O'Grelo

"A classic address for Galician cuisine in the Spanish capital, O grelo has been serving the best fish and seafood from NW Spain for over three decades. The extensive choice on offer, including standout dishes such as spider crab and different cuts of hake from Burela, is complemented by delicious savoury rice dishes and an excellent choice of Galician meats." - Michelin Inspector

Best seafood place in Madrid no doubt! The food was so good that we forgot to take pictures to most of the dishes. They have a wide variety of seafood, all fresh and delicious. The ambience is good, the restaurant is average size so better to reserve ahead.

We stayed in the owner’s Airbnb just in front of this restaurant. We found this restaurant full of customers any time while it’s open, and most of them are local customers, not the visitors. We thought it must a truly good restaurant certified by the local customers. We decided to try it, and finally went 5 times during our 7 nights of stay. We are very happy that we have done so. We enjoyed all the foods so much we had at this restaurant. The seafoods served at this restaurant are very fresh or live. All the dishes are well prepared with delicate presentations, and very tasty. Also, the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended. A mast-do in Madrid.

Google
Absolutely love the seafood here. We have travelled Madrid plus Barcelona for 10 days and still found the seafood here top of the list We’ve ordered king prawns, oysters, scallops and octopus. Nice staff Lots of wine selection Not difficult to reserve seats online

Excellent quality seafood and great service. Staff helped a lot with menu choices and making you feel at home during the experience. I love being able to choose which piece of seafood I want from the bar. Great wines by the glass.

Best octopus I’ve ever had. Fried milk was fine, but the apple pie was really good. Fantastic service!

The food is the star of the show but the people are great and I loved the buzz in the air at O'Grelo. I enjoyed the clams and then I had the merluza (hake) a la gallego. They were both really good. The albarino (sic) wine of the house was tasty and reasonably priced. I also enjoyed the crepe desserts--they were made fresh and were fantastic! O'Grelo is on the list for my next visit to Madrid and I recommend that you do the same.

Visited this restaurant 3 times during our trip, the seafood are all very fresh, high quality and cooked to perfection. Staff are all very friendly and the owner/chef came to greet us every time. The restaurant gets pretty crowded after 8ish, so make sure to make a reservation. We managed to get a table without a reservation the first time, we were there around 7. Highly recommended.

Every dish we ordered were excellent, but seafood was the star here. Highly recommend the grilled platter (scallops, baby squid and razor clams were standouts), giant prawns and tuna and avocado salad.

Yelp
Listed on the Michelin guide. We came early with no reservations. There was only one table seated at the time so we were able to be immediately seated. When we were leaving, the place became packed. It's not that big but has some larger round tables to seat up to a party of 5. English speakers available. Great spot for fresh, delicious seafood. 2,50 per person for bread and aperitivos. Water bottles 3,50. We ordered percebes which were 300 euros/kg. You have to try these when in Spain since they're a delicacy and very hard to harvest. You remove the outer part and eat the inside. Watch out, you may be sprayed with orange juices as you twist them open. Wine per glass is inexpensive. Also tried the gambas especiales for 180 euros/kg. They were good but nothing special. I thought I was ordering large carabinero prawns but instead they were just like small shrimps. Sweet and well cooked though, on a bed of rock salt. The zamburina plancha or scallops were beautiful cooked and delicious. Ordered the pulpo gallega or grilled octopus and it was ok. It came out pre sliced. Id rather see the whole leg instead and slice it myself. It was not very flavorful and a bit rubbery. I've had better octopus. The raw oysters were huge and delicious. I highly recommend whole fish. They prepare it and bring it to you whole and plate it at table side for you. It's extremely moist and tender. They change your plate after every course. Service is not very attentive and not extremely classy but nice. Overall, great experience and extremely glad we dined here!

Yelp
I had a great jamon iberico and shrimp paella here for lunch. The rice was cooked al dente, with a nice mixture of flavor from both the saltiness of jamon and the sea flavors of the shrimp. The paella pan created a little bit of burnt and crunchy rice at the bottom (as it should), so it was fun to scoop that out. There were many other seafood items available, and I would love to try other items from the menu at a subsequent visit. At the moment, I can only savor the memory of that delicious paella.

Yelp
Really fresh seafood. 40 year old restaurant renovated with modern touch. Owners, both father and son are very friendly

Yelp
Dear foodies, another fantastic restaurant that was around the corner from our airbnb...this one Michelin rated...they specialize in seafood...we sat, and were greeted by our wonderful server, the complimentary tapas was delish...it was a potato croquette...we then had the tomato salad, as well as oysters...both excellent...for our main we had the seafood platter...shrimp, prawns, scallops, crawfish, and mussels...be prepared to get your hands dirty, they are all in the shell...but have no fear a wet towel is given to you after....and finally the dessert...it was exceptional...we shared the apple tart, if anything go just to try it...we cleared the plate...everything was beyond our expectations...I recommend reserving on weekends

Yelp
First time to eat at this restaurant. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We had steak along with potatoes and seafood soup . Lots of people enjoying the evening while eating . And, the price was a little higher than most of the restaurants in the surrounding area , but it was totally worth it.

Yelp
Last night in Madrid and last night of our 1 week trip. We happened to pass this place on our way to another restaurant and the fresh seafood on the window display enticed is to stop our walking and decided to eat here. Tip, the bar area and the dining room has 2 different menus. We decided to eat at the bar, it looked like a happening place and the prices of food at the bar seemed cheaper. But, the food was out of this world. We ordered buey which translates to ox meat, it tasted like cow steak. It was grilled and looked like a cow steak with less fat. This is my first try of this type of meat and it did not disappoint. We also ordered callos, has tripe and garbanzos, again delicious. We ended our meal with fried milk...I really liked that dessert. It was a great meal to a wonderful visit. Even though we don't speak Spanish. I felt they were very patient and hospitable. I would come back here just to try other dishes.

Yelp
We found this restaurant by luck and we end up loving the place. The service was amazing, very nice and helpful. We didn't have a reference on what to order so we practically did it blindly but everything we tried was perfect. We tried arroz a la marinera (honestly one of the best I ever had). The restaurant is a little fancy but worth it, if you are looking to celebrate something or have an amazing dinner or lunch I encourage you to come here.
