca flour based condiment with olives and herbs.

Food is just amazing!! After we finished our dinner, we ordered the papaya cream for dessert, a couple of minutes later we were informed that this option was not available anymore since they did not have papaya. Guess the server saw our dissapointment faces (it was our last night having dinner in Rio before heading home) and felt like doing something about it, so someone from the staff was sent to buy the papaya so we could have the delicious dessert!!! If that is not considered the best costumer service, I don't know what could be...we totally recommend this place!!!

I have been travelling for a month in Brazil and this is definitely the best restaurant I have been. Great food, super nice service and atmosphere.

Splendid ! Steogonofi was splendid- chicken , rice , mushrooms and creamy soft curry like sauce on top with baked potato slices. Caipirinhas are small but their strong balance makes you sip and enjoy them watching the sea at far. Great service. A must around this area.

This is my favorite restaurant in Rio! The picanha was perfect, especially because we finish cooking it at the table, which is perfect for sharing. Oh and the portions are huge! Two people can share a 1/2 order!!!! Also, sobremesas (desserts) was one of my most used Portuguese words and at Gatota de Urca was no different, because the fried banana with ice cream was amazing! It's a 15 minute walk from Sugar Loaf Mountain! Don't miss it!

A very cute little restaurant with a great view on the city. Good thing is: they have an opened veranda so you have the impression you're having dinner outside without being really close to the few cars which are driving around! Picanha is a great deal. And more than enough for two. Best restaurant so far in Rio!

Yummy yummy in my tummy. This place is very close to my school in Urca so I often come here for lunch. For lunch, they have daily specials for very cheap. I often get their chicken Parmesan or chicken stroganoff. The gentlemen who work here are very sweet and work very hard. This place has everything you could want ---red meat, chicken, pastas, pizzas, cocktails, beer --you cannot go wrong. You even get a view of city while dining towards the front of the restaurant. Very busy during lunch time. No complaints.

The food is delicious!!! We had grilled beef and the service was really fast and nice. The view is also a good point for this place. Totally recommend

Excellent pizza, great view, awesome atmosphere. I ate here yesterday and already can't wait to go back. It's tucked away in Urca, right next to a small beach and shellhouse. The neighborhood is quiet, has lots of beautiful small houses, and an excellent view of Botafogo. Highly recommend stopping by, especially if you've just finished Pão de Açucar, or a hike up Morro da Urca. You won't be disappointed.

Worth only the view. Chopp awful unlike most of Rio bars. We had the shrimp stroganoff nothing to remark

Fantastic view and nice restaurant! I always order and recommend the "Picanha na Brasa" dish which you cook your own steak. If you like meat, this is the one to eat! Also, if want to hang out at night, you can order appetizers and drinks and take them to the sidewalk or beach.

Located in front of the sea, this restaurant is a good place to go if you are in urca. The view is good, the food is good (Try the sliced picanha).
