The food was tasty, but a bit cold. We didn’t wait a lot for dishes but they were served slightly warm and because of the it was not as delicious as it could be. The portions are not very big so you will leave restaurant hungry or order a dessert. I choose second option and ordered lemon meringue. And I loved it! Ice cream + lemon sorbet + meringue on top, so delicious! The service was okay, not all waiters speak English well, but they serve tables fast even though the dishes are already cold. Don’t know if the reason for cold dishes is chef or waiters. Atmosphere was nice, a lot of mirrors and greens in the decor. Sometimes if the restaurant is full, it might be noisy.

Google
An upscale restaurant with some unique tapas and dishes. The inside is quite spacious and comfortable. Not too noisy either. Food was not bad, some dishes were a bit confusing like the Russian salad and Raviolon of oxtail in red wine. The shrimp and scallop croquettes though were delicious! Creamy crispy croquettes with the taste of the sea. Gazpacho was also very good too, it was smooth with croutons and bits of bell pepper sprinkled on top to give it a different texture and flavour. Also enjoyed the Padron peppers, they were roasted beautifully and had a nice caramelized flavour. Service was nice. There’s also English on the menu so it’s tourist friendly.

Great atmosphere, wonderful service, but in my opinion the food falls short. All the dishes had a wonderful presentation, we just expected better flavors.

Google
Good food and good service. Affordable place with good portions. We sat outside, but still got the attention of the servers most of the time. We also got the dessert, which was kinda melted (we got the trio sorbet) but in the end it tasted very good

Google
Great atmosphere, both terrace and inside, tasty & affordable food and good portions! 10/10 would recommend.

Google
I went for lunch, ordered garlic shrimp and the pumpkin gnocchi.. The gnocchi, I liked, great flavors, but it was soft, maybe because it’s made out of pumpkin not original dough. However, garlic shrimp was horrible, and they didn’t serve bread with it. It was crowded, service was lagging and slow.

Google
Neither good or bad. A bit over price for what it is. Nice staff but the food its ok, just ok.

Google
Service was nothing more than plate carrying. We sat on the terrace, lots, and I mean more than 5 beggar people came asking for money and just staring. This should be managed by staff. Especially as you pay a premium for sitting outside! The food was OK, nothing special.

Yelp
Just had dinner here and pleasantly surprised. It really beat our expectations. And the prices were very reasonable: not tourist trap priced. My wife and I shared a bottle of wine, calamari, gazpacho, two pasta dishes, and then I had an Old Fashioned all for under 50 Euro!

Yelp
I was extremely pleased with Ginger. The food was very delicious, well-priced and generous portions. We had two dishes tonight. The first was the Chicken Tikka Masala, which came with Indian rice and was served in a thin pastry bowl. The flavors were very good and the chicken was plentiful, considering the price was just 9.15 Euro. The other item was the Suquet stew with monkfish. The menu says it comes with clams and potatoes, however I did not detect any clams. Regardless of the missing clams, there was a nice portion of fish and the potatoes and sauce were delicious. The price was also relatively low at 13.75 Euro. Service was good, although we had a ten minute wait at the table before a server came to us.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This was the worst restaurant and food I've had in my whole life. This doesn't belong in Madrid or anywhere. The tuna was fishy, the dishes had no seasoning or salt, the food was tasteless and the service was also horrible lol. Nothing good about this place

Yelp
I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Mostly 4 stars and a stack of one stars... some recent. What is going on here? Have the Spanish split and some like what others hate? Maybe foreigners like it and locals are strongly opposed? I get it. There is a variety of foods and languages going on. I ordered a burger medium and it was a little pink for my liking but, nothing to gripe about. We had appetizers, wine, salad, and dessert without any issues. Americans traveling for a couple of weeks looking for a little taste of home mixed with the flavor of travel and a glass of wine. Ginger hit the spot!

Yelp
I was very disappointed last night at Ginger. Every time we visit Madrid, this was a must. We enjoyed their older menu with robo de toro. One our our favorite dishes. They were the very best in preparing this dish. This is not anymore. We still stayed for dinner and we were shocked. The service is no longer great. The meals came scattered and the food was cold and undercooked. I ordered the curry solomillo. This dish has no curry as stated and it was undercooked. The few beans in the dish looked as if they had taken them out of the bag and just poured it on the plate. Plate was also cold. My brother ordered spaghetti and it came out cold. Never change a good thing as they say. Last night we said goodbye to Ginger and will not be back after many years. This was always our last stop and where we enjoyed our last meal before going back home.

Yelp
Probably the worst experience we had in Madrid during our 7 day stay. The waiter legit threw our silverware on the table at us & would barely acknowledge us. The service, all around, was lacking, and not just because they were busy. The waiter didn't even try to be nice. The food was mediocre, at best. If anything, the truffle risotto was decent & we enjoyed the wine. We had high hopes & were incredibly disappointed!

Yelp
Nice place but gave me food poison... violently sick 24 hours The waiter was lovely but 2 muscles & I sent it back but that was still too much for me ...

Ryan M.

Yelp
The meal i had here was included in my tour group package, we got to choose from a selected menu, i chose the risotto with fried garlic and olives and Hake loin with tomato confit, and a caramel custard (flan) for my dessert. The risotto was perfectly done, nice and creamy all the way thru but not mushy, i usually find them under done in most places. I was nervous about ordering the Hake because i don't really like tomatoes. I do like spaghetti sauce and all that stuff so i figured i'd take a chance, since my other options were pork and chicken and i was in the mood for fish. When it came out it was a very simple presentation, just the hake in a very thin tomato sauce. But after one bite, it was all good. The sauce was slightly sweet and not acidic as tomatoes can be, it was a perfect way to add a nice subtle sweet flavor yet still let the fish come thru. I found myself slathering the fish in the sauce before each bite. The caramel custard was delicious, nice and silky smooth and had a nice caramelized taste to it. Yum! I looked at the menu, it seemed pretty reasonable for what you get, you could easily get a good appetizer and entree for less than 20€. Nice atmosphere, good portion size, and reasonable.

Yelp
Truly overrated. Bad service. Bad food. Disgustingly filthy floor in the dining area. Have a pic of floor but doesn't appear that I can attach it. Don't waste your time with this restaurant.

Silvia N.

Yelp
Awesome food !!! Can't get wrong with any of the choices. Desert was pancake with chocolate ! So good Very clean and comfortable ! Haus wine was a good choice too!!!

Adam D.

Yelp
The space is elegant and enormous. I could have been back home in NYC and not known the difference, except for the significantly cheaper prices and much more generous portion sizes here. For under 30€, I got the sheep's cheese salad, the chicken cous cous, a water and soda. The cous cous could have used a tad more seasoning, then again I was not in a Moroccan restaurant. Overall, the menu offers a great variety with almost unfair pricing considering how much food you get for how little you pay.

L L.

Yelp
We did not eat in the dinning room - which looked really nice. Instead, we had coffee, hot chocolate, water and a bunch of snacks in their outside seating areas. It felt that we were actually sitting in the middle of street with cars / trucks passing us only a few feet away... interesting. We all ordered quite a bit of stuff and I was prepared for some real damages to my bottom line. It was an amazing pleasant surprise when I got the check! It was so reasonable that I decided to give the server a 5 Euro tips (which took a bit of convincing for her to take it). I must got the happy hour with big discount...!? I will come back here if I can find this place again.

Alejandro P.

Yelp
it is a really disgrace, The wine sucks, the food cold the service sucks i wish have gone to subway at least i would receive the price of my money in food I can see good comment probably just Bad luck A shame but never again in madrid i had big expectations

Clarissa C.

Yelp
Baby octopus & potatoes and mushroom truffle risotto were delicious and look forward to coming back for!

T. D. M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. I always want to find something that feels local, but also has good energy and a fun room. The food prices here are wonderfully reasonable and the portions rival American restaurants. The foot all tasted great and the presentation was lovely. Also, the staff were very friendly. If you enjoy wine, their wine list is extensive and very reasonable. Definitely order a bottle! Again, I do highly recommend for a solid Spanish meal. You will not go wrong with this place.

N G.

Yelp
Food and drinks were amazing. Waiters speak English Prices were great too Ambience was relaxing and posh Dessert however was not what we expected, but still tasty. For example the pie didn't have a crust etc

Robert M.

Yelp
Crying babies, unsmiling service, indifferently prepared food (my veal rolls stuffed with ham were obviously microwaved; the truffled risotto was a waste of good truffles) -- what's the point of this bastion of mediocrity in a city of great food? Truly a waste of a meal opportunity, which is unforgivable in Madrid. To think that we almost went to Alemana again, one block away.

Miss C.

Yelp
This restaurant's decor is just lovely! Such a classy place and when you check out the menu you'll love it even more! The price for everything is just amazing! Extremely affordable because from the decor you would think it would be expensive! Dinner here was just a cherry on top to my trip to Madrid! I definitely will come back when I'm back in Spain and I also highly recommend everyone to check this place out when you're ever in Madrid!!! :)

Joni H.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. The service was awful, waiters were rude (rolled their eyes at us) and didn't speak any English. 2 out of 4 people had to wait for half an hour after the other dishes arrived, so by the time the first two people were done the other two got their food. We also found plastic in one of the dishes and when we told the waiter he didn't apologise and he just took away the dish just to bring another full plate we didn't even ask for. The food wasn't even nice. Don't be fooled by the affordable prices just find yourself a better restaurant.

Stephen W.

Yelp
I give a strong four stars on the lunch at Ginger. You get a lot of value for the money, particularly Menu del Dia. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is pretty elegant, and I agree with some of the other comments that it feels a little bit like a restaurant in midtown Manhattan. But the menu and food are definitely Spanish! You won't be disappointed with your meal here.

Ulf R.

Yelp
I ordered the Little octopus with onions & potato with garlic mayonnaise for less than 10 euros under the Starters on the menu. This was the best appetizer I have ever had. Can't wait to go back and try this dish again. Service was above average but a little slow.

Olivia E.

Yelp
Not an authentic experience in my opinion. No one at our table was satisfied by anything we got off of the menu del día other than the gazpacho. Aside from that, the highlight was the bread. The interior has the appearance of a much more expensive/quality dining experience in a Vegas kind of way. Do not recommend for your time in Madrid.

Kelly G.

Yelp
The ambiance was great. My husband and I sat in front by the window for lunch and it was lovely. Service was good and servers were helpful. We had the burrata starter and it was a large portion and excellent flavor. Make sure you ask for bread to go with it. I had the rigatoni which was ok and nothing exciting. He had the lomo rustica which he really enjoyed and said the pork was very tender. Overall a very nice lunch.

Ruaidhri F.

Yelp
Food was awful, service was very good and restaurant looked very well but the actual food was horrid. My paella was completely black and the meat tasted very crunchy, my partner got pasta bolognese and it tasted microwave with no real texture to the meat. I also asked could I have paella for one and they said they only do paella for two which to me is a sign that it's not cooked fresh

Lauren G.

Yelp
Ginger is conveniently located off Plaza Santa Ana. We were running late and read the reviews, some good, some not so good. First the not so good. Service is a bit slow and waiters seemed to not really care. Not horrible, but much improvement needed. The good. The pricing as compared to rest of Madrid is crazy good! Food for 4, a bottle of wine, no dessert and coffee, $60 euros!!! Unheard of. The food. My pork steak and mashed potatoes were fantastic, only 1 of the 4 plates was sub par. For the price, you can't beat it.

Melanie R.

Yelp
I wandered into Ginger after roaming the side streets behind Puerta Del Sol. This place is a must if you're in the Madrid area. The food was not pricy at all and the portions were large. I had the rice with black sausage and codfish. The potatoes and pork are also a good option if you don't like seafood too much.

Lola D.

Yelp
The tables on the outside terrace were empty. We took a seat on one and a rude, unhelpful waiter asked us to leave because the tables were reserved. No reserved signs anywhere!!! What a shame such a nice restaurant has the worst customer service oriented staff ever!!!

Lindsey H.

Yelp
The WORST. Do not be fooled by the nice decor. Inedible food, terrible service. Nice location, decor and cheap prices for the neighborhood sucked us in. I wish we read reviews before we went. I will be glad to NOT get food poisoning, there were so many food violations and reheated food. Seriously, read other reviews on Google and Trip Advisor. Coincidentally the restaurant does not have a TA rating on the window. I wonder why.....

Lizzie W.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!! This was the worst meal I've had in years! A poor, poor excuse for "Italian". We ordered the wild mushroom "risotto" which appeared at the table within 5 minutes (?!?!? could only have been pre-made or minute rice from a box) and the penne rigate with tomatoes, eggplant and cheese, which was half cooked through pasta smothered in tomato paste from a tube. We honestly cannot get over how awful this meal was. Not to mention the rude abrupt staff who took less than 30 seconds to take our order and huffed when asked a question. Looks great on the outside but do not make the same mistake.

Charlotta Å.

Yelp
Good appetizers and superbly disappointing entrées. This is a quick fix, you can do so much better. Service is fine but no more than fine. The place is perfectly clean. Food is blaha. In a town that has so much more to offer, Ginger isn't worth a visit.

Julie L.

Yelp
My mom and I ate here after wandering from our apt in Lavapies and were very pleased with food quality, portion size, and price as compared to other places we have eaten in Madrid or Barcelona. The autumn salad with apple compote was lovely to share and we both enjoyed our entrees (chicken w/ pasta and veal rolls in mushroom sauce). I would eat here again for sure. We ate outside but the inside dining room was quite full and lively.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The restaurant is very busy. It's a pretty place in Plaza Santa Ana.The salad with aubergines was nice. The risotto with Cod was fantastic. The hake was disappointing.I had a dangerous pile of long, thick bones when I finished. The chicken was similar to American chicken fingers. The pasta was also average. The caramel custard was almost tasteless.Definitely not worth ordering or the calories. The pecan pie dessert is more like a spiced bread. Also not particularly satisfying. It was tough to get servers to refill our water or bring us butter, or oil and vinegar.

Sarah S.

Yelp
For the price, the food here is good and the ambiance is nice. I got the salmon strudel and it was pretty good. But I was surprised at how quickly all our food came out! I think it may have been pre-made and they just heated it up...and for a little glass of juice or cola they charge you around 2,50 euros so it's not really worth getting a drink.

Mindy R.

Yelp
Do not go to this place. The food is bad and is matched by the equally poor service.

Eddie D.

Yelp
Great food! Quality food at an affordable price, but pretty bad service. The waiter pretty much threw the plates on our table. Our glasses, wine glass, and plate were all dirty.

Gerald T.

Yelp
A good choice, really enjoyable food. Very tasty. Staff were very welcoming. The wine was great value and again a good choice. Restaurant clean and atmosphere was good. Certainly recommend the chicken curry, and I have eaten many curries in my time.

Gianna N.

Yelp
I had the lamb and potatoes "milhojas" dish with mustard sauce and it was delicious. The lamb was really tender
