Our family recently ate here for dinner. The restaurant was in a cave which was a nice atmosphere. The food was fairly good. Our issue was the male server that we had. We have travelled a fair amount and have never experienced such bad service in any restaurant, both at home and abroad. We are Canadian and I acknowledge we can’t speak fluent Spanish, but we do make an effort with basic words. Though the server only spoke Spanish, he made ZERO effort to communicate with us. He didn’t even say “hi” to us and just put the menus in front of us and waited for us to order. When we paid, he didn’t say thank you nor even acknowledge us. We have truly never felt so unwelcome in our lives at a restaurant!

Had meal. Not amazing. Alubias underseasoned and esparragos v stringy- not fresh. Some of the mains had better flavour and the service was good. Wines fine but not great value. Bread rolls were stale and the lighting is too bright.

We dined in the restaurant for lunch. We had a great experience. Even though the restaurant was full, the service was very good. We ordered the quail pickle salad, vegetable stew and meat stew. All were excellent. Definitely more of a upscale local establishment, but we never felt unwelcome and thoroughly enjoyed getting away from the restaurants that cater primarily to tourists. I highly recommend the Restaurante Los Calais de Briones.

Found this hotel in the Spain Lonely Planet and booked it. Got there mid afternoon and were sent to their secondary building just down the road from the restaurant. So amazed at the quality of the accommodation for the price. Beautifully decorated rooms. Sitting room below with a fabulous coffee machine, computers, TV. Restaurant in the main building looked great, but we missed lunch time. However, we were greeted with a glass of red wine. Not much to do in Briones but the hotel is a great place for relaxation.

I stayed here in August 2014 with my 3 children. We had a lovely large room which was perfect for us and very good value as well. We also had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, which was delicious. My pudding (an orange sorbet with dark chocolate sauce) was the nicest pudding I have had for ages! The staff were all extremely helpful.

We had a room in the annex building, a short walk from main building (which looked beautiful), on the ground floor. The room was quite small, and the shower/toilet just had glass walls so no soundproofing. Unfortunately there was a slight smell in the room (hidden at first by very strong plugged-in air freshener, which we unplugged because of the chemical smell). Maybe the rooms in the main building were nicer and bigger.... Everything was clean, and the service was kind. The town itself is quite small, with little choice for places to eat, and we would have stayed in Laguardia if we had known enough about both towns...

This was dining at its worst. There is no way this restaurant has earned the almost four star google rating it currently has. I had entrecôte. The meat was tough and the vegetables had obviously been frozen. The unfriendly waiter hovered over us uncomfortably like a vulture while we were deciding what to choose, but then forgot to bring bread until we were nearly finished with the “meal”. The bread he brought did not even look appetizing (but of course it was on the bill). Girlfriend and I each had one dish and shared a bottle of water and paid €34.21 (not one cent more) and left.

It was getting rather late in the afternoon after exploring the beautiful little villages in the area and we were thrilled to stumble upon the lovely restaurant at Los Calaos. The roast lamb was one of the best meals of our trip. Highly recommend!
