Restaurant Mesón El Granaino

Fantastic experience from walking in to the impeccable service of Antonio. The food was superb. Started with the crusty house bread which was unforgettable. The lobster salad was amazing. The buñuelos de bacalao, rabbit albondigas and the manitas (trotters) were excellent. We had to finish with a traditional arroz con costra, the traditional Elche arroz. Not to mention the tinto de verano which was the best we ever had in my decades of visiting Spain.

Had quite a difficult time confirming our reservation that I had booked a month in advance, that resulted in about 8 different calls 🥲 Even on the day of :/ The only reason my reservation was confirmed was when I called to change our party of 12 to 10, then a few days later I get more calls asking if we are 12. I double checked twice to make sure our reservation was for 1:30, later to be called again and to be told that we can only come at 2... We opted for not getting a set group menu, but was however disappointed that we couldn't order more than one rice dish despite being a group of 10 with two tables. Overall mixed feelings. In house staff were great and kind. Food was ok; probably the complications before hand made my expectations high. Will miss the old Spanish-house charm it had before. Maybe my last visit for El Granaino.

Superb dinning experience in Elche. A beautiful place, magnificent food, fresh, delicious. Seafood rice was flawless, full of flavours and delicacy. Amazing wine list, we went for Jumilla red and didn’t disappoint us. Great desserts.

Very busy but worth the wait, they have both tables and a bar the bar staff are super friendly and the food is the freshest and so well prepared, recently refurbished to be modern but still reflecting what the restaurant is about fresh seafood and meat with roots from Granada. Also a great selection of spirits.

We came as a group of 10 for lunch. The food was delicious and service was okay. But they didn’t allow us to order different rice dishes saying that the kitchen can’t be full of rice. This restriction didn’t make sense and was just disappointing. How can you be a restaurant that refuses the preferences of customers?

Just managed to get a table in this amazing restaurant. Very typically Spanish food, very tasty. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. This is an upper-class restaurant, you'll feel very underdressed if you don't make an effort. Would highly recommend this restaurant it's simply lovely. Would also recommend to book a table in advance.... And the octopus 🐙 is out of this world!

Fresh oysters, langostinas a la sal very good. Rabo de torro not bed. Callos gon garbanzos had too much cumin in it. The chocolate soufflé was overcooked. Ice cream was delicious.
