Restaurante Marucho

I’ve been to many good restaurants and this place is a total gem. I had sopa de pescado, and it was so impressive that I had to try other menu, and the fried squid was also 💯 The seafood quality is so fresh (literally the owner brings live seafood after every order lol) For some reasons Ive waited the queue and it was definitely worth it!!!!

A dear friend took us to Santander to eat at Marucho, and we were not disappointed. I forgot to take photos of all the dishes. We started with tomato and tuna salad as well as anchovies on grilled red peppers…these were not your tinned, salty anchovies. They were silky and delicious. Then we shared garlic shrimp (spicy), clams marineiro and then monk fish a plancha. We finished our engorgement with a piece of the cake they make with a local liquor. Delicious from start to finish with super friendly and attentive staff, but the best part was the atmosphere of an old school Taberna with tables crowded in, photos over many decades. Intimate and without pretension. Just excellent seafood prepared perfectly. You cannot make reservations but you can call ahead and get your name and number on a list so that when a table comes up, they call you. Do it!

Fantastic fresh seafood. The restaurant has a charming old school atmosphere. The staff was quite busy therefore the service and waiting time was average. The fried squid (calamari) is a real treat. I can recommend that.

Pretty bad service, no explanation that a portion is standard for two even though i mentioned only I order, not feeling welcome, the waitress was super straight face, prices are very high for the quality of food, super small bathroom barely could use it and in the end I ve been served the bill without asking for it, right after I finished my dish, basically felt kicked out. If you value your pocket and mood, I advise to avoid

We have been for lunch on a Saturday in June 2022. The variety and quality of the seafood is great, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, be prepared to spend quite a lot especially if you take tapas of specialities that are sold by price, rather than by portion.

Great, friendly stuff and authentic old school atmosphere. They let us in before the lunch has started, we got wine and pinchos at the bar and a soup was served for all early birds for free. We went there two times and had seefood soup, shrimps and spider crab. I’m not that big expert for seafood and fish but everything felt just right there and I really enjoyed both meals

The food was delicious, really enjoyable for all seafood lovers and the service was good. The only issue is the second floor, is not very accessible and you have to beware with the high of the ceiling or you can hurt your head on your way up.

The food was really good! My favorites: anchoas, albondigas de pescado, y la tarta de queso. The service was quick and super nice!!

This restaurant is very much off the beaten track. I would never have stumbled upon it, by just walking along the port or through the pedestrian streets. As they have a lunch & dinner service, I presumed that lunch would be quieter. Mistake! There were many people outside waiting for a table. As I was on my own, I accepted a space on the outside counter/shelf. As I had to stand, I didn't think that I would manage to eat with a knife & fork so I ordered Sopa de Pescado. Be aware there are no Pescado (fish) in the soup, only Mariscos (seafood).

Hidden gem not many tourist seem to know about. The fish is very fresh and high quality, one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been.
