The place is nicely located and out waitress was friendly as well. You might wonder why we only give two stars in total. The reason for that and what really upset us is when we saw the food. We paid 20,50 € for a portion of octopus which could have been a free tapa in another bar We also got a salad for around the same price which was fine but not worth the money. Food is not bad and service was fine but the owner is clearly aiming for tourists who don't know what to expect from a restaurant in this area. And on top of that, the prices in the menu exclude VAT - which is even illegal if my quick Google research was is right. We are certainly not going to set a foot in that place again and would encourage anyone not to support this rip-off culture.

My wife and I ate here the evening of Wednesday, 9/24/25. We ordered an eggplant w/honey appetizer, and two entrees --char coaled octopus and red mullets. My wife's entree came out first. The eggplant followed maybe 10min later. I proceeded to nibble on eggplant and watch my wife eat while waiting for mine. I alerted one of the servers (not ours, she had no been coming frequently to our outdoor table), and alerted him to this. Then another 20-25 min later our server came and told us that she had forgot to place my entree order, and they were working on it. Mine finally came out, maybe 30-35 min after my wife's did. No offer was made to front us a free drink, entree, or whatever. Nothing. Needless to say I'm not sure we will be coming back here as there are many other options in the area.

Eating by the sea is always enjoyable for us. This restaurant has a neat story history dating from 1954 every fisherman would gather here to sell what they caught. Later the spot became much more than a gathering place etc. Anyway the smoked octopus was delicious As well as the fried sardines. We also tried the avocado and tomatoes salad which was nice and fresh. We finished with a flan and some awesome cafe con leche. And the coffee is so good. The service was so so. The waiter had too many tables was short with us and did not take the time to explain the dishes and what they came with. Overall the food was great and the prices were reasonable. Definitely will go back since the location is great. Restaurant a bit dated but it is one of the first if not the first in that bay.

Great food to enjoy in a nice place with the family. Kids can play in the sand while you wait for the tasty food.

Excellent food, very friendly service in the perfect location. This 50 year old restaurant has excellent food from the tradition using mostly local products. They have a well deserved online reputation in the social media. Hope all the employees are getting a slice of the success as all of them work very hard with passion. We had the special sea food paella and the grilled octopus as starter. The sangria was also great.

So, here we are after 4500 miles from Miami to Salobreña at El Peñon restaurant, and nothing will keep me away from enjoying the food, the friends and the warm Viva Miami. It was exactly how I felt it would be and more. But Danny made it all to be extra special. Hugs to La Chica, Jesus, Antonio and the rest of the gang came to my table to say hello and offer me an array of appetizers and a delightful postre. Thank you for that guys. La Chica sent me what she had cooked for "the kids" that I will call it ajiaco. Delicious. Danny made me a believer with el pulpo a la Salobreña, yes it's the best. Nice cool chardonnay and the best black rice ever. Salads, crunchy bites, chupitos. Timely harmony of flavors catered by Danny to the last detail, like picking my favorites dishes throughout the meal. That's something to brag about. Cheers!

Worst meal ever. This place is a tourist trap with bad food and staff who does not see the customers at all and seems like they rather want to be somewhere. The menu card does not at all describe the dishes, so you have no idea what you get except for the main ingredient BUT the prices are all too expensive. We have been before a few years ago but this was the last time. Deep fried calamares 13€!!!!for one plate! Salobrena octopus…….Yak…..that was the most disgusting dish that tasted like salt and looked like something poured from a can. 3 LONG BLACK HAIRS on 2 different plates…….discusting and we are all blonds but had 1 plate switched with another meal and told the waiter there was one more hair but he did not care. And the fries……6,5 € for something I could cook better in cold oil. Cannot recommend👎🏼

Google
Great little bars with really friendly helpful staff. The bar is away from the main beach front and traffic so very peaceful with the just the murder of customers and the sea! This is our favourite place in Salobreña.

Yelp
Amazing service. Beautiful location! Fresh seafood. They didn't open until 1pm but we arrived at 12:10pm and they allowed us to get a drink on the patio until the kitchen opened. So nice!

Yelp
Really welcoming place in a perfect quiet-ish location. Friendly service and incredibly fresh seafood perfectly served... the best paella in Spain so far!
